Well, long story short I went back and got that Champion's Belt along with two Blaze Rings - and was rewarded with 100,000 CP for my efforts. I then proceeded to kill another giant turtle :D Still need a lot more CP though :(

Vanille, Fang, and Hope absolutely pwn with SAB, SAB, SYN - I was able to kill some of those Behomeths with death. I just noticed I don't have the collectors catalog though :( Where can I get this?

You can buy that from Moogleworks if all else fails. If you have missed it however you can pick it up from the Seventh Tier in Taejins Tower. I think that area is only accessible after defeating the boss at the top. too. So there is a chance of you missing it.

I ran into a juggernaut after CP farming and moving on into the cave, died a few times then decided to save and call it a night. Guess I'll give it another go with a different stratagy, I've been told it's best to have a sab at all times, or most of the time to keep casting down his stats, then switch to com/rav/rav when he's cleaning. And have a sent for when he's going to attack or w/e.

I'm thinking starting off com/snt/sab with some med/snt/med or med/snt/sab when needed, then switch to com/rav/rav when he's cleaning. Sound good?

The talk about challenging bosses has me wanting to get back into FF13

I loved all the Ultimate weapon battles in the previous titles, or the dark summons in FF10 I think they were called.

that juggernaut should be skipped until after you finish the game, he can one shot you until after you master at least 3 roles for your main party.

Not really, it's really easy with some tactics.

Just get Sazh into the party and set him to SYN. Allow him to cast Barfire. This will make most of Juggernauts attacks pretty ineffective.

Then get some sort of SAB to cast basically anything on the Juggernaut. itll cast Steam Clean instead of Wrecking Ball.

I'm finally on the last chapter and don't know what I should do. I went back to Grand Pulse and killed a couple more turtles but I'm still not receiving any platinum ingots from them even with the connoisseur's catalog or collector's catalog. My characters HP ranges from 7500 to 9000 (Snow) with an average of 8000 HP, almost all main roles maxed. I need money to upgrade weapons + accessories as I haven't really upgraded much - except for main weapon, although Hope has two diamond bangles on. Should I just finish the game and then do missions or try and upgrade accessories? - How hard are the final 3/4 bosses?

I defeated the Juggernaut with the 3 main roles maxed at lvl3, yes it was tough and enjoyable ;)

Also last night I beat Barthandelus, in chapter 11 (after the ruined village). Managed to take him down on first attempt. Was quite easy actually, all 3 main roles maxed @ lvl3. I had Lightnign/Fang/Hope, and basically did rav/com/rav and switching to med/sab/syn for buff/debuffs and sometimes rav/com/med.

I beat it, just had to get the right stratagy going, what I thought up worked. I went with Fang/Lighting/Vanille. All my characters main 3 rolls are maxed atm lvl4, can't go higher yet since I'm still in chapter 11. Started off with Com/Rav/Sab, then switched to Sent/Med/Med after a few of his fire attacks. Then when he's doing his cleaning I switched to Com/Rav/Rav to get his stagger up. Switched to Com/Rav/Sab again when his cleaning was done or to my two meds if needed. Once you stagger him it's way easy if you keep him up in the air.

Once I got this strat down I took out another one a bit later on before you get on that big rolling thing to get to the next level. With the right stratagy the boss/mini-boss fights are easy once you're leveled up enough.

With characters like those, you're going to completely stomp the last three bosses. I had Lighting and Fang around 6000 HP and Hope around 4000 HP if I recall correctly, and I still managed to beat them all on my first try.

Though the second last boss has an attack that brings you down to critical levels regardless of your HP, so perhaps HP isn't the best measuring stick for character strength. Still, those characters are more than good enough for the final three bosses.

the last FF game i played before this was X which i enjoyed

i didn't have any expectations when i went to pick the game up

and before i started playing a couple of my friends told me basically that this was a terrible game

so before i loaded the game, i had extremely low expectations. specifically that the combat system was TERRIBLE.

although to be fair, one of the complaints was that the entire game was X button mashing to which i replied, how is that different than any other FF game

anyways, i managed to get a few hours into the game this weekend and was pleasantly surprised

i love the Paradigm system. but i am disappointed at the fact that you cannot control all of the characters in your party. i would at least like to be able to switch in the middle of the battle. but at least the AI isn't stupid, they heal the right character and they focus fire which is a huge plus.

another disappointment is lack of character customization, i miss the FF III days of equipping weapons, armor and accessories.

but i do like the way characters are leveled via the Crystarium system.

hopefully between juggling RL and WoW and can put in some more time to beat this game!

before i get too deep into the game

are there any ultimate weapons or armor that i should be gunning for?

i remember spending countless hours in FFX farming for those which was pretty fun (except for Lulu's. i hated trying to dodge those lightning bolts)

Yes there are ultimate weapons, and you have to level up your kit to obtain. SPOILER AHEAD

Mainly you level up your weapons after you finish the storyline, and do the missions available back on Grand Pulse

You can do them before though, at least up to 2nd star, getting the catalyst is hard after that so getting the 3rd form is as you said. Still I dunno about many but after I beat the main game for RPGs I don't tend to do anything post-game.

This game has a crapload in common with The Last Remnant - it feels more like that game than a Final Fantasy game, to be honest.

Now that game was a huge pile of dung.

Square better redeem themselves with Versus.

It was okay on the PC, if you had an Xbox 360 controller. But it did kinda play itself. You just kinda gave a general direction and the game did the rest.

Ah yeah, it was a technical nightmare on the console. Square's track record with the 360 has been quite poor.

logged 65 hours, end of chapter 11, already maxed kain's lance and nirvana, 2 maxed imperial guards and entite rings, got one more trap for lightning and lionheart to be upgrade later...

now need to farm those turtle again for another 22 ultracompact reactor, 1 dark matter, 1 more royal guard and entite ring... so 16 more plat ingot

    • I've owned nothing but ATi/AMD GPUs since 2002, after my last nVidia GPU in 2001 (3dfx before that), IIRC, and in all of that time I recall getting this error maybe once, certainly no more than twice. Despite all the scuttlebutt as to how poor AMD drivers are supposed to be that has certainly not been my experience at all... Usually it has been a configuration problem of some kind. Then again, since we're dealing with OS versions that are EOL, it could easily be an OS version discrepancy. It's still weird to think that Win11 has been officially out for more than five years!
    • AI will never be the jobs panacea some companies fantasize about today. Oracle is likely using it as an excuse, which we will see a lot of companies doing, I'm certain. They love their "plausible" excuses for their downturns. A couple of weeks ago my wife asked me to call Krogers about some discrepancy in a online grocery order, and it will be the last time either of us does that. I'll just do emails with humans from now on... The AI experience was horrible--the obviously recorded voice started asking a bunch of questions about our orders six months prior(!) and saying, "Is this in reference to your order on January 6, for $****?" You say "No!" and immediately the next question is "Is this in reference to your order on January 29th, for $****?" again, I answered "No!"--and it was incredible--on and on it went like that for fully 20 minutes until we finally got to the present, and only then was I put through to a human with authentic intelligence... I wondered why on Earth the idiot AI didn't start with the most recent orders and work back from there, as it was something anyone with a functioning brain would have done. And why didn't the AI have enough sense to ask me what the problem was in the first place? It didn't take too much deduction to understand that the goal of this "AI" was to cause the person on the phone to hang up in disgust, with no resolution of the problem. That begs another question: why pay for a tool-free problem line if the goal is to avoid solving your customer's problems?... Fortunately, Krogers does have real humans capable of reading an email and understanding it, and if she sees another situation in the future that's route she or I will take. The online grocery delivery service from Krogers has been great, over all, but their AI truly sucks.
    • AI is the justification that company administrators use to lay people off; it is not the end all, be all touted in the media (many of whom can't tell a microchip from a potato chip). Greed is main driving factor behind its adoption; the other is remaining relevant in the face of competition from other entities.
    • Firefox 152.0.2 is out with fixes for performance, translation, and cloud storage services by Taras Buria A new bug-fixing update is now rolling out to Firefox users in the Release Channel. Less than a week ago, Mozilla fixed crashes on Intel Raptor Lake processors with version 152.0.1. Now, Mozilla has prepared yet another set of fixes that address problems with localization, playback issues of certain MP4 files, and performance issues on website that perform various encryption operations at once. Here is the full changelog: Firefox 152.0.2 is now available for download from Mozilla's FTP. Existing installations will get the update over the next several hours. The latest version will also be available soon on the official website, the Microsoft Store, and Neowin's Software page. You can find Firefox 152.0.2 release notes in the official documentation. In case you missed it, Mozilla released Firefox 152 earlier this month. The latest feature update brought reworked settings with a more streamlined user interface, JPEG XL support, new features for Private mode, a new way to mute a tab (just type "mute" in the address bar), and many more. You can find the complete changelog here. In other Firefox news, Mozilla recently published its roadmap, where the company detailed the upcoming Nova redesign and other features it plans to implement. Mozilla wants to make the new user interface easier to navigate and more modern, with a heavy focus on its privacy tools, such as its built-in VPN. If you are curious, you can already enable the new UI as described here.
