That statement doesn't make a great deal of sense

I torrent, but that happens after its officially aired in the US, so people who can watch it on TV can. Now many will watch the season before it even airs, that may result in lower audience, that may result in lower budgets, and that may limit what the people at GoT can do in the series (financially). A lot of maybe's, I know :)

That statement doesn't make a great deal of sense

actually it does.

i love watching the new episodes, but they never before leaked in such advance.

someone might see 4 of them, and then choose not to watch it on opening night, bringing the show ratings down.

normally this would not be such a big deal, but game of thrones is the most pirated show ever, and rumors spread fast.

if it was 1 episode, no biggie, people will wait till tomorrow, but 4 episodes is a big deal. that is a months worth of programming.

considering that people who will watch all of it, will choose to do something else on sunday, the ratings might be affected.

my only hope that it will not matter at all, since everyone will know the reason, and everyone loves the show anyway, so i don't think anyone will care for the lower ratings.

tons of money to be made in the franchise and it is not going away anytime soon.

The only way we Aussies get to watch it is via being naughty anyway. It sucks because our only other alternative is paying Foxtel $25 a month, just to watch Game of Thrones.
So I dont feel bad at all doing it the other way. I do hope that a 720p version gets released though of those episodes.

The leaks are low quality < 480p from what I hear, and may not be the finished episode so don't count on it.

This could hurt the show big time.

I have to wonder why people seem to think it'll hurt anything in the long. People aren't going to be dropping their HBO subscriptions just 'cause someone leaked a few episodes (or even the whole season if that happens) - HBO isn't a broadcast network that gets revenue by selling ads during their programming time, they get it by selling monthly subscriptions so they're paid before you even see the shows or movies in question.

Even with this HBO To Go thing being available for most anyone now through iTunes or whatever that still won't hurt the show, or HBO for that matter in the long run.

While I am not condoning piracy or theft, I'm simply going to say that HBO gets nothing from this type of activity but increased publicity for the show itself in the long run.

First 4 episodes have leaked. I heard first half of season coming.

If it would've been a true HD -- 720p -- leak, and not what clearly is an SD leak even though they are putting 'HDTV' as part of the filename, then I would've been interested.

I doubt it will even put a dent in their views/ratings etc. GOT is one of the biggest and most successful TV shows out there. It has always been the most pirated tv show too iirc.

Either way I won't be watching a crappy quality version, will wait for HD :p

Downloaded them, watched the first 10 minutes, and stopped and deleted them.
Quality is subpar (looks like a 360p rip) and although clear, took away from the experience immensely.
100% would recommend NOT downloading these. As commented earlier it doesnt do the show justice.

episodes are usually online within minutes after they air in the US
