But still. Achieving high k/d ratio is much easier than get a higher combat score.

Especially with a vehicle. Got this without even trying :D :

What? Scores are so much easier not to mention pointless as they are no indication of your abilities.

Then again, getting kills in BC isn't that much harder but still, a tad more difficult than scores.

Yeah? Well, let's see your over 5k combat score screenshot :)

Had a few of those but I don't feel the need to screenshot it.

I don't even go for high scores because it's so easy to play a support class and then run around the map, throw a few med kits or repair a few tanks.

I just play my Recon class, sit back and worry about having fun than running around trying to get as many points as possible so I can show off.

Are all you guys playing on PC then?

I just played a couple of rounds of the beta for the first time and I have to say, I much prefer it over MW2.

I definitely think its better than MW2, although I bought MW2 for xbox instead of PC.. Glad I am getting this for PC. I will never play another FPS on the consoles.. Holy cow DL was right

I enjoyed Bad Company on 360. There were some shortcomings but all in all it was just fun. I've yet to experience that kind of fun and need to play MP since that game. 1943 wasn't what I hoped it would be and I stayed away from MW2. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to building a new PC and getting in on these games - but I'm going back and playing SP games on 360 I missed (Mass Effect, Batman, AC2, etc).

^ Good choice. It's definitely going to be the most played fps on the PC.

Definitely possible. Just taking a quick look at Xfire, the Beta is in 6th place today (minutes played). 5th if you disregard WoW (which is a permanent fixture in 1st ;)).

Still enjoying the Beta, but I really hope that the full version has a good server browser, or at least a Favorites list for your best servers.

I went through a bit of this thread and saw some opinions, but I figured I'd ask it again to get some more opinions.

I was a HUGE fan of Battlefield 2, and a decent fan of the Modern Warfare series, and I have recently looked at some of the videos for BC2. I was never interested in the first one, but after looking at these videos, it almost looks like a miniaturized BF2, and I am really interested. I've read a lot of mixed opinions about the PC beta though, so what are the opinions of people here that have played the PC beta?

Is it worth pre-ordering to get beta access?

If you're going to buy it anyway, then yes, for sure! Having never played Battlefield myself, but plenty of other FPS, it took me a little bit to get used to it. But now that I'm fully integrated I can hit the ground running when the full version is released. And I'm having plenty of fun :)

Well that's the thing, I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it. Some of the negatives I've heard are that it's real buggy and the performance on the PC is real bad, and doesn't look to great on the PC. I was wondering if these are consistent things, and if there is anything else I should be worried about.

I was just like you before playing the PC beta. It's not exactly the same as BF2, but it's definitely similar. For one thing, the only air vehicles in the game are helicopters. There are no jets which I see as a blessing because jets were very annoying in BF2. Aside from that, the gameplay is very similar. I'd say it's a little easier and much more fun. The graphics are clearly better and the buildings in the game are virtually destructible which adds a whole new element of gameplay.

There are, however, two major differences: BC2 uses Gears of War-style health. Basically, if you hide after getting hurt your health will slowly regenerate. Also, BF2 had 7 classes but BC2 has 4 (all of which incorporate aspects of the classes in BF2). For example, the Assault class in BC2 has an ammo bag whereas the Support class has it in BF2. Another example is the Recon class in BC2. It has C4 as well as a Sniper so it's basically a combination of the Sniper and Special Forces class in BF2.

Personally, I like the fact that BC2 has less classes. It cuts down on the complexity of the game class-wise, but it makes things easier. I noticed that people actually work together and tend to use the right class for the right situation. In BF2, I often find myself with players not doing anything right because they're playing the wrong class. In BC2, I'd see a tank roll in and watch two of my teammates run toward it as a Recon and an Engineer, both of whom can take out a tank with C4s or rockets (respectively).

If you're a huge fan of the Battlefield games, then I'd say yes - it's worth pre-ordering the game to play the beta. You get a chance to play the game early and you get a bunch of weapons right off the bat for the retail version (if you pre-order the limited edition). And if you're worried about poor performance and bugs, then I'd say no - it isn't worth pre-ordering. The PC beta isn't perfect and it's intended to be like that. The retail version will have a more complete feature set as well as performance enhancements and general fixes here and there.

Well that's the thing, I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it. Some of the negatives I've heard are that it's real buggy and the performance on the PC is real bad, and doesn't look to great on the PC. Its a BETA, what part of BETA do people not understand? Im not attacking you but the negatives youve heard, im attacking those people.

People obviously dont understand when this beta came out it was 6 weeks OLDER then the BETA they had. So yeah ITS GOING TO BE BUGGY< but its the best they could give us instead of a REAL BIG MESSY BETA.

I havent had any issues, only performance issue is either DX11 on ATI cards or stupid HBAO. I turned HBAO off got amazing fps, turned AA/AF to x1 because I can careless about those and got more fps.

Im averaging 75fps on 1280*768 all HIGH.

I need to get a fraps benchmark done sooner or later lol. But yeah, my system is a 260 216. I can do 1080 @ 48FPS and 38 at HEAVY parts. Other then that its MORE then playable but I prefer 1280

Award score is from Ribbons, Medals etc. and some of the major ribbons are worth 5000 points, so get a few of those in one game and it'll put you above and beyond 20.000 easily.

That explains a bit then, I got 100 headshots and few others that round. I'm kinda hooked on this game, not sure what I ever saw in MW2 tbh.

What you saw in MW2 was what everyone saw including me. A great FPS from infinity ward with more killstreaks, etc. Everyone couldnt stop talking about the killstreaks and thats one thing I miss form that game as i play Cod4 everyday on my PC but the thing is, I still have MW2 for my 360. Ill always play it. Its a Run and shoot FPS, thats the point of it.

BF BC2 is actually a BF game. Requires skill.
