Avatar was my plan to stop piracy

Say what now? :p

Don't get me wrong, I strongly believe that if you like a movie or (music)artist you should buy their products. But if someone wants to see if for free, they will always wait extra. And internet is getting faster and faster these days, so 45 minutes extra isn't that big of a deal. Unless this is some lame 1st april joke...

Avatar was highly pirated regardless of its quality.

I mean I even saw some sites list 1080 CAM's of this movie. Yes CAM shot on high def cameras in the cinema and transcoded to 1080 instead of whatever lower rubbish they do.

I think whatever happens pirates will keep compensating. Larger and Larger hard disks are becoming cheaper and cheaper. Internet speeds are always going up and not down. Even I can receive 50Mb internet in my home from a normal ISP at below ?30 a month.

Basically making the movies large in file size won't stop piracy. It'll just give all consumers a better product to buy (or steal).

Personally, I think they'd "lose" less to piracy if they released to DVD etc quicker than they currently do. I can't STAND going to the cinema to see a movie. Uncomfortable, too damned loud, massively overpriced, can't pause it for a pee, and you're surround by noisy <bleep>holes who won't shut the hell up.

If AVATAR has fight piracy it is because the 3D tech that made people want to experience it and because the tech is not mainstream yet, they had to go to cinemas instead of downloading it in crappy quality and of course not 3d.

Someone should actually tell him that the next time he tries to impress the audience and stating that making long duration movies is a way against piracy would certainly made people with >= average minds laugh (laugh really hard).

I believe Avatar did so well because it was original, well done, pretty cool, and wasn't the same chewed up, digested and crapped out stuff Hollywood normally outputs.

No, it was not original at all. The visuals were original but everything else is similar to Dance with the Wolves, Pocahontas and Atlantis.

Okay, to be honest, you can basically base every movie off of another movie(s).

Watch Atlantis. It's a great animated movie. Almost every character of Avatar is in that movie. From the elders to the precious fuel source the military wants to sell/mine and curious scientists/archeologists, I couldn't help but think Cameron took Avatar from Atlantis.

I enjoyed Avatar.....! Granted, the storyline was somewhat familiar as mentioned by many who write and read this post.... But i reckon that all producers of film and music can take a page from Mr Trent Reznors book (NIN).

Like he said, sure, you cant stop piracy... but, what if you release a product that makes people WANT to own it? Take for example, his album the Hand That Feeds, black disc that turns cream coloured after it heats up in your player.... PDF files that you follow as the music goes on that synchronize visually with each song through the album... or when he leaves mp3's on usb sticks hidden around venues...! or releases albums for free... just to entice you even more!!!!

If they release products that have a funky idea / design ... or just something more special to make you want to own it for the coolness of it, not just another plastic sleeve, with a piece of paper advertising other movies or crap.... and boring prints on the disc... sometimes not even decent prints...!

?True 3D experience?. The "Reality" we all live in is already in 3D. ?Why do I need a 60" TV if I have to watch it from a certain distance to see it all?. ?Why go to a cinema knowing that my CRT TV has better resolution and the sound doesn't have to be loud to hear it?. Ah, the greedy manipulated humanity. Gotta love it. (:

IMAX =/= Regular cheap movie experience.

I feel the exact opposite. To me it's the epitome of what Hollywood 'chewed up, digested and crapped out' stands for. It did well due to the hype and because people are superficial.

Aye, There's only a few films I can be bothered to go to the Cinema to see and pay the insane prices for. Our local cinema is terrible quality, often half the screen will be unfocused, you'll hear sound from the screen nextdoor etc. At home I get my perfect TV setup, decent sound, breaks whenever I want, cheap popcorn(and beer!)

As much as Cinema's will complain (see the abuse they gave Disney over Alice in Wonderland release dates) I would love day and date release for home use. Whist it wouldn't kill piracy stone dead it would go along way towards it.

ditto!

I mean, sorry but there's absolutely nothing original about this film. This story is a regurgitated version of Pocahontas at best.

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package.
