Not really. The books are more gruesome with a few exceptions like the pregnant stabbing or Oberyn's death, but I suppose some readers might lack imagination.

It's a joke, and you mentioned two examples of how said joke is relevant. /boggle

Of course it's a joke, just not a very good one when there's only two examples in 4 seasons. Actually the Red Wedding is the only example since Oberyn's death is as gruesome, just different. And speaking of the Red Wedding there's a part of gruesome missing, Catelyn going insane and scratching her own face off before her throat is slit.

Damn it, they killed

Pyp and Grenn. In the books they're both alive and Donal Noye (the one armed blacksmith of Castle Black) is the one that kills and dies with Mag the Mighty (the giant in the tunnel).

Good focused episode overall with no talks of beetles.

One thing they ######ed up in a major way (book and possibly E10 spoilers):

Where the ###### was Stannis. He's supposed to be the one that crushes the wildlings on the north side of the wall.

pretty sure in the books they hold out over night like in the show, then Snow talks to them and while that happens Stannis comes in a few days and wipes them all out, im 99% sure it didn't happen on the first day/night.

Also, that episode took a big number 2 over the battle of helmsdeep in LOTR.

You're right, this happens when Jon meets with Mance so I guess it's going to take place at the start of the next episode. The circumstances of Jon going to assassinate Mance is completely different on the other hand and you have to admit, the attack on the north was pretty anaemic (or am I misremembering stuff again).

I liked the sword fighting a lot, none of that fast cuts bullcrap.

I thought

Stannis came after Jon had gone to parley with Mance

. Assuming that's what's going to happen next episode.

What I'm really looking forward to is

Tyrion getting his revenge on Shay and Tywin

. As well as reading Feast for Crows later this month :D

Yeah, I got the order of events mixed up.

The look on Tywin's face should make that extremely satisfying, but want I'm most looking forward to is Jaimie telling Tyrion the truth about his first wife.

But nothing beats the Giants in GoT. Pretty Awesome for a TV show.

Yeah that should be an interesting interaction.

Initially when I read it and what follows in the book, I thought Jamie was lying in order to provoke Tyrion into killing Tywin.

I guess I won't find out until I read Feast for crows.

Freak'n amazing episode. Loved the whole thing...... That ending though. Now Jon will need to gather the 7 dragon balls... oh wait, I'm mixing shows up again.

Yeah

Didn't expect Jons wildling gf to get killed, but I guess EVERYONE dies in a song of fire and ice eh?

Not that I don't enjoy this but aren't you behind now?  Episode 8 was 2 weeks ago and episode 9 was a couple of days ago.

Yeah but the pictures got released yesterday in Hi-Res might be someone that might be interested in them :)
