Well, today i picked up Vietnam and BFBC2 for the PC (i had previously owned BC2 on the 360) and i went 1-6 on my first match. I used to do great on the xbox, but i don't even know where i am dieing from in this game. I spawn, i move, i randomly die. There was a rampant hacker on the server, but beyond that is the skill gap just THAT large? I enjoy a challenge, but not something frustrating. I was decent on 360, and i still got pwnd some games, but i always felt like i had a chance.

Yeah, I played my first PC matches this morning (coming from 360 also, haven't played in a few months). It's definitely a learning curve but the game feels much more fluid and quick, which I like. I wish I had started on the PC at release. I think I'll get Vietnam in a week or two.

My only issue is my PC. I'm playing on a '08 MacBook Pro so, I pretty much have to run and Medium-Low settings. Funny enough, it still looks as good (if not slightly better) than 360. But nevermind that...gotta love keyboard/mouse :)

Vietnam expansion is fantastic - picked it up today. Definitely worthy of the price I paid for it.

Snipers are bloody annoying though, every time I move a new one has popped up and blown me.

The battle for Operation Hastings should start soon:

Wonder what version will have it unlocked first.

So what do you need to do? Easy. You and all your friends playing on PS3, PC, or Xbox 360 need to perform 69 million team actions across Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. So what?s a team action? Well, it?s any and all of these: resupply, revive, heal, spot, and repair. We start counting on December 21st, so make sure you contribute from the start!
So I guess it will be PS3, PC and 360 actions combined. It shouldn't take too long... that's if console players aren't too busy sniping in a bush some where...

It's said else where that it will be a competition between the 3 systems. Look at the website I posted.. it says PC vs. PS3 vs. xbox 360.

Anyways, anyone have any issues with the new MSE2 and this game? Every time I quit the game now MSE wants to send a bunch of "suspicious" files to Microsoft for inspection. It's just the game .exe and some punkbuster module though.

Operation Hastings counter is now active ;) And I'm glad to report that the PC is winning :D

Not for nothing, but I am willing to bet almost anything PC will easily take this. While I play on the PC, i see med kits, ammo boxes, whatever the case may be, literally all over the place. When I used to play on the 360, only way I would get anything was to ask someone in the squad I was with to drop it. I just think since PC players are more accustomed to the game, a game which especially when it had it's start on the PC actually emphasized the team and squad aspect even more then it does now, so yeah, PC players got this little contest no problem at all. I am 98% positive about that.

Not even sure what to do anymore lol. No matter what map i play i don't even have oppertunities to kill people - i either get picked off at a distance, or i'll just randomly die. Not sure how i can get better if i can't find a match where i'm not totally absolutely dominated. Not to mention "Play Now" always puts me in an empty server, so i'm stuck surfing the server browser until i find a normal server that's not stuck on one map, has a high ping, or is changed some way or another from the original game. I hate to say it, but i miss the Xbox version.

Without causing any offence, that's because the average skill level of an xbox player compared to the average skill level of PC player is massively different. Stick at it, and be prepared to die lots.

No, the countdown was started officially on the 21st.

Jon, this. No 3 day advantage, they all started the same day.

Are you not filtering the server results at all? Make sure you have Not Full and Not Empty enabled. I personally always choose punkbuster servers as that means no drastic changes to the maps or how the game modes are played AFAIK, and alot of the times I also look for EA only servers. It sounds like you are having a decent amount of issues that you can avoid by simple checking off a few options within the server browser.

Oh, i get that totally. I am just not sure how to proceed getting better, i bought the game to have fun and I'm having anything but that so far. I preferred the way i used to do, prowl around and get kills, rather then the way it seems to be on the PC which is sit back, camp and frag. I preferred close up and person confrontations, not people sniping with ____ gun. It also just might be the style of Vietnam, I've not played the original on PC yet, but it could just be the different play style of the games.

That's how I play. Don't think Vietnam reflects vanilla BC2 because it doesn't. Vietnam has damaged increased by twenty five percent across all weapons, everyone dies quicker.

I am hoping to hop on Vietnam in about 90 minutes to 120 minutes, will only get to play about an hour or so, but if I do, first thing I will do is take a snap shot of my server browser settings, I really think that will help you out a whole, whole lot, as you will avoid crappy servers. Also if you want, feel free to add me as a friend in the game, name is same as here, DirtyLarry. I am by no means the best player, but I am willing to play with you and see if that helps things out at all. And just an FYI, I never, ever snipe, not my style at all, so I do die a decent amount, it is why my K/D ratio is right now .96. I prefer to get in the action, so if that means dying I do not care, I just want to get into wherever the big firefights are. Also if there is an open tank, I will take it, so if I have a good gunner, it is pretty much guaranteed a decent amount of points. So if you do not like tanks, totally understand, but just a warning, I love them personally, which is why I have one as my BFBC2 signature. laugh.gif

Look for 24/26/28 player servers. Part of the difference is that the pc has 32 player servers and they are a lot more hectic. Your survival rate goes down drastically on a 32 player server. And then there is the theory that 32 player servers have worse hit reg, though I've seen no evidence to back that claim up.

The player limit can be modified without the server being forced to be flagged as hardcore, so try those out.

Also if you're willing to suffer a bad ping you can play with me and I'll show you how I play. I'm not trying to brag or anything but *most* games I finish top 3 and maybe not with the best kdr but my SPM is usually pretty high.

Edit: DirtyLarry beat me to the offer.

But yeah, playing with some one is a sure way to increase your enjoyment of the game too.

As I promised Ruran, as I do think it will help in your overall enjoyment, here is a screenshot of my server settings. I never, ever choose Play Now, I always search and manually choose the best server...

BFBC2_ServerSettings.jpg

Also as I indicated, sometimes I also check of EA Server, but that does limit the search greatly, and more often then not there are no EA servers to be found with the settings I use, but choosing an official EA server will 100% guarantee the game will not be modded at all.

So I am finally hopping on now to play for a little bit, only going to be a round or two as I have to go to bed and get to work tomorrow. I should be playing a decent amount though over the next 10 days or so, especially after the holiday weekend, as I have off from work all next week.

    • WordArt was cool. We now have color fonts as a substitute although Word only supports COLRv0 and COLRv1 (Fraud OS 11 only). The OpenType SVG color font format needs to be supported by Office. Adobe's apps support it
    • i backup my files, incl keepass to my proton drive using Syncback which i paid for (thanks Warwagon!). they have a free version but i can't remember what it does and doesn't do anymore. anyways, it's really, really simple and easy to use. i also periodically keep backups of my keepass onsite especially when i've changed or added a password that is important to me. if you don't wanna spend time on the syncthing setup, get syncback. haha i even got my dad to use it for his backups to usb and he doesn't even need my help!!! (thank god!)
