Nice. I was just looking at a few different sticky notes type apps and widgets for work today. I settled on the old Vista stick notes widget, but it was really small for my needs. I have a need for a notes module that allows me to expand it vertically like this one does. I'm glad this thread came up again because I downloaded B9 (*PreB9) and like it already. Looking forward to the updated version.

Oh, and if you could hide the app from the taskbar and instead have it in tray, that would be the icing on the cake.

Quick bug report. I know I was able to get into the preferences yesterday, but now that I try again today, I get an unhandled exception for a hard-linked resource file:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\Jan\Pictures\Design\StickyNotes for Windows\Graphics\AlertPositionBackgroundHigh.png

at System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(String filename, Boolean useEmbeddedColorManagement)

at StickyNotes.frmPreferences.UpdateGraphics()

at StickyNotes.frmPreferences.frmPreferences_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)

Thanks :)

I've added Tray support, this'll stop StickyNotes from appearing in the taskbar (they'll appear in the tray instead).

If Start in Tray is enabled, each note will have a Minimize to tray button next to the Close and New Note buttons.

wow, this has come a long way since the beginning, nice job Jan :)

Thanks

A little bit more information!

StickyNotes B9 features journals, which is a simple and effective way of managing your notes into folders.

StickyNotes B9 also features a completely redesigned notes manager, this is more consistent with StickyNotes as well as allowing for many other features.

Coming late into this thread, but:

- This is C#/WPF, right?

- Is the code available on github or such?

- Is the version you've shown in the latest screenshots available for download anywhere or are you teasing us sadistically?

1. VB (I'm a noob)

2. It's closed source

3. I'm teasing you sadistically

What would be cool is an online feature (aka saving notes to the cloud). Really be very easy to implement if it's something you would consider looking at and need an help let me know.

I'll look into it - thanks :)

1. VB (I'm a noob)

Lol the ever-persistent myth of VB == noob (VB = noob for you VB guys - noobs ).

Anyway without so much as a line of code to look at I shall have to patiently wait until you release something then, you sadistic freak .

Oh man, the teasing. I had to stop using the current version because as far as I can tell there's no way to save your notes. I had a nice long note written out for all my system's current firmware build levels that I'm working on, then I rebooted and it was gone!

B9 looks to be much more feature complete. Anxiously awaiting a new build to use with custom fonts, better formatting, and the note manager. Keep up the good work.

Oh damn I'm sorry about that :(

B9 is such as improvement over preB9 - it's literally crazy.

So I wanted to change the way you manage notes in StickyNotes, so I decided to come up with a couple of concepts.

The buttons on the left aren't final, nor are the concepts finished.

What do you think?

Nice and Clean. Though you may need some distinction on the left side. Like the Stars represent?? Like I would do some sort of category thing.. like: ToDo, [Custom Cat 1], [2],[3], and if you do add in cloud notes.. then have a [Cloud/Web/Online] category. And then have the option to categorize notes.

The stars are just placeholders.

The old context menu has been replaced with a fancy new one.

The new menu is far simpler and also much faster.

Looks good, but I can't use it :(

The setup file/.application file says "that the Application cannot be started". I'm running windows 8 pro x64

You have to click the Setup.exe file, not StickyNotes PreB9.application.

Alternatively, you can try the portable version.

Latest version looking more awesome than ever :D

Do you have an idea on pricing? Or will it be freeware? Or possibly go freeware and a small 99 cent per month of something to do save notes to cloud? I say 99 cents as surely the average joe user won't have TEXT files over 2MB in total.... surely :p

I'm not too sure to be honest :p

I've not looked into pricing methods or even ways to charge for the app, but if I do end up charging for the app, it won't be costly (~?5).

I did click on the setup.exe file, but I get the same error message. The portable version works however :)

Oops sorry, forgot you're in the UK :p. All bow down to the superior pound! :fro: 99p not 99 cent.

Ah fair enough! Yeah ?5 isn't asking too much for the amount of work that's clearly gone into it. May also attract more people to use it if you did a free version for the tight gits :p.

    • Halo: Campaign Evolved is out next month with new prequel missions by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft offered a look at the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake at the Xbox Games Showcase today. The Halo Studios-developed title is not only getting a fully remade campaign, but also new content in the form of a fresh story arc featuring Sgt. Johnson. Fans don't have to wait long, either, as Halo: Campaign Evolved is releasing next month. The new content joining the original campaign consists of three new missions that have the name "Operation: METEORITE" attached to the full project. Aside from ground-based combat, space missions are also included here. These prequel missions will take players to events set before the original campaign, where the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson duo team up for a clandestine UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel. The studio says that the story for these missions was written in collaboration with award-winning sci-fi author Troy Denning. "Operation: METEORITE gives players a chance to expand their experience with new locations, new enemy variants, more weapons from across the Halo series, and new ways to play within the Halo sandbox, all while getting to spend more time with beloved characters and witness a new event that adds to the legacy of their heroic history," adds Halo Studios. Today's new trailer showed off the game in action, including the new missions. Catch it below. Halo Campaign Evolved is coming out on July 28, 2026. It will be available across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with a $49.99 price tag. A digital premium edition will also be available for $69.99, offering five days of early access, extra in-game skins, and a digital art collection. A $199.99 physical Collector's Edition is also incoming, bringing a Master Chief statue, a Cortana chip, a Steelbook case, and more.
    • To give context to everybody, I bought about 2 sets of RAM, ddr4, 3200, 64 gb, 2 years ago. It costed me 150 usd for each set. If you buy RAM now you only incentivate companies to sell you expensive stuff, as Nvidia did.
    • KillerPDF 1.4.2 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.4.2 changelog: What's new PDF form filling. Interactive PDF forms now render their fields (text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons) as live controls. Fill them in directly and save — field values are written back into the PDF. PDF outline (bookmark) navigation. A new OUTLINES tab in the sidebar displays the document's bookmark tree. Click any entry to jump to that page. The sidebar auto-fits its width to the longest entry on open and can be dragged wider; switching back to PAGES snaps to the pages-mode width. Fixed Page rotation no longer reverts after saving. Rotations applied via the sidebar context menu now persist correctly through the save pipeline. Copied text words were out of order on PDFs where glyphs are stored in non-reading order (Issue #66). Text extraction now sorts words by position and uses a dynamic line-grouping threshold so both drag-select and Select All produce correctly ordered output. PDFs with malformed or non-standard XRef tables now open in read-only mode instead of showing "Invalid entry in XRef table" and failing entirely.
