bull. cable can get sub 10ms pings no bother, to first hops. adsl sucks compared to cable - its going over a medium it was never supposed to go over (copper pairs).

lammmetek - cable gets you lower ping. adsl on most english servers cap at 50 ping, that sux compared to the 20 ping i get when playing with my cable

im on 1mb from telewest

average down is about 150-250k

fastest is 500k

It differs per area, and per total number of users. In our village I think my family and my grandmother are the only ones with fast internet access. We have both ADSL and cable.
