Hmmm i saw that a while a go. What wiki says on the games reception:

Tropico 3 received generally favourable reviews at Metacritic, with an average of 79% on the PC, and 76% on the Xbox 360.

Play magazine called it "a well-designed sim with just the right balance of complexity and micromanagement. It looks good, it sounds good and playing it just might teach you something. How many games can you say that about?"

IT Reviews called the game "a welcome return to the roots with plenty of new features, deep and absorbing levels of gameplay and a healthy dose of humour as you strut your dictatorial stuff."[7]

GameSpot commented that "playing a banana republic dictator in Tropico 3 might not be easy, but it certainly is rewarding."[8]

I'll give it a shot, and get back to you guys. :)

I was in the beta for cities xl. Trust me. The best city building game is still Sim city 4000. There is a huge modding community for the game though .So maybe install it and look into the modding community.

The problem with that its going to be a pain in the ass make Sim City 4000 to work with Windows 7 64bit. If you use XP or 2000 you will be fine.

Screw "old thread" screamers.

If your problem is the exact same, what's bad about pulling out an olda** thread?

IMHO it's darn correct, as it prevents redundancy and hell, really: NOTHING is wrong about it.

Problem/issue/topic old but still valid? if pitvalid == true then {

join thread;

}

else {

void; //the question needs no tackling. Just join it already!

}

I've always enjoyed playing god games like SimCity. It's been a while since I last played one, so I'm looking for alternatives.

I've heard that Tropico 3 is pretty good. Any other recommendations? The game shouldn't be older than '07.

Have you played:

Afterlife

The Impressions city-building series, Caesar III, Pharoah, etc.

The Anno series , ie Anno 1404, Anno 1701, Anno 1503, Anno 1602..

I was a beta tester for CXL..... it was meh then and its meh now. they promised this "rich mmo" that was just token trading and chat tacked onto a bland single player city builder game.

Not to mention a game studio that was wonky as hell with financial issues.

not worth your disk space.... instead I recommend something like Hinterlands, AoE, RcT, Ceaser 4, and even spore. Tropico is great as well.

Every since Simcity 4000... I've tried simsocietes, cities, cities XL... all were meh compared to simcity4 which is almost 10 years old now... so if you do find anything, please post!

SC2K FTW!!!!! Best sim game OF ALL TIME!!! but SC4 was good too.

No Sim City 4000 works just fine on Windows 7 64bit no compatibility problems at all.

oh **** ubisoft published that... not touchin them with a 10000000TB pole. worse then EA DRM.....

Your loss! The game is great and well worth the price.
