Thanks for the tip.

The last paragraph is interesting:

Apple told Watchdog the following:

"If an iPhone has been damaged by liquid, the service or replacement is not covered by the Apple one year limited warranty or an AppleCare Protection Plan (APP). It would be eligible for Out Of Warranty Service. Currently, if a customer takes their iPhone to an Apple Retail Store, the warranty will only be void due to liquid damage if all indicators have been triggered.

You should try and use that agaisnt the store, and HTC.

Just found out that if your iPhone is genuinely water damaged, Apple will replace it for a refurb for £139 - Fantastic service IMO, mention that as a last resort (As it might imply that you have damaged it yourself).

I did consider it but every Windows Mobile OS has been a massive disappointment and I'm thinking 7 will just be another contender with its own problems rather

than something revolutionary.

So, Android for me (Y)

I need to do some more reading on android, because to be fair I pretty much know squat about it.

I just hope its more 'open/flexible' than Apples iPhone OS.

Oh, Android have been laughing at iOS for a long time now - It basically has everything iOS lacked, like multi-tasking for an example. It's only with iOS 4 they are

bringing it up to a competitive standard again and somehow, it's still lacking. Plus, Android feels like an OS that is constantly being developed and improved - Like the update

from 2.1 to 2.2 ( Froyo ) brings a massive speed update ( Up to 400% ) and various other features, so it feels like an actual update.

So, iOS still lacks from Apple's incompetence and very closed ways, Windows Mobile OS suffers from Microsoft's incompetence in coding and Android

is the only mobile OS I feel comfortable using; fast, feature-rich and the development of it seems to done by people who care about the OS.

At the moment, Android and especially the HTC range of phones are the talk of the town and there's a reason why the Desire is sold out left and right.

Don't hesitate man, if you're planning on upgrading anytime soon, Android, HTC and especially the Desire is the way to go (Y)

Yeah I'm fed up having to jailbreak my iPhone every update just to install applications (most decent ones cost money) to add basic **** Apple don't.

I have no idea why Apple have to gimp their software/OS when they already take pride in gimping all of their hardware ranges in comparison to competitors.

I definitely will be changing phone this year so thanks for the advice.

I've been waiting SIX WEEKS for my Desire from Orange (ordered the Black). I'm taking the fact that the Orange website is staying in stock longer and longer as a good sign that they are getting more delivered than are going out immediately.

Still, six weeks is a long time...and I'm starting to get disillusioned. I know that will pass, as I still get that child-like feeling of glee when I think about what it will be like to open the packaging when it does arrive.

I would certainly get on to them, I've got the Black Desire from Orange, I ordered it last 2 weeks ago and it arrived 5 days later after some phone calls to Orange chasing up stock and my delivery. They got stock in on the Tuesday following the last Bank Holiday and then shipped it on the Thursday for me.

Did you order yours as a new phone or an upgrade? I've gone for mine as an upgrade so they might be treating me as a low priority. If you got yours as an upgrade, then I'm going to have a very nice conversation with them tomorrow.

Do you switch phones very often? You just got the Desire and you already plan on getting the iPhone 4?

Umm, He does say that his bro loves the Desire, he is getting himself an iPhone.

LOL, no, as The Guardian said.

I always planned to get one or the other. If my bro liked the Desire, he could keep it and I would get the iPhone 4. If he didn't, I would get the Desire and he the iPhone 4.

I was a new customer, but really I don't see that it should matter, if anything as a long standing customer you would hope you would get priority.

well mine just arrived this morning.

Compared to a HTC HERO;

its wider, making it a bit uncomfortable to hold as phone.

its thinner, the screen is bigger.

Its faster than the hero, less laggy, much better for texting as the keyboard doesnt lag as much, still not as good as the iphone keyboard.

Havent used all the features yet.

The camera is faster, however it sticks out, and i fear more prone to getting scratched.

The trackpad thing is nice, however if you hover over it, it tends to go left or right, so i can use unintentional useage problems arising.

Otherwise its a good phone, the screen is nice, but nothing amazing if you ask me, maybe im just getting old and less impressed with things in general :s

Good news...

    • We need a game update frequency setting. * Right now your recent games will be auto updated overnight, and your unrecent games won't be updated. The bifurcation of recent and unrecent is fine, but we should be able to control the update frequency for both, with any of the following options: 1. Don't auto update 2. Auto update weekly 3. Auto update overnight 3. Auto update immediately (push) i.e. When I'm playing a lot, I want my recently played games to have push updates, so if a dev releases an update at 4pm, it's already downloaded on my Xbox by the time I get home. The current overnight cadence leaves a lot of wasted time waiting for updates on slow connections. My infrequently played games in ok with deferring to overnight, or maybe weekly, but let the users control their frequency. Basing it on data and last played sounds smart but ignores the human reality that often when I'm busiest and have the least time for games is when it sucks the most to come home and find a huge update list waiting for you.
    • Genocide is intent to exterminate and both the Israeli government AND its people openly declare, even boast about their intent to exterminate Arabs. This society of sick psychopaths has even made songs about it. Zionist means believing Israel should exist as an religious ethno-state where only Jews have rights and everyone else is second class citizen. As for the blood libel thing, we already know zionists get off on killing children. We also know Israel is a safe heaven for all the pedophiles and rapists of the world. Honestly, after what we saw in the Epstein files, I wouldn't put anything past this depraved death cult. Of course all atrocities committed by tHe wOrLds mOsT mOrAl aRmY are always "unproven or taken out of context". Unfortunately for them, their soldiers are dumb enough to leave a trail of their war crimes all over social media. Then again, when you live in a society that's obsessed with death and destruction, posting videos of yourself in the act of ransacking homes and desecrating religious monuments earns you brownie points I guess. Israel is the only society in the world where people come out on the roads for the right to **** prisoners. Also claiming that the BBC said this and AP said that without so much as a link has gotten me curious. Are all zionists this dumb? I really hope you aren't getting paid for this because this is some low effort propaganda.
    • Microsoft is bringing big performance improvements to OneDrive on Mac by Taras Buria Microsoft has announced a major update for the OneDrive client on macOS. Today, the company released version 26.098, promising significantly faster sync, optimized CPU usage, a smaller memory footprint, and better energy efficiency. In a newly published blog post, Microsoft acknowledged that changes implemented in OneDrive for Mac in 2022 brought some unwanted side effects. Due to architectural changes and the need to keep the OneDrive sync engine unchanged, Microsoft created a hidden cache folder. With time, it would cause reliability and performance issues for customers. Now, Microsoft is ditching the old engine for native sync, delivering a faster, more reliable experience. As a result of this change, OneDrive for Mac now integrates more deeply into the operating system, offers about two times faster sync performance, and uses fewer system resources. While the hidden folder still exists, the app only uses it to store files that have not been uploaded yet, link file types, and macOS-related packages. In total, even when holding hundreds of files, the temporary folder does not take more than a couple of megabytes on the drive. Besides optimizations, the new sync engine enables external drive support, allowing you to keep your OneDrive folder on a removable drive (it should meet all the requirements). Microsoft is now rolling out the updated OneDrive client for Microsoft 365 Insiders. To check if your Mac has the new sync engine, go to the About tab and check the app version. If it ends with something like 26H, you are on the new engine. If not, you are on the old one. Microsoft says it will take a few weeks to complete the rollout to Insiders, but it won't say when to expect the update in the stable channel. Big performance updates for OneDrive on Mac came right after Microsoft confirmed it would soon kill document editing in Office 2019 for Mac due to expiring certificates. This change will force users to look for alternatives or switch to Microsoft 365.
