I loved this film. Much better then I expected, definitely a 10/10. I bet the parents of Chloe were cringing at some her language hehe but I thought her acting was brilliant.

Ps. Anyone know the tune when

in the warehouse, she blinds the thugs with the light attached to her gun and starts shooting them?

Same tune that is in 28 Weeks Later when dude leaves his wife in that house as he is running towards that boat.

Just saw it. 3.5/10

I thought after the 10-15 first min. that movie was produced by The Asylum http://www.imdb.com/company/co0043571/ :-)

The last 30 min (out of 112 min) get 7/10 for the action. The first 82 min 0/10.

There is no interesting plot. Boring dialog. No acting what-so-ever. Lame special effects.....

It is a see it forget it movie.

The one positive aspect of this movie is : Chloë Grace Moretz .

Kick-Ass was a good movie, but I am honestly absolutely amazed at all the people saying 9 or 10 out of 10, or "movie of the year!" It wasn't anything near that. There were many obvious flaws with the movie.

For one, the main actor, Aaron Johnson, is one of the worst leads I've ever seen in a major motion picture. His acting was pathetic. Chloe Moretz, on the other hand, really carried the movie with her performance. I also thought Nicolas Cage was far better than some of the other posters here are letting on -- he fit the movie perfectly. He was somewhat offbeat, as intended, and really gave you a "what the hell is he thinking?!" kind of vibe, which is how the character was written.

The first three-fourths of the movie seemed to drag on. It tried to give exposition for the movie, but it really didn't help grow attached to any of the characters (besides Hit Girl/Mindy). The action in the end almost made up for it, as it was amazingly well choreographed and shot. Similarly, the sets used for the movie were gorgeous, as was the actual photography -- the colors really popped out, giving it that comic book vibe (but not in a cheap cartoony kind of way).

Overall, it was a good movie, but it really needed more emphasis on the action -- especially since the humor was almost non-existent. The premise was funny, there were a few funny lines (mostly courtesy of Moretz) and some offbeat characters, but the comedy really didn't do much for the film, despite the trailers trying to sell it as a comedy movie with some action thrown in. If it had a better lead and some better pacing (it was very back-heavy in terms of entertainment), it could've been one of the best films of the year. But even still, it was a good flick. If anything, it was a great audition for the director, Matthew Vaughn, and I really can't wait to see what he does with X-Men.

3.5/5

I was laughing my ass off most of the movie, and when I wasn't I was watching awesome action scenes, I don't know how people could not love this movie.

Considering the vast majority of the films released so far this year have been utter **** IMO, this easy makes my favorite film of the year so far. It was hilarious and had some awesome action scenes. It was pure entertainment for me, every scene.

To each their own though :)

I said it was good, I just don't love it. I'm not really sure what was funny about the movie. The first 30 minutes had some funny parts, I gladly admit that (again, Chloe stole the show in those parts, too), but after that there really wasn't anything funny.

Oh, I definitely agree that most films this year have been crap. But I can think of plenty better (in no particular order) -- Inception, Splice, Toy Story 3, Iron Man 2, Get Him to the Greek, Despicable Me, The Ghost Writer, etc. At least those are the ones I would personally rate better off the top of my head from this year.

I agree with you Ayepecks Nicholas Cage & Chloe Moretz definitely carried it for lack of quality on the part of Aaron Johnson. But to be honest I thought that it was more of an intention to portray him more as a loser type that was in a world he didn't belong.

    • The GEEKOM A8 mini PC is 20% off (lower than Prime Day pricing) plus Huge Storewide Sale by Steven Parker GEEKOM is back with a deal on a variant of its A8 Mini PC powered by AMD's Ryzen 7 8945HS, which came out in 2024 with a TDP of just 45W, with a base clock of 3.8 GHz and a Turbo Boost of 4.9 GHz; although we never reviewed this variant, we did check out the Ryzen 9 version. As a reminder of what you get, below are the specifications for this Mini PC. GEEKOM A8 Dimensions 112.4 mm x 112.4 mm x 37 mm Weight 450g CPU Ryzen 7 8745HS (8 cores, 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, 3.8 - 4.9 GHz, TDP: 45 W) cTDP: 35-54W (Default 45W) Graphics AMD Radeon™ 780M Graphics 12 RDNA 3 Graphics Cores 2700MHz 768 shading units / stream processors (12 CUs), 48 texture mapping units, and 32 ROPs NPU XDNA architecture (Up to 16 NPU TOPS) Memory 16GB Dual-channel Crucial DDR5-5600MT/s SODIMM (up to 64GB) Storage 1TB NVMe M.2 (PCIe Gen 4.0 x4) Operating System Windows 11 Pro Bluetooth Bluetooth v5.2 Wireless LAN Wi-Fi 6E Kensington Lock No SD Card reader Yes (left side) Adapter 120W, 6.32A, 19V Power Adapter Front I/O Ports 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A 1 x 3.5mm front stereo headset jack Rear I/O Ports 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A 1 x USB 4 Gen 3 Type-C with Power delivery up to 15W (5V 3A) 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C 1 x USB 2.0 Type-A 2 x HDMI 2.0b 1 x 2.5G RJ45 LAN 1 x DC-in Deal Price $519 (buying links below) GEEKOM has two configurations of the A8, with the only difference being the slightly less-powerful Ryzen 7 CPU with half the storage (1TB) and DDR5 memory (16GB). This knocks $350 off the price compared to the $999 Ryzen 9 configuration. In both instances, a Windows 11 Pro license is also pre-loaded. As I said previously, this appears to be an update on the A7 with the only difference being the newer CPU. The packaging has changed quite a bit from the A7. Instead of dark colors, now the box is completely white, and the foam cushion has been replaced by a cardboard mould that the A8 sits in, above a small envelope that contains a thank you card and booklet that has guidance on all of the controls, how to access the A8 to swap out the SSD or memory, and safety information in several European languages. Upon removing the cardboard mould, you can find another cardboard compartment that contains the power lead, HDMI cable, VESA plate, and a bag of screws. What’s In The Box 1 x A8 Mini PC 1 x Power Adapter 1 x HDMI Cable 1 x VESA plate and bag of screws 1 x Envelope with booklet and Thank you card Unlike the A7, the VESA mount option is back with the A8.
