i got eighteen hours in, stopped. and don't plan to start again. going to trade the game in for killzone 2...

Yeah the same thing happened to me. After playing 15 hours or something, got fed up, and sold it on ebay. I actually had the collector's edition, with collector's edition official guide, got some nice amount for both, and bought Killzone 2 and infamous :)

Well you played more than I did! I think I only made it to 15 hours...this game is NOT final fantasy. **** you Square!

Oh and killzone 2 sucks as well :p

Only played for 2hrs...

My God, the beginning is awful, isn't it? The dialogue is so clunky, the switching between characters is a hassle rather than insightful and I already hope Snow gets killed in his stupid imahero face.

But you know the worst thing? The stupid camera - you can't see far enough head, it's too close to the character and it keeps dragging or magnetising to objects near the edges. WTF?

The lack of options to customize the camera to your own preference means I'm unlikely to proceed much farther with this.

The beginning is a tad annoying, however, i was so hyped up over the game I was just more blown away than disappointed.

Once you get to a certain point in the game, you can select which characters you want and build them all up. It will take awhile to get that far, but it's worth it :D

Enjoy the game!

Anyone got a solid start to kill the Adamantortise w/o summoning?

I'm just barely not strong enough (can take out both legs at 300% stagger with Fang, Genji Glove Highwind), but can't seem to finish off the big guy quick enough (got about 500k-1mill left). So a bit more grinding on King Behemoth and I should be good enough to go for it, just wondering if anyone has a strategy differ from the few go-to ones found on the net.

I have all my people maxed in the Crystarium, but out of the 20 to 30 Adamantoises I have killed, I have only found one Trapezohedron. I used on Lightning to get her Ultima Weapon, but I guess I should have used it on Fang. The death trick is all that works for my crew.

If you upgrade Vanille's Debuff++ Nirvana, or Fang's Kain's Lance to max, you can dismantle and get 3 traps (each) to use on other weapons -- that is, if you're after "Treasure Hunter".

lol -- I'm on Chapter 7 and I kind of want to end it.

It's just the same thing over and over.

Cut Scene > Run (maybe have a battle) > Cut Scene > Repeat infinity.

It really ****es me off when they have a cut scene, then they make me run 20 feet to have another cut scene. Like come on.

I want to finish the game, but you guys aren't helping

It's just awful.

FF has always been cutscene over the top, and funnily enough I've quite enjoyed them till now, but I realize why. Having that sense of exploration in between, false or not, meant the cutscenes seemed to come at the right time (and right time apart).

When you're running down a tube everything feels forced upon you, and basically this game feels like you're a chinese worker in a factory line just doing what you do because you have to with no sense of variation.

Also it doesn't help that I hate the characters in this instalment, some of the worst FF characters in a long time.

Only thing this game has going for it IMO is graphics, at least in the PS3 version anyway. Square's next FF game (versus) is going to sink them if it's as bad as 13.

lol. I don't mind the Characters. I hate Hope. He's such a whiny brat. Snow didn't force your mom to fight, and he tried to save her. Now he's doing everything ot protect you. Get over it.

I think my biggest beef is the battle system. I loved the FFVII and FFIX systems. I loved controlling all characters. I loved actually having a strategy to defeat enemies.

Now it's just switch to a Paradigm and mash X until you need to switch to another Paradigm. Give me control over all characters and there's no need for Paradigms.

I haven't read anything about Versus. I just picked up 13 this month.

Ok so I finally unwrapped my copy last week (for the 360, I didn't have a PS3 when I picked it up)....and I couldn't be more disappointed :(

So I'll admit I'm not a big fan of the 3D Final Fantasy games (I grew up playing FF1 and 2 (1 and 4) and they were GREAT games :)) but this is ridiculous... I didn't play FF12 yet (I own it but my PS2 is packed somewhere in a closet) and I sure hope it's nothing like this one. I'm not a fan of seeing the monsters on the map (I like random battles better) but some games have managed to make it work (Chrono Trigger) but this one failed pretty bad. And don't get me started on the battle system...they RUINED it, all you do is press A....very boring (and you only control one character? WTF).

I'm at the point where Hope, Lighting and Snow are going to meet....not sure if I'm going to keep playing it....

Save yourself the time, heck even go back and play FF12, a really good game IMO.

Hope gets a little more bearable as the game progresses. I can't remember what Chapter 7 is, but he's a little less emo in the second half of the game.

I actually didn't mind the battle system too much, but it really got on my nerves how the game ended if your party leader died. Hell, the fact that you can't switch your party leader during battles was maddening at times. I wouldn't mind if they just found a halfway point between the current system and the traditional ATB system: have one player-controlled character and two AI-controlled characters with Paradigms, but let us change our party leader on the fly. At least that way we could compensate for some of the strange AI quirks (i.e. Synergists focusing all of their time boosting one character, using boosts that aren't appropriate for the situation, etc..). The Paradigm Shift system was pretty exhilarating at times, especially on some of the harder battles when you had to switch often and you didn't have recovery items to fall back on.

Overall though, the lack of freedom definitely hurts a lot. I feel like this game might have been better received if it wasn't called Final Fantasy, but that name just carries certain expectations along with it. I want my airships, I want my world maps, and I want my side-quests. And when I say "side-quests", I mean real side-quests, not just "go here, kill this guy, and get a rating and a ****ty item".

    • There is a default resolution setting in Settings > Display that can be changed with a click. You can also change the settings on a per-game basis. No CLI needed. Also, Steam has countless games that are not "[perpetual] alpha/beta games", so no need for the straw man. Plus you can use other stores as well. And console games (e.g. PS5) cost a fortune, which itself more than negates the price subsidy on the system, unless you plan on exclusively playing 1 or 2 games. It's true that you shouldn't buy a system that doesn't support the game(s) you want to play, but I think that's kinda obvious, and applies to every console as well as PC. I don't game in the living room and have no need of a Steam Machine, but there is a clear market segment that would find it useful.

RSS Guard 5.2.0 changelog: Added: Feed auto-fetch can now also be delayed while Feral GameMode is active on Linux and startup auto-fetch is skipped when GameMode is already active. (#2265) WebEngine builds can now use RSS Guard generated proxy auto-config (PAC) rules so article/web browsing follows per-account and per-feed proxy settings more closely. (#2273) Generated PAC rules now also cover related subdomains and use Public Suffix List data, so feeds such as feeds.bbc.co.uk can also proxy resources from images.bbc.co.uk. (#2273) Standard feeds can now define extra proxy domains, useful when article images, stylesheets or other page resources are loaded from a CDN or another domain that should use the same feed proxy. (#2273) RSS Guard now asks for proxy credentials when a WebEngine page needs proxy authentication and can fill credentials from the current feed proxy when available. (#2273) Network settings again include an option to ignore all cookies, which clears stored cookies and prevents new cookies from being accepted. Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now individually ignore cookies while downloading feed data. Stored cookies can now be deleted from the Tools menu. Custom skin colors can now override the feed list article count color separately from feed titles, including a separate highlighted color. (#2275) Settings dialog can now search across available settings and highlight matching controls. (#1754) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now optionally be reported as broken when they are valid but contain no articles. (#2039) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now override the application-wide feed connection timeout per feed. (#1023) Tray icon can now use a custom background color and unread-count text color, with an option to reuse the generated icon as the application icon. (#1973) Support for more benevolent parsing of Gemlog entries (#2295). Article list can now show when an article was received by RSS Guard. (#947) Feed deep discovery now actually scrapes all links found in the website and checks if they are feeds or not. This greatly enhances usability of the deep discovery mode and discovers many more feeds than before. (#2306) Search boxes now show a small dot when the feed or article list is hiding some items because of active filtering. (#873) Articles now have a shortcut-assignable action to open the homepage of the feed they belong to. (#2060) Fixed: Parallel feed updates no longer crash when multiple update results are processed at the same time. (64cf521) Links in WebEngine articles opened from feeds such as Kill the Newsletter now open correctly instead of being swallowed by the embedded page. (#2272) Relative article URLs resolution was kinda broken. (#2282) Clicking article URL did not work when the URL had "fragment" set. (#2293) The default proxy setting now uses Qt/system default proxy behavior instead of forcing no proxy. (e0263ad) WebEngine article loading now keeps the current feed context, so feed-specific proxy credentials remain available while the article page loads.
