Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (2010)

Yep, this is a brilliant album. I've been listening to it non stop for the past couple of weeks - I can't get enough of it. I seem to have a new favourite song each week. First it was Superfast Jellyfish, then On Melancholy Hill. Right now it's Cloud of Unknowing and Pirate Jet.

Stylo, On Melancholy Hill, Empire Ants and Superfast Jellyfish are very good songs. The rest are ok. Have to agree though, probably is the best album of the year so far.

go listen to bonobo's new album - black sands. Best album of the year. For sure. This Gorillaz album is subpar so far.

one of the most worse CD I had heared this year. By far their worse work. Seems like Damon was forced to release something before the ppl forget about them. Blur would make it better?. Dont think so...

Can't argue with an opinion :p

But what made you not like this one, too trance/ambient?

I've given the album a few listens over the past couple of days and i definitely like it, didn't blow me way though.

Stylo and Superfast Jellyfish stand out for me. Damon Albarn's delivery annoys me a bit on Rhinestone Eyes, so can't really get into that song.

well, I bought this cd about a week ago and just now got around to listening to it. I'm on "On Melancholy Hill" right now and this is the first song I've actually liked. This album is a huge disappointment for me. Guess I should have pirated it first like I usually do :(

Plastic Beach I feel spends to much time trying to get other artists out of their comfort zones. I mainly listen to The Gorillaz due to Damon Albarn's vocals. I love his sound. And I feel like plastic beach is severely lacking his vocals. A lot of the songs on the new album feel incomplete. I wouldn't say it was rushed I would say they just didn't know how to finish what they started.

Demon Days for me is one of the best albums I've ever heard and it was always going to be difficult for them to follow that album. Either by releasing something considered worse or something that is identical and thus not ground breaking. But even so I think Plastic Beach although a decent album is not great and I think if they had of been a little more conservative and took a step back to put more of themselves in to the songs instead of so many other artists that it would have turned out better.

Just my humble opinion as a Gorillaz fan :)
