My Take on the final episode

Spoiler

I felt they dragged the scene's between Tyrion & Jon on too much in the final episode.

I suspected/predicted (I don't care if you believe me or not) that Jon would return to the Night's Watch,

and that Arya would go on exploring on her own, I thought maybe Jon would take the throne and then give it to Sansa.

I knew of course, I think we all did, that Dany would die, just didn't know how. I wondered how they were going to have all the other character's with the hour episode.

I thought Tyrion would be the Queen's hand with Sansa.

Anyhow the show ended the way it did, there's talk on some websites about a GoT sequel for Arya???, Don't know if HBO is thinking about it or not.

Edit: Just found out about a Prequel for GoT that HBO is considering.

Spoiler

Why does everyone think Bran knew what was going to happen?  The way I understand it, the 3 eyed raven knows the past and what is happening right now, not the future.   He's said many times he is "a record of the living" and that he "lives in the past".  Where does this future seeing stuff come from?

Maybe I missed an episode but I never once saw him see the future.

Didn't he say something like 'That's why I'm here' after he was named King?

My take

Spoiler

I enjoyed the episode, but I can see the points that others have made. I liked that they kinda closed off the the characters and gave them something to do (is that the right phrasing?)

There's  many people here that analyse things and that's not a bad thing, but I just enjoyed watching it 😛 Probably explains why I loved the 'dumb action' episode 5.

Peter Dinklage's acting in the last season, for me, has been outstanding.

May be the wrong place for a discussion, but there are very few TV series that have had an ending that was satisfactory. To name a few

  • Game of Thrones
  • Breaking Bad
  • Gotham
  • Oz

*Sigh* I guess that means it's time to play catch-up. I think I got to the end of season 5 before I drifted off, so I've got a nice chunk to get through. Although my understanding of the paths a couple of the characters go down doesn't exactly make me happy, but we'll see.

One of the things I wish we had gotten an answer to...

Spoiler

Is Jon flammable?

Really thought Drogon was going to answer that one for us for a second there. Could have been a really epic scene, maybe with him coming out of the flames in front of the melting throne and Drogon reacting to his Targaryan-ness, which makes more sense than Drogon just flying away to never be heard from again.

So, my reaction to the final is pretty much my reaction to Endgame:

Yeah, fair play.  A few things I'd have preferred to see tidied up but why bother when you now leave strands for future development.  Nothing of it really annoyed me, nothing of it really set me alight, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

There's this perception that a finale should be some bombastic, blow all the other episodes away thing.  I don't subscribe to that.

I think that a finale should at least provide conclusions to questions. This one wrapped things up... kinda. It also just completely dropped storylines...

Spoiler

Like why the Lord of Light was so involved in Jon's life. All he ended up doing in the entire last season was stabbing Dany. Was that it? He just kinda stood around for 95% of it.

His actual identity as heir wasn't even a plot outside of Dany being jealous, and that is one of the most important revelations in the series.

It did a good enough job putting characters where they were going, but it left a lot of open questions about how and why things happened, had a lot of fan service, and just killed off characters nonsensically to wrap things up

Spoiler

(like Euron and the entire Golden Company)

. Of course, it is a TV show, so it can't explain everything like a 700 page book can, but still, a lot of stuff went nowhere, suspiciously coinciding with the point where they ran out of book material and had to make things up on their own.

While that would have been cool to see, I think the fact drogan was ###### but instead of actually attacking Jon he just burned the place, and the throne in the process, shows he understands Jons bloodline.  He'd never attack him to begin with, which is why Jon was the only one really who could get close to kill Dany.    As far as other plot threads dropped of left hanging, eh, just pray the final books actually come out and maybe we'll get answers.  :P

So, this was in a court ruling (Banks v Northern Trust)...

Quote

Northern would like us to read Dabit without considering its clarification in Troice. But we will not render Troice meaningless the way that Game of Thrones rendered the entire Night King storyline meaningless in its final season. Troice directly supports our conclusion that a trustee’s misconduct – over which a beneficiary of an irrevocable trust has no control – cannot constitute misconduct “in connection with” the sale of covered securities where “the only party who decides to buy or sell a covered security as a result of a lie is the [trustee].” Troice, 571 U.S. at 388.

Haha, nice.   The final season will live on in infamy!    I love how salty fans still are over this.  You know, you could always wait, and hope, the final books give you the ending you wanted.   But who am I kidding, I'd wager 90% of GoT series fans never touched one of the books.

    • too bad the "backend" June 2026 ESD files are still at build 26200.8653 and not at the correct build 26200.8655 release. I'll avoid using the MCT for several weeks until late July 2026
    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.
