Colorado Nudist Causes Stir While Gardening Topless

BOULDER, Colo. -- A nudist in Boulder who was threatened with eviction last spring for gardening outside wearing only pasties and a thong has caused another stir by gardening topless.

At least four callers told police 52-year-old Catharine Pierce was in her yard topless on Wednesday. State law prohibits exposed genitals, but Pierce was wearing a thong and gardening gloves.

Police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley says an officer told Pierce to consider wearing a shirt because children at the school across the street were playing outside.

Pierce's husband then complained to police. Huntley says a police supervisor agreed with Pierce's husband that Pierce wasn't breaking any laws.

Boulder is considering expanding its anti-nudity law.

-1. i don't have anything against the elderly, but id rather not see those pics. :p

from the article "At least four callers told police 52-year-old Catharine Pierce was in her yard topless on Wednesday..."

Pics or it didn't happen.

+1 :p

How is it ok for a 52 year old woman to be gardening topless opposite a school full of kids? What if this was a 52 year old male with his wang out in front of a school? I understand that wang and breast are different but that's just as indecent.

I have nothing against a pair of knockers( I do against a 52 year old pair) but I sure as hell wouldn't want my kids to have to witness that..

Boulder, CO.

No genitals, otherwise fine and dandy.

So you have a couple of boulders hanging in Boulder. (I know, bad pun).

I agree. Right across the road from a school is not the place for that. If she wants to do that she can move into the mountains or something. I bet Boulder will be passing a law to prevent this soon.

Might have been more unacceptable if she was wearing pants, but a thong?? You can't go outside in a thong even if you're wearing a shirt... hello? lol

They're not allowed to go topless, but where I live, I see women out in thongs all the time. Nothing wrong with it.

I think that if she's in her own yard, she has every right to wear what she was wearing. Her property, her body, her choice. Same goes if a guy wants to wear a thong and garden.

guess you're right... maybe the city also has the right to erect a huge sign right outside her yard, since it is not on her property... then when she complains about it, it wouldnt be that different from the people who complained about seeing her topless

I suppose it would depend on where the sign is and how big it is, but really, a city is not an individual and so the rights of each and the laws regarding each are very different. You'd have a much better argument defending protecting the children if they could see her clearly from their school. I wouldn't want my child to come out of school and see someone in their yard doing something I don't want my child to see, but it means that either I can't protect my child from seeing that, or people who are on their own property are going to lose some personal freedom. Either way it's kind of sad.

I really don't see the big deal... as long as genitals are covered big deal, oh no a set of 52 year old breats... :woot:

We go so overboard about nudity it's like it's the ultimate sin in life... there really are more important matters to be concerned with.

Even on your property if you do something that effects others, like offending them by gardening in the nude, then the city has a right to step in a pass a law that covers that (so to speak).

    • IBM are good at announcing stuff, but not at actually delivering it... How many decades ago did they announce quantum computers, and here we are in 2026, with CHINA delivering them, and IBM still talking...
    • It sounds like you’re trying to rewrite a narrative to align this layoff with your political beliefs. Games can be horrible, whatever backwards notions you have don’t change that bungie has problems, mostly with just bad games, and arrogance. When they pushed Microsoft to let them be independent they lost their way. They hired on a bunch of people and they couldn’t justify the employee count consistent with their revenue.
