Okay. I just came across the Gigantuar. There is noooo way I can do that right now, so I got on with the game. :[

Unless I'm missing something? I must need 10k+ HP. And I'm like nowhere near that level. More like 1500+ and 2000+ at the min.

Beat Juggernaut pretty easily with some skill (Woop), and now I'm just making my way through .. er. Well, wherever it is I am. >.>;

If all you want to do is beat the game you don't really have to max weapons up to tear 3, aka lvl100. But ofc it would make it even more easy if you can.

I mostly play for the story, so I'm going to try and do as much as I can before I go to the final chapter and end the story.

qustion...how old is Vanille?

Mentally i think around 17-18, chronologically i think a couple hundred years?

So, was in the middle of playing Sazh and Vanille in chapter 9, i was fighting one of those dinosaur things with the scales that take forever to kill when my power decided to turn off and on, so i lost a good 10 minutes of progress in a annoying fight.

I barely beat him with 17,000 HP. He was probably the hardest battle. You need to cast slow on him

Yup, I am definitely leaving that one til later. It makes the Grand Cactuar from FF8 look easy. And that thing had me crying for weeks trying to beat it.

Currently dashing through Eden. How close am I to the end? I just beat my first Proto-Behemoth. Everything seems quite easy so far. I'm assuming it's quite a long dungeon, no?

So i just bought Final Fantasty XII. I have been a major fan of the series since I interduced to FF7 back in the 98. I have since played every installment rreleased with the exception of Final Fantasy 10-2 and 11. I never got around to 10-2 and I don't care for multiplayer.

So I bought #13, unwrapped it and started playing. I'm currently 3-4 hours in the game and I find the game to be un-Final Fantasy-like with the exception of the battle system and the world-setting.

Here is my first impression of the game.

1. The game is too Linear.

One of the major aspect I love about this series is the game exploration and ability to travel around the world, vast badlands or from city to city. What I have seen in FF13 is that all I do is travel on a path[with different backdrop. May it be the City or Lake Bresha(SP?)]. It is visually stunning but gets boring verry fast. That is a major let down and game ruiner for me but I am trying to remain positive and complete the game to see if it really is worth all the rave reviews.

2. Wrong choice in picking the main protagonist.

I feel that the developers choose the wrong person as the lead character. Lightning is as one-dimensional and boring as a lead character comes. It might only be at the begining of the game but so far she comes of as cold, non-chalant and a bitof bich. There is no connection with the character and I really could not care for her. She lacks many of the traits that a main protagonist In the Final Fantasy series should have. It might change as the game progees but so far Snow seems like would have been a better choice for that role.

3. The way the story is told.... or not

I find it irratating and a major let down that I have to go inside the Datalog to read about what is going in the story instead of being told in the gameplay itself or the in the countless cutscenes.

What do you guys think? Am i being too harsh, somewhere in the middle or is it spot on?

You're partially right, but like most people will say.. the game is different until a certain point. Lightning takes a back seat after a certain point and Vanille and Fang seem to take over. And while the linearity all but remains, there is a massive area with side quests to do much later in the game so theres a teeeny bit of non-linear gameplay.

It's not the best, but it's still fun to play! Plus snow may be the most hated character in the game. He's like the Cait Sith of FFXIII.

Okay guys, I need some help on this part.

I haven't done much upgrading for weapons (all are maxed at tier 2, except Lightning, she has a level 48 Omega weapon (tier 3)) and none of my accessories are upgraded. I noticed that I can upgrade rings with HP up to 3000! So, I am currently doing one ring I found, it started with 800HP, now it's up to 1000HP.

However, I need MONEY! In order to beat the last few missions, I need to upgrade my weapons (getting those tropz, i found away to turn 1 tropz into 3..) but to upgrade my weapons, I need tons and tons of cash! Any suggestions?

Just beat disc 2, i am quite enjoying this game so far. Lightning's personality change after her "being a pet" speach was refreshing, she acts like a real person now. I absolutely loved the scene with Sazh and Vanille

When he found out Vanille caused his son to become a l'cie, and i loved the scene where they talked, he almost shot her, and his eidolon (sp?) came out, i think he is my favorite character

Killing the turtles right? The platinum ingots sell for 150k.

Only hit chapter 7, so still quite early on, but I think this takes second place after Resident Evil 5 as my most disappointing "next gen" update to a series this generation.

2. FF13

As it stands.

Hate the characters, hate the linearity, don't care about the story, the only thing keeping me going just now is the fairly good battle system and an HD FF. Graphics are great.

So far as RPGs made by Japanese developers, Yakuza 3, Demons Souls and Valkyria Chronicles have trampled this for me, FF only prevails as a graphical masterpiece.

Every single dialog in the game:

"l'Cie, l'Cie, Fal'Cie, l'Cie, Pulse, Cacoon, l'Cie, Focus, l'Cie, l'Cie, Crystal, Fal'Cie, Snow, Vanille, l'Cie, l'Cie, Fal'Cie, Pulse, Gran Pulse, Lightning, l'Cie, l'Cie, Pulse, Fal'Cie"

    • How many people can actually use a 2.5gig ethernet port? Most people do not have more than a 1gig internet connection, heck most have less than that. Most people at home do not have a switch that has multiple 2.5gig ports either.

    • The concern of this article is not getting "hacked". No one is taking over my Google account and anyone that was is far away from self-hosting their passwords. It was about your big tech account of choice deciding to reduce features or getting out of the password manager business altogether. Bitwarden (or say Proton) is professional security company offering opensource solutions. They are going no where and one can easily download or export their passwords to another password manager service regardless. They again also offer self-hosted option. I doubt many people were sold on this solution based on the write up. The author had a number of warnings and caveats themselves. A local, self-managed solution is not for 99% of users.
    • I've owned nothing but ATi/AMD GPUs since 2002, after my last nVidia GPU in 2001 (3dfx before that), IIRC, and in all of that time I recall getting this error maybe once, certainly no more than twice. Despite all the scuttlebutt as to how poor AMD drivers are supposed to be that has certainly not been my experience at all... Usually it has been a configuration problem of some kind. Then again, since we're dealing with OS versions that are EOL, it could easily be an OS version discrepancy. It's still weird to think that Win11 has been officially out for more than five years!
    • AI will never be the jobs panacea some companies fantasize about today. Oracle is likely using it as an excuse, which we will see a lot of companies doing, I'm certain. They love their "plausible" excuses for their downturns. A couple of weeks ago my wife asked me to call Krogers about some discrepancy in a online grocery order, and it will be the last time either of us does that. I'll just do emails with humans from now on... The AI experience was horrible--the obviously recorded voice started asking a bunch of questions about our orders six months prior(!) and saying, "Is this in reference to your order on January 6, for $****?" You say "No!" and immediately the next question is "Is this in reference to your order on January 29th, for $****?" again, I answered "No!"--and it was incredible--on and on it went like that for fully 20 minutes until we finally got to the present, and only then was I put through to a human with authentic intelligence... I wondered why on Earth the idiot AI didn't start with the most recent orders and work back from there, as it was something anyone with a functioning brain would have done. And why didn't the AI have enough sense to ask me what the problem was in the first place? It didn't take too much deduction to understand that the goal of this "AI" was to cause the person on the phone to hang up in disgust, with no resolution of the problem. That begs another question: why pay for a tool-free problem line if the goal is to avoid solving your customer's problems?... Fortunately, Krogers does have real humans capable of reading an email and understanding it, and if she sees another situation in the future that's route she or I will take. The online grocery delivery service from Krogers has been great, over all, but their AI truly sucks.
