Redirecting a webpage

Question

I have a friend with a domain that forwards to a product page for something called Juice Plus.

We would like to control the search terms (keywords) as the current base site does a horrible job of directing people to his local sales area. Knowing already that meta tags are frowned upon by search engines, what would be the best way to do this?

Currently the domain is just being forwarded with a 301 redirection, but that will not allow up to manually SEO his site.

Keywords are ignored by all major search engines.

There is no good way to do what you are looking for, unless you get access to the real site and improve it, set up adwords, etc.

Anything you do will at best result in nothing, and at worst will damage the other sites SEO by having duplicate content.

The only thing you could do is make more of a "fan" site, about the product and the like, with links to the product, but none of the content can be copied from the site, you need to change the wording to keep Google and other sites from seeing it as Duplicate Content, and giving both sites a negative hit on seo.
