Basecamping is getting worse grrrrrrrrr

I know. Finally jumped on tonight and it was basically to the point where in BF2 you spawn at the first flag in Karkand and your cornered everywhere. Not a so happy feeling. Good thing is, I just read there latest blog and they are working on a server browser client fix, as well as others. I know from experience from the launch of BF2 that this was expected, but the server browser I believed they would of had down perfect seeing how now, it takes a few seconds before you load 200+ servers on BF2, and the Stop Update button actually works right away when you click it.

I just think with the Frostbite being a new engine, they tried a new code for the server browser. While I dont blame them, at the same time im a coder who usually uses what works, and optimizes it / moves onto news ways in the background. Its like going from html tables to web 2.0 div coding. I stayed with tables, while i was learning 2.0 in the background.

But, I have faith in DICE. Ive never had faith in EA after a few games/reasons not only battlefield. But, I plan on keeping faith with in DICE and hopefully SOONER they fix the issues rather then 5 major updates later.

Worst thing is, No Team Balance and Base Camping. The other problems i can "deal" with, but when you get in a game finally and cant even move, that makes me furious.

can i make a request? if you play bfbc2 and you're younger than 25 and see me (Zombiefly) can you please not shoot me? I'm 37 now and having difficulty competing against the lightning reactions of you young gamers!.... :)

love the game. really looking forward to 1943 as the first level of bfbfc2 has given me the WWII taster I was craving! :)

Haha no problem man, ill be sure to turn my zomebifly-dar on :ninja:

But, I wish they would put a date on 1943. I loved it for 360 but I can only fly really good on PC and no I dont have a joystrick/flightstick. Im just good flying with the mouse.

so because your having problems with the final game that added a lot of optimization and etc, you think pc gaming is a pain? Lmao are you confused?

Something mist be wrong on your end if your getting CRASHES. Check your drivers. If you have an ati card good lucky with that. But Its your choice what you like don't dump on pc's because you like something simple like consoles.

@Billius: ARE YOU NEW to this thread? Follow battlefield blog. Issuses should be fixed after tonight there last big maintaineance. If you don't like it QUIT PLAYING. The more people like you stop playing the less the stress on servers. All this is happening because of the influx of people. There's long term players like me, sethos, dl, anaron, etc. Then there's people like you that complain. Hell besides the ea server issues whenever I got past logging in the game ran fine. Haven't played since yesterday because I'm waiting till tomorrow morning after all the maintainance is done.

I'm not. And like you said specifically ati users. I'm sorry but you cnt blame dice for atis lack of good driver. I think beta drivers/ ati catalyst 9.x or 10 work but yeah about that.

I blame ati for crappy drivers like always. And that's me. I've always had problems with ati. Ever since 2003-4. So I'm speaking from

my experience not got everyone.

Like I said the game crashes is YOUR problem. Not DICE's.

buddy, get off this games ****...

people are having issues with the game, some aren't. good on ya if you are not but a lot of people are. why can they not share their opinion without being pestered by you?

The CTD's are not a driver problem. I had NONE since release day (and had played tons) until the r6 server update and now I get them often, that points to a network problem with bc2 causing ctd's for people.

The CTD's people got using the server browser in the beta when the master server was having issues further reinforces this. So yeah its DICES problem.

it's not, i can't play the single player game with my 8800gt with the latest drivers (one's that got pulled) and the previous ones.

I don't mind the basecamping. If people would use squads how they are supposed to be used (i.e. ACTUALLY USE THEM!) then basecamping wouldn't matter since you can spawn on squadmate.

I hope DICE works on the team balancing, it's desperately needed. I find myself checking the scoreboard every so often just to make sure it's not completely out of whack.

I am loving the desert map with the ship in it. God, what a great map that is (I can't remember the map names for anything).

Arica Harbor? I like that map too, I believe its Arica. Ive been searching / adding to favorites all the servers with arica haha.

Gonna probably burn out the map but oh well. I also see myself checking scoreboard more for team then score haha.

@Rajput: Great comment there buddy. Seeing how im not on the games ****(i added the stars and know exactly what you mean, kthanks). You just fail to realize that im tired of people blaming a game for all there problems, regardless if its this game, mw(not 2), bf2, bf2142, etc. People are still complaining about 1942 not working right with 7 and thats DICE's fault. Em yeah ok. Please check status quo and get back to me, kthanks.

btw, an 8800GT shouldnt be able to play this game unless its 1024*768 @ low. I popped in my 9600GT in my familys pre built dual core 2.6 tower and that ran BC2 @ 1024*768 Medium-High Playable. No crashes yet. But at work i have people coming in everyday, "why is it my game didnt crash in beta, but now it does", idk, whats your hardware "intel, ATI" or "AMD, ATI". Those who come in regularly with a Nvidia say "nope no problems, they actually optimized it so now my 260 can play @ 1080 without problems unlike the beta". Althou they state a 7600GT as MINIMUM, no one should be playing a PC game if its barely or at minimum. That 8800GT is powerful, but dont expect it to do much. This game deserves more power.

That above was the same problem me and DM were having. Same cards(260 216), equivalent CPU's and the game still wouldnt let us do 1080. I could, he couldnt, but even when I could, it couldve ran better like it does now.

But, im done posting replys to people who are having problems, if your having a problem fine, i wont "pester" you. There are you happy rajput?

The only "fixes' i have was either getting Beta of the ATI drivers, which usually fixes it, or setting AI to max like stated before.

It's Africa Harbour. ;)

Anyway, lets tone things down a bit. Sikh - I understand what you're saying. Thing is, we don't know the inner-workings of the game's code. The issue with ATI video cards could be driver-related, game-related, or a hybrid of the two. Bottom line is we really don't know the cause of the issue. Just that it only seems to affect some ATI users. If it turns out to be an issue with the game, then lets blame DICE and hope that they fix it soon with a patch. If it turns out to be driver-related, then lets blame ATI and hope that they fix it soon with their next driver release or a hotfix. Mmm'k?

Sure thing man. I just didnt like rajputs tone. I understand if he's saying im pestering people, no need to say im on the games d**k or any other name for that matter.

Also, I thought the same thing, check it again, its ARICA. My friend corrected me tonight as we were talking about this game and im like "NO". Went on my phone, its arica. I know right.... couldnt just make it africa harbor :).

ARICA HARBOR (ps3 beta map)

africa-harbor_sm.jpg

Following the results of the armor assault at Atacama, U.S Command insists on a similar action to capture the port of Arica. The assault group will launch a "break through" action directly at the Russian base. If the fight dictates, the Battle Group will cut directly through the town located on the axis of advance. Collateral damage is of no consequence. The Russian base must be destroyed in order to cross the desert and reach the port. Heavy casualties are expected on both sides.

Above taken exactly from website. Did a quick google, couldnt find the offical announcement from dice or the posted map list on neowin or in this thread i believe it was.

Oh my, you're right. It is Arica. I can't believe I read it as Africa this whole time... :pinch:

I blame the Internet. I first read it as Africa on gaming news sites before the PS3 beta started.

*hugs his BC2 disk case* I think I'm in love! If anyone plays this on PC feel free to add me (.vamp is the BC2 name) and I'll throw first aid at your head when you're feeling woozy or electrocute you if you're having a nap. Would be fun to play with some Neowiners!

8800GT? I have an 8800GT and it runs perfect. Set on Medium and up no low. (granted it doesnt look the greatest as some of those screenshots out there, but its definitely not on low or looks crappy. Bloom off. No AA, Resolution at 1920x1200 and I get a descent 30+ FPS. It plays fine. No crashes, no unstability, no slow downs. So im not sure where you're getting your info on about the 8800GT. Runs fine on high resolutions above Low. That being said, I would love a new card though, so I can crank everything to High.

Played like half a round of hardcore squad deathmatch on Arica and I think I was going "FFFFFUUUUUU" the whole time. Just way too much camping. I'm used to venturing out and looking for others to kill but everyone was hunkered down. I can't say I like the mode all that much. Maybe I should try it in Rush.

ya, I have an 8800gt running on medium at 1680X1050. I have no issues at all.

I started getting them after the R4 release. Mostly though, I get a display driver crash. That could be ATI's fault (problem with the driver) or it could be a bug in the game.

I have a friend with an nvidia card that started getting them recently as well. I don't get a display driver crash, the game just exits to desktop immediately. No errors of any kind.

I just tried this mode for the first time myself today, and it sounds like this is just how the people play it. So if our experiences are indeed indicative of how people play this mode, I will never play it again. I just do not find any fun at all in almost every person being a sniper. Just not my cup of tea.

I am actually starting to get slightly bored with Conquest too which is my favorite mode. Just needs more maps.

8800gt is better then a 9600gt so what he says makes no sense....

i run the game @ 1440x900 with 2xAA and 4xAF and on high and it runs great... My 8800 is slightly overclocked, but it keeps up with everything i throw at it still.

yeah, the 8800 is better than the 9600 so I dont know what he is going on about. My 8800 also is keeping up with everything I throw at it as well, quite happy I purchased this card back then.

I was also playing Conquest exclusively. I guess I'll try Rush now. Didn't try it much since you're more likely to get owned if you have a crappy squad/team.

    • SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500 hands on by Steven Parker I was offered the chance to test out the SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500, and full disclosure, they let me keep it regardless of my findings. Anyway, I jumped at the chance due to my long hours sitting at my desk, mousing around. Apologies for the knife cut across the top of the box; that was my doing, being a bit too heavy-handed with opening up the outer packaging. First up, what's in the box: SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500 1x Type-C charging cable User Manual 1-Year Warranty (card) In short, everything you need to get started. According to the official Amazon listing, here are the key features: Full-Hand Air Compression: OS500 wraps your fingers, palm, and wrist with multi-chamber air compression for a complete hand relaxation experience. The extended massage chamber helps cover more of the hand and wrist area than standard palm-only hand massagers Palm Kneading with 6 Modes & 6 Intensities: Built-in palm kneading rollers add a hands-on massage feel, while 6 preset modes and 6 pressure levels let you choose the comfort level that fits your day—from gentle relaxation to a firmer full-hand massage 3 Heat Levels with Cooling Fan: Choose from 104°F, 113°F or 122°F warmth to suit different seasons and comfort preferences. The built-in cooling fan helps reduce stuffiness during heated sessions, keeping your hand feeling fresh and comfortable Easy Visual Display & Smart Timer: The digital image display clearly shows massage area, mode, intensity, heat level, and remaining time at a glance. Select 10, 15, or 20-minute sessions for quick office breaks, evening relaxation, or everyday hand care Rechargeable, Cordless & Comfortable: A 3000mAh battery supports over 90 minutes of full-function use on a full charge, with convenient USB-C charging. The soft inner lining, smooth ABS/PU finish, and premium black-gold design make OS500 ideal for home, office, or gifting With all that out of the way, here are my own findings. I gave it a try on both left and right hands, and as you can maybe see from the above YouTube Short, (sorry for the shaky video), my whole hand fits in, but my wrist barely enters the Hand Massager. I was able to push through a bit more with my fingertips extending out the other end to get a bit of massaging on the start of my wrist. Usage For some reason, there is a strap that is very difficult to fasten to my wrist with one hand. I am not sure what function it has, and it isn't mentioned in the user manual. The only thing I could find was in the product images that claimed "wrist precision". Unlike the Bob and Brad Hand Massager, this device does not massage the wrist anyway, even though a "wrist mode" is mentioned, which must be for smaller hands than I have, as it is mainly intended for the hand and fingers. In addition, for its steeper price, there are no disposable gloves provided in the box, which is a bit of an issue considering the internal cover (which appears to be elasticated nylon) cannot be removed for washing; so you are left with only one choice: always thoroughly wash your hands before using it. I can imagine this thing getting a bit grimy after a period of use, and that is a bit of a shame. With that said, the buttons on the device, from left to right, do the following: Heat button: 3-level heat control at 104°F, 113°F, or 122°F Mode button: Auto mode Circular mode Soothing mode Relax mode Palm and fingers mode Palm and wrist mode Intensity button: from (First-time users) 15Ka, 25Ka, 35Ka, 45Ka, 55Ka, 60Ka (Intensive relief) Knead button: on or off (6 pressure levels) Power button: Long-press to turn on or off Cooling button: turn on or off the cooling fan Also, in the product imagery, it states there are 36 "custom modes," but nowhere is it listed what these modes are. I can only imagine that they mean a combination of all of the above settings in different intensity levels. The device itself seems to rely on a single "kneading" mechanism located at the palm area of the hand, which spins when in use, and the other massage features are mainly utilized through the air sacs, increasing and decreasing at various levels on the hand and fingers. I am not sure it offered too much relief for someone who is typing and operating a mouse for hours at a time; further testing may be required. It does feel nice, though. Finally, you may be wondering how this fits into the scope of a tech website? Well, let me tell you something: sometimes I sit for up to 15 hours working on Neowin, and although I take breaks in between, it takes a toll on my body. I think in the immediate absence of a partner to apply relief, a good massager like this Hand Massager can shed the strains of the day in just a couple of 15-minute bursts. On the official website, this has an MSRP of $99.99, but luckily for our readers, it is selling at $10 off for just $89.99 right now on Amazon. SKG Hand Massager with Heat OS500 for $89.99 (with $10 off coupon), $99.99 MSRP For me, this gets a thumbs hands(?) down. However, it could be improved by making it so that the protective covering could be removed and thrown into the washing machine, or get yourself some disposable gloves to use with it. • We check out the SKG PS700 Neck Massager by Steven Parker I was offered the chance to test out the SKG PS700 Neck Massager, and full disclosure, they let me keep it regardless of my findings. Anyway, I jumped at the chance due to my long hours sitting at my desk; I figured it could offer some neck pain relief. What's in the box: SKG PS700-2 Neck Massager Rechargeable Battery (inside massager) Type-C USB cable User Manual Quick Start guide 1-Year Warranty In short, everything you need to get started. According to the official listing, here are the key features: Biomimetic Kneading & High Torque Motor: Designed with innovative biomimetic kneading heads that perfectly simulate the touch of human hands. Powered by a high-torque motor, this massager delivers powerful and precise deep tissue relief to effectively target stiff neck muscles and release built-up tension Soothing Heat & Integrated Sound Relaxation: Experience the ultimate Relaxationation with our dual-action approach. SKG backs this device with dedicated customer service, making it a thoughtful tech-health gift for family and friends App & Bluetooth Music Control: Connect via Bluetooth to control your massage settings through the dedicated app and enjoy your favorite music during your massage session for a fully customizable and immersive relaxation experience Red Light Warmth Technology: Features advanced red light warmth technology that penetrates deep into neck muscles to enhance blood circulation and provide soothing comfort while relieving muscle tension and stiffness Design With all that out of the way, here are my own findings. SKG does not say what materials are used to make the neck massager. However, on the product website, it mentions "soft-touch silicone" with what looks like PU leather cushioning, with the rest being mostly made up of plastics. On the inside of the massager, there are two "biomimetic kneading heads" that are motorized for the different styles of massage, which are not actually listed at all in the paper user manual, but the standard included modes are: De-stress mode, Mediation mode, Relax mode, Shiatsu mode. The massager looks quite premium and is actually very comfortable to wear. This massager is small and light enough to go anywhere, as it doesn't get in the way of anything, so I was able to use it in the chair while writing this review. Unlike the back massager, SKG does not warn in the user guide not to use it for more than 30 minutes a day (or two 15-minute sessions). However, there is a long laundry list of important safeguards to consider before and during the use of the device, and it is warned that the neck massager is not waterproof. It also includes a 1,400mAh battery with a rated power of 14W and input of 5V, which is the standard for up to USB 3.0 power (although the Amperage is not mentioned at all). SKG does not say how long it takes to charge, but a quick calculation at 2A (if that is what it is) would mean it would take roughly 1.5 hrs to charge from empty. In any case, the light around the button changes from orange to green on a full charge. In addition, it is not possible to use the device while it is charging. On the right of the neck massager is the On/Off and modes button, which also acts as a joystick. You can operate all the modes directly from the power button, as well as the app, which I'll get into a bit later: Push up: Short press to adjust Heat levels On/Off button: long press Mode Switching: Short press (while in operation) ➕ Push left: increase Music volume ➖ push right: decrease Music volume Push down: Short-press to turn Music on or off The massager defaults to De-stress mode, and it is not stated anywhere if the neck massager has overheat protection. This time around, regarding heat, the only detail I could find is that it has "triple action soothing heat." The temperature stages are not listed anywhere in the paper manual, Amazon listing, or official website. The heat levels can be adjusted through the app or directly on the device using the joystick button. Usage There's also the SKG Health app, which makes using the massager far easier than feeling around for the button on the side of your neck. If the app is stopped, you are required to log in with a verification code over email, which I am not too pleased with, as this means it will only work that way for however long SKG decides to support it through said app. However, I was not able to get the app to connect to the OS500, which I have reported back to my contact. Bluetooth appeared to be working on the neck massager as it became available to pair with my phone, but the SKG app failed to discover it. Before I forget, there's also a switch next to the USB charging port to deactivate and activate the Voice Prompt, which, when enabled, audibly tells the user when switching intensities, modes, or connecting to the app and informs when the massages start and are completed. That said, on to my likes and dislikes, which are listed below. What I didn't like Unable to connect the Neck Massager to the app Use through the mobile app relies on continued support from SKG What I liked Can be used without the app Cordless use Light and comfortable to wear Heat is also quite comfortable Where to buy: According to the official website, this has an MSRP of $249.99, but is currently $50 (on Amazon). To sweeten the deal a bit more, there's also an in-page coupon that knocks a further $20 off the price. SKG PS700-2 Neck Massager for $179.99 on Amazon (was $199.99) Apply the in-page $20 off coupon for the final price of $179.99 Just like the back massager, this gets a confused thumbs up (due to the cost). However, I cannot rate it through app usage as it failed to connect. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
