Hey, yeah

as I believe once you get out of cocoon you can grind. And the boss fight at Hope's house was tough but managed to get through it, without a summon, and got 5 stars. Did have to use a pheonix down or 2

But just like every FF game, I'm really enjoying it and its worth the wait :D

That boss annoyed me. First one i had to think about. My tactic up until then was power. Although once you take out the rocket launchers it is quite easy after that.

13... get it.. FF XIII = 13 chapters.. :/

Well considering disc 1 packed 4 chapters, it wouldnt have been unreasonable to assume 4 per disc = 12?

And the game name doesnt necc indicate how many chapters are in the game.. it just indicates its position in the series

I really hate the voice actress for Vanille. It's a perfectly good entertaining game so far but if Square Enix decided that Vanille was actually a mute, I'd enjoy it more!

What is wrong with the voice actress?!?! Can't she stick to one accent, and must she sound like she has a jawbreaker stuck in her throat all the time? I understand cutesy-tootsie, but I don't understand making characters annoying.

And this goes for every game generally as well! FIX YOUR VOICE ACTORS!

The guy in inFamous sounds like Batman, the guy from Gears of War sounds like Batman. At least Batman from Arkham Asylum thankfully doesn't sound like (Christian Bale) Batman (Joker is awesome in that game too).

\rant

So, after leveling up and doing a few side-missions, I decided to go try Chapter 12. For my power level (everyone's main roles are maxed out) and I used Lightning, Fang and Hope, all over 7000 HP, except hope, who has 5600 HP.

I kept the order Rav/Com/Med, and I walked right through Chapter 12, I didn't die on any monsters or bosses, it was a breeze at my level.

I did just figure something out, and YES, you will call me a noob, but I've just never bothered to test it out. I used Synergy with Hope, and he casts Haste, Shell, etc at the beginning of the battle.. bosses were doing NO damage to me what so ever. So I switched the roles to Com/Com/Rav and destroyed the two bosses on Chapter 12. God i'm such a newb :p

Now, off to Chapter 13 :)

So you spent the extra points into other roles on everyone? thats aloooooooooooooooooot of points, i guess farming in chapter 11 is worth it then?

No, he just did the main 3 roles like he said there. Meaning Lighting he maxed COM/RAV/MED. With Fang he did COM/SEN/SAB and with Hope he did RAV/SYN/MED.

It doesn't take that long. I haven't stopped to farm cept for maybe an hour total in entire game and I'm in chapter 13 with all main roles maxed cept for 2 nodes.

but after you beat the game it opens up the final level and each one of those cost a fortune. like 40,000+CP per node if I remember correctly.

Because it isn't the worst. it is one of the best :p IMO 9 is the worst. I couldn't' even force myself to finish the first disc.

If linearity is your issue then wait till it opens. I seriously don't see what the issue is. This is a difficult, fun and exciting main FF game and I've loved all 40 hours I've spent on it so far. But to each their own I guess. No one in here is going to convince you otherwise if you are so hell bent on assuming it sucks.

To me this looks like is going to be in my top FF games. I'm on Chapter 9 and loving everything about it. Story, character's stories and development, battle system, music, graphics. I don't have problem with linear games, in fact I prefer linear games, like Uncharted, MGS, FFX. The game feels a lot like FFX. No surprise there, I think this game was done by the FFX team.

I really don't want to wade through 25 hours of mediocrity before I can start enjoying it.

I am thinking about playing this game as my "background game", i.e I play it for short bursts forever long it takes while focusing on something better/more recent. But even then I'm not sure I want to do that. The script is dreadful, the voice acting pathetic and I still don't know exactly what is going on!

I said the same thing a few pages back and people basically told me to go elsewhere with my negativity LOL

So far I'm 11 hrs into the game and it's not getting better. And this is coming from a person that's played every main final fantasy game with the exception of X-2 and 11, plus both mistwalker games on the xbox

I made it to the boss.. definitely need to go back and try him again, he whopped me.. because he's SO CHEAP!

I can beat the first form alright, but the second form... like comon. He just cheaps me with that huge sword. I got him down to 1/8th his health (second form) but he just cheaped me with his big hand thing, immediately after the sword!

I just beat it! Finally!! After 3 attempts.. first two were posted above, and an hour to dedicate to the game, I beat it no problem :D

MAJOR SPOILERS:

The first form, was seriously easy. I beat him using all 3 people as attackers. Second form was alright, I knew what to expect, I would switch to double healer right as his stagger was reset, than I waited. The third form, he cast "doom" on me, which scared the crap out of me. It also only gave me 600 seconds, what the hell! But the damage he took when he was staggered, was insane! I was doing 99,999 each blow.. he went down like a sack of potatoes

The ending to the game was amazing! You can tell (at least on the Xbox version) where the true detail to graphics really comes into play. Suddenly the sky never looked so blue, the faces were so smooth and clear, the hair was greatly improved.

Definitely one of the best stories I have ever seen in a game!

This game gets a 11/10 from me, for giving me so many "WOW" factors in one game (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y)

How do you get back to gran pulse after you beat the boss? I saved it, but where do I go to warp back? Do I have to run all the way to the start of chapter 13??

Total time: 44:44:42 <-- no word of a lie!

I have not upgraded my weapons that much. I don't know which one to upgrade or which one is better? :/

http://ff-13.info/

It'll tell ya the stats of 'em, exp and some other notes. But weapons all depend on the role they will be playing. Except for Vanille where you always want a Marlboro Wand since it has Improved Debuffing II on it and it's needed for the spam death farm method.

After 4 hours is where the game started to get interesting (where you become a L'cie)

Reload the newly saved game, and you'll start back where the final boss level is. Go to the warp, and choose to warp back to the beginning of Orphan's Cradle or whatever. From there, you'll notice that there will be 3 warps on the map. One from which you just came out of, and the other two lead back to Eden (where you can farm adamantortoises next to the save point right outside the building, and the other one leads to Gran Pulse, where you can finish your missions and all that other good stuff.

    • There is a default resolution setting in Settings > Display that can be changed with a click. You can also change the settings on a per-game basis. No CLI needed. Also, Steam has countless games that are not "[perpetual] alpha/beta games", so no need for the straw man. Plus you can use other stores as well. And console games (e.g. PS5) cost a fortune, which itself more than negates the price subsidy on the system, unless you plan on exclusively playing 1 or 2 games. It's true that you shouldn't buy a system that doesn't support the game(s) you want to play, but I think that's kinda obvious, and applies to every console as well as PC. I don't game in the living room and have no need of a Steam Machine, but there is a clear market segment that would find it useful.

RSS Guard 5.2.0 changelog: Added: Feed auto-fetch can now also be delayed while Feral GameMode is active on Linux and startup auto-fetch is skipped when GameMode is already active. (#2265) WebEngine builds can now use RSS Guard generated proxy auto-config (PAC) rules so article/web browsing follows per-account and per-feed proxy settings more closely. (#2273) Generated PAC rules now also cover related subdomains and use Public Suffix List data, so feeds such as feeds.bbc.co.uk can also proxy resources from images.bbc.co.uk. (#2273) Standard feeds can now define extra proxy domains, useful when article images, stylesheets or other page resources are loaded from a CDN or another domain that should use the same feed proxy. (#2273) RSS Guard now asks for proxy credentials when a WebEngine page needs proxy authentication and can fill credentials from the current feed proxy when available. (#2273) Network settings again include an option to ignore all cookies, which clears stored cookies and prevents new cookies from being accepted. Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now individually ignore cookies while downloading feed data. Stored cookies can now be deleted from the Tools menu. Custom skin colors can now override the feed list article count color separately from feed titles, including a separate highlighted color. (#2275) Settings dialog can now search across available settings and highlight matching controls. (#1754) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now optionally be reported as broken when they are valid but contain no articles. (#2039) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now override the application-wide feed connection timeout per feed. (#1023) Tray icon can now use a custom background color and unread-count text color, with an option to reuse the generated icon as the application icon. (#1973) Support for more benevolent parsing of Gemlog entries (#2295). Article list can now show when an article was received by RSS Guard. (#947) Feed deep discovery now actually scrapes all links found in the website and checks if they are feeds or not. This greatly enhances usability of the deep discovery mode and discovers many more feeds than before. (#2306) Search boxes now show a small dot when the feed or article list is hiding some items because of active filtering. (#873) Articles now have a shortcut-assignable action to open the homepage of the feed they belong to. (#2060) Fixed: Parallel feed updates no longer crash when multiple update results are processed at the same time. (64cf521) Links in WebEngine articles opened from feeds such as Kill the Newsletter now open correctly instead of being swallowed by the embedded page. (#2272) Relative article URLs resolution was kinda broken. (#2282) Clicking article URL did not work when the URL had "fragment" set. (#2293) The default proxy setting now uses Qt/system default proxy behavior instead of forcing no proxy. (e0263ad) WebEngine article loading now keeps the current feed context, so feed-specific proxy credentials remain available while the article page loads.
