Got mine last week, I can't put the thing down!

My only concern is that it has crashed twice while I was turning off the mobile network.

Don't use the widget mate, actually go into the settings control panel, and turn it on/off manually. Mine used to take 30 secs+ to connect and disconnect. It now takes less than 2 secs for me to connect and disconnect.

Getting my Desire today, sadly I'm pretty busy now till middle of next week and won't have too much time to fiddle about with it :( Will end up having to use the standard Orange ROM for a bit then getting a clean stock ROM there some point next week.

Whilst you can carry over the licence on Windows Mobile the code doesn't work on an Android version of Co-Pilot, it's mentioned on their site sadly, same with the traffic updates.

After some reading up on this it now seems that you CAN transfer a licence between WM and Android, just not to the iPhone platform. Saved me about ?50 including my traffic updates.

There's an OTA Firmware update available for the Desire now (and the Legend) - it's not Android 2.2. It's just a minor update that fixes some things with the HTC apps (one change i've noticed is in the Messaging app it now shows how many messages you've got in a conversation for example).

Got my Desire..... man... what a cool thing!!!

Question to other HTC Desire owners..... what are your lists of must have apps you have on your Desire???????

Looking forward to the replies!! Cheers

Got too many too list. But if you go into the market, and filter by Top Free, you really can't go wrong. I'll post a more extensive list of my apps when I get home if you want.

Aren't all Desire's already upgraded to 2.1? Mine is, so I expect the next upgrade to be the 2.2 one

Yes, they ship with 2.1 already installed. However, HTC have never officially (to my knowledge) said they will upgrade the Desire to 2.2, they aren't required too and anyone buying one purely on the assumption it will get 2.2 is a little silly :p. All they did say was the Desire was getting an "update" sometime in June to address some of the issues users are having. We are all assuming it's 2.2 at this stage.

Kewl, I have been to the market... and granted, there are tons...! Was just curious to see what everyone else is running... As i have installed like 10 different apps that basically do the same thing, and a few that don't even work... So if a few people posted their apps, and naturally, knowing that they work on the desire, could cut down on the experimentation... Also, might come accross a kewl app that i havent thought of installing.... :)

also, curious to see how people are using their desires........ almost feel dirty saying things like that ... LOL laugh.gif

Well the updates are rolling out, my Desire just notified me of an update. But I am not going to update just yet. As I have flashed it and I have heard it breaks WiFi on flashed Orange handsets...

Strange, but I'm guessing that somewhere along the line Orange must have changed some of the internals as well then. Can't see any reason why else it would break a flashed ROM.

Still no update from O2 for updates...! Anyways, 2.2 Froyo is coming to the Desire - June 27... smile.gif

'Apparently' was reading that earlier, HTC have said it's coming but not given a date had they? Plus wasn't it the 23rd June from an alleged phone call asking details about installing apps to SD card.

But you never heard this from me?. A new update is coming the 23rd of Juneand you will be able to put some apps on to the micro sd card.

Has anyone notice that when playing an MP3, the album art on the lock screen is a little jagged and blurred? The album displays nicely when browsing through my music, then again it's small so of course it looks nice. My album art is 500 x 500 by the way. Any ideas on how to make it look nice :p ?

Scirwode

The Alarm Clock is driving me nuts.

Often in the morning i snooze it, then i goes on after 5 mins. Normal because i configured it this way.

But, when i slide down the lockscreen to dismiss the alarm the screen simply unlocks and the alarm keeps beeping and there is no way to turn it off. SO i have to restart the phone. ****ing annoying.

Anyone suffering from this problem?

It is a random situation.

Krpano are you any task killers of any kind?

No, i'm running the original ROM without any task killers or anything like that.

My wife wants to kill me in the morning. lol

Damn alarm wont shut up and take a few seconds to reboot to make it stop....plus that LOUD startup sound, man that sucks.

Does anyone know how is integration with Windows Live services on the Desire?

I guess Messenger can be used with some of the 3rd party apps I have seen, is there any way to use Hotmail without downloading email over POP?

I use Windows Live Mail on my PC's which syncs your Inbox over HTTP from what i gather.

Sounds like you might have to restore it!

Got the 1.21 software update yesterday. Don't know what it fixes.

It fixed a bug where messages received from your network or numbers that appear as a name (eg. "Fitspace" - a gym) would appear as received from a random facebook contact.

Not sure what else! I know that it added a message count when viewing the list of conversations in the SMS app. And it seems a little faster booting up/shutting down, but I'm probably imagining it :D

Just to warn some of you who haven't updated the latest patch from HTC.

My phone got useless.

Can't boot anymore, white screen. (eventually it will boot, to crash a few minutes later)

Did a hard reset, didn't help.

Maybe a special case but think well before update.

Btw, as i stated in previous posts i am on a non-rooted/unmodified Desire.

Really ****ed right now.

So nice for me tomorrow.

Since i am the only one on the company with a non iPhone device. I kept bragging how better the Desire was and etc.

So tomorrow i will have to go to my boss and ask them to finally give me a company iPhone.

    • Google's next-gen Tensor AI chips might be produced by Samsung, report says by Hamid Ganji Image via Google Google’s Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) is produced in collaboration with companies such as Broadcom and TSMC, but a recent report suggests that the search giant is in talks with Samsung to hand over part of the production to the Korean tech company. According to a report by The Information, citing people familiar with the matter, Google has begun talks with Samsung about using its chip manufacturing capacity for the next generation of Tensor AI chips. Google’s upcoming TPUs are reportedly codenamed “Icefish” and will be produced using Samsung's 2-nanometer process technology. Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to produce only a portion of the next-generation Tensor chips, with most of the production remaining at TSMC. The Information says the new Tensor chips are currently in the design stage and are scheduled to enter mass production in 2028. TSMC is generally considered one of the most reliable chip manufacturing partners and is trusted by tech giants such as Apple and Google. However, the growing demand for TSMC’s AI chips, combined with the company’s focus on meeting demand from AI data centers, has reportedly prompted Google to seek additional manufacturing partners for its next-generation TPUs. Besides Samsung and TSMC, Intel could also be assigned part of the production. The Information reported this week is that Google has begun talks with Intel to produce up to three million TPUs in 2028. However, this is not the first time Google has partnered with Samsung on chip production, as Samsung has previously manufactured Tensor chips for Pixel smartphones. Google’s Tensor Processing Unit is used in cloud data centers and competes with NVIDIA’s chips, which currently dominate the market. By relying on in-house chips, Google can not only reduce its dependence on third-party providers but also create new revenue opportunities. The company has already supplied its TPUs to the AI firm Anthropic.
    • Reminder that the Premium and Ultimate plans already come with a 100 hour per month limit, which you then have to pay more to increase in 15 hour blocks.
    • It does invite Linux because MS should have been improving their products all along these years instead chose to ignore the users now this year they’re making all of these improvements to their products where as Linux doesn’t have this kind of problems in fact it has gotten so good I can even play Windows games in Steam that I no longer ever needed Windows to carry on with my life, unlike you still use Windows and chose to try beat down down those who don't use Windows because they love their LG TV. (Surprisingly I actually own a 55” LED LG TV and it has been going strong for almost 14 years, longer than any Sony TV”)
    • As much as I love owning my own hardware, it's hard to argue with the value. I'm not a huge gamer, I'd actually be interested in a cheaper plan with limited monthly hours, or even a pay-by-the-hour plan.
    • Well, they (LibreOffice/The Document Foundation) are bitchy and whiny, yes, but they're right, at least this time. It doesn't make sense to market something as "free and open source to thwart dependency on foreign companies' software" but at the same time, using the formats of said companies (Microsoft) by default. That way, you are changing nothing, essentially, you're just using another UI. We all know that users just use the defaults and almost never change them. I'm not saying they should drop other formats altogether, but they shouldn't default to the thing they're trying to run away from in the first place. If you're gonna do something, just go all the way in, don't stop in the middle, IMO. Otherwise, shut up and move along.
