Found an annoying problem, I have a Wireless AP in my house which I let the phone connect to when I'm at home and then I have 3G Internet when I'm out of the house. Normally, when I get out of range

it switches to the 3G network just fine but when it loses connection to the AP ( When I turn off the power to my systems, don't like standby power and the AP is among them ) it refuses to connect to the 3G network, enabling / disabling the WiFi or the 3G Network connection

doesn't help one bit and to get it working, you either have to be near the AP again ( When it's on ) or switch off the phone and back on again =/

It's becoming quite a problem when I wake up and have to turn on power to all my stuff to get a wireless connection and then let it all sit for the entire day,

for me to get out of range and let it switch to 3G.

You cannot unload the SenseUI by default.

However you can use any of the many other home screen options.

They kind of cheated a bit about that.......becaue during the pre-release there was a video showing how easy was to go back to the default Android.

Later they removed that option.

They go further into that and stop you from using their widgets with other home screens.

I look forward to the next Android release, where apparently it wont be allowed to "cover" Android with UIs.....just like Win7 Mobile.

Imo, the best choice ever.

meh..... i just rooted my phone, and installed the AOSP 2.2 git..... well worth it!!!!

Can't be arsed to root it yet, seems like an overcomplicated process. Not to mention that you might brick your phone. Can I ask which guide you followed?

Indeed, would be interested to know as well. Also, what bootloader are you on now?

You won't brick anything using the Modaco Risk Free method. Also it's very rare to brick it using other guides too. People usually get bricks when they don't' read properly and flash the wrong files or flash without following the instructions properly.

Rooting is easy as anything anyway and if you want the ability to completely backup the entire phone using Nandroid then it's the only way to go especially as custom ROMs enable new features and unlock hidden performance.

My Desire is running Pays Sparta 1.2 and is overclocked to 1.26GHz with the CPU undervolted to improve battery life at the same time and a SetCPU profile set up to drop the phone to 245MHz when the screen is turned off to further improve battery life.

You can always get rid of Sense on the Desire if you're rooted.

well, initially followed the link above, as the overview.....

primary list of steps : http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/67098-how-flash-debrand-your-desire.html

additional steps : http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/310794/10-june-v1-8-1-7-fake-flash-by-koush-launching-recovery-on-your-device-without-a-pc/

be sure to read down through the above link, as there are some tips about getting your phone to boot correctly into recovery.....

took a bit of fandangling.... but got it up and running in the end... probably a total of an hour to get sorted???

Funny thing was, i didnt have a Micro SDHC card reader, so took a chance, and used the desire as a usb storage device!!!! it worked!!! :)

I was actually thinking of compiling a real dummies guide.... because i had a real hard time a few times following the steps above.... i would not recommend it at all for someone that actually has no idea about these things.... :)

So, if you guys want me to put a simpler guide together, with links to all the s/w you need.... let me know...!!!! because, i wont say i know my way around these things.... but my experience yesterday definitely made me see the simpler overall picture of how to do it safely....!!! and it truly is simple at the end of the day!! But the guys that usually write these how to's expect you to be rather knowledgeable...!!

Cheers

I got mine the other day :D Such an awesome phone.

Dissapointed at the battery, and I only sync Twitter. It also seems to get extremely hot when on charge or after a bit of constant use.

Other than that, EPIC. I love it.

Said it before, I'll say it again. The battery takes around a month to break in properly. Just keep draining it, and recharging it as much as you can.

Agreed, I've had my desire a week now and it is lasting longer every charge.

The battery lasted half a day for the first two days.

Monday / Tuesday it went from 8am to 5pm before it started warning me to charge.

Wednesday / Thursday it went from 8am to 8pm ish.

At the moment my Desire has gone from 8am today until now (9:30pm ish) and has 7 out of 10 bars on the battery, quite a significant improvement.

I have the HTC sense stuff like the weather gadget, friend stream for Facebook / Twitter and some news streams updating every few hours.

Also Skype is always signed in and Transdroid is checking my uTorrent every two hours and alerting me when a new download has started and finished downloading.

I'm having a problem with my Desire and it's SD Card. When backing up it comes up with an error and I can't seem to save any photos now either. What a pain.

Quick search on Google throws up a few threads, but no fix. Anyone else on here had the same problem? I will speak to T-mobile on Monday.

What error specifically?

And have you tried turning off your phone, taking out the battery, sim and SD card. Leaving for around 30 seconds, and booting back up?

I am on Three UK network. I got non branded unlocked Desire from carphone warehouse London. My problem is whenever I am not in HSDPA coverage area, phone drops to Orange's 2g backup network. But as I go back to strong HSDPA network area, the phone stays in 2g mode (takes more than 10 min to switch). Frustrating problem. Any solution to increase network refresh timings?

I just got my HTC Desire, Unlocked, and for free (Love having contacts)

I have never really been in the phone market before, as I never really used the phone much. But this was a big leap for me, and I love it!

So amazingly fast, and the app market is sweet. I hope my first impressions remain in the weeks to come.

I had the same problem and it seems to be the SD Card itself. When any other content, in my case music, is put on the card the backup fails. I solved it by getting an 8Gb Class 6 microSD Card.

I found that mine really struggled with my Class 2 16GB microSD card but seems much more responsive with an 8GB Class 6 one too.

I've decided to write an application for my phone which will monitor the battery, and at 15 minute intervals will send the current percent to my web server. I want to see if the battery really does become better over time.

    • I just want to know why the volume control feature in the browser version keeps appearing then disappearing, here today - gone tomorrow. Now it's gone again. Annoying as hell.

    • This article does not make sense and it’s very evident, the bug wasn’t confirmed to exist, because the application itself runs on editions of Windows which make it impossible to run Hyper-V VMs on, “Basically, Claude Desktop on Windows spins up a 1.8GB Hyper-V virtual machine if you use Claude Cowork or agent mode even once.”, suggests the bug is caused by something else otherwise it would only happen to users with the capability of running Hyper-V VMs and that’s only if Hyper-V was enabled which is by default not enabled. The true issue is that the author who reported the bug used the incorrect terminology, it’s actually a container, not a VM that is being started by the way. There were users on macOS reporting the same issue, Hyper-V, doesn’t exist on that platform obviously. Every single user who confirmed the problem in the last week was either using macOS making this issue impossible to be relevant to them, or was a comment talking about WSL, which the author indicated 3 months ago was disabled.
    • “To prevent hallucination issues and keep the database clean, the platform uses a multi-agent verification loop to check code quality.” - This absolutely isn’t happening. ”Before the massive rise of LLMs, which tanked its traffic by about 50% over the last couple of years, Stack Overflow was the go-to website for millions of programmers seeking coding solutions.” - It still is trusted, because the community of users, blocked other users from submitting false and misleading answers generated by AI agents that can be convinced something it generated is actually incorrect even if it’s actually correct. The company itself doesn’t know what it wants to be so it keeps trying and failing to introduce AI features to the platform. This effort will also fail, already submitted one successful poison pill, look forward to generating more.
