rawr_boy81
I have an iMac and a MacBook but my MacBook is my main work horse. I fell down a flight of stairs in Wellington and unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on which way you look at it), my laptop in my bag broke my fall. So I have some questions regarding my replacement - I was tempted to go for a Windows 7 computer but given my experiences with the Windows world in the past I am nervous about having 'buyers regret' so I am going to stick it out and do it safe. Anyway, here are the questions: 1) Should I wait for the MacBook/MacBook Pro refresh? I have heard rumours that it was going to be refreshed any time soon and wonder whether I am better off waiting or should I just get what there is? 2) Should I pay a little bit extra and get the MacBook Pro 13.3 Inch model instead of the normal white MacBook? the aluminium unibody is super sexy but at the same time - are there any people here with buyers regret as so far as problematic wireless, the laptop getting hot or any other gotchas? Thank you for any advice that you may have :)
blachole
I would personally wait for the refresh. Like you I own a iMac and MacBook (although I just sold my MacBook before the refresh), but I use my iMac all the time. I sold my MacBook though because I knew the refresh would decrease the value of it by a lot since I had 1st gen uni-body. The refresh is literally right around the corner, and since it is likely to include more then just CPU/memory upgrades, I would highly suggest waiting if you can. Rudy
http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/ always check it before buying a new mac :P
Kyle A
Well the last time the MBP got an update was Jun 2009, so I'd recommend waiting. I bought a MBP 13" for school last august and I must say you will definitely like the unibody better than the plastic macbook. No gripes here... still happy with my purchase. Stetson
Another idea would be to check Apple's site now and then for a refurbished 13" MBP.
rawr_boy81
Strange that I only start getting feedback one week after I made the post lol I've already bought it, 13.3inch MacBook Pro 2.53Ghz model. I am very happy and given the minor update that the i3 and i5 bring (I doubt we'll see i7 in MacBook Pro's), I am not worried about not having the bleeding edge, infact I'm happy that I don't because based the serial number decoding my MacBook was assembled around a month ago which means any bugs or issues in the first batch would have sorted it self out by now :) Anyway, I am a very happy camper and looking forward to seeing 10.6.3 released some time soon.
