To reach a wider audience that isn't as well versed in the canon as you are - not that there IS any such a thing as comic book canon.

Look at all the versions of the Marvel Universe from the Ultimates on back, and the same thing in DC what with the Crisis, Post Crisis, Earth -Two and all. At one time Batman carried guns and Superman could'nt fly.

Movie "canon" even gets worked into the comic canon - example being Superman's Fortress of Solitude being a crystalline construct, and in the comics that same structure has moved from the mountains outside Metropolis to the Arctic, Antarctic, outer space, the Earth's core, the Andes and the Amazon rain forest.

Just enjoy each continuity for what it is and its quality.

Though full reviews won't be coming out until later this week (mine will hopefully be up before the weekend), early word on "X-Men: First Class" is that it may not only be the best in the franchise, but the best Marvel movie to date.

Cameo Scene Revealed!

Half way through X-Men: First Class, as Professor X and Magneto are travelling the world looking for mutants, they come across Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, in a bar. Before they can get a sentence out, Wolverine, without looking at them tells them to ?Go [frick] yourselves.? They leave.

The character?s appearance gets a laugh, his attitude and language gets a double laugh, repeating on itself, through the audience. It?s a superb scene, well played, well staged, well placed. And it?s the only moment such language is used in the entire film. We loved it.

The majority of the people that will see this will have no clue about the true history of the comics. While that will **** of those that do follow the comics, most will see this for what it truly is for, entertainment.

Thats a good thing. I read most of the comics when I was young (do not read comics anymore), but I do not want to see a carbon copy of the comics. I prefer to see the characters and a  new story. I do not know why people care about these things so much to the point of bringing a piece of paper and a pencil to write down every error from the comics. It is a modernized version of X-Men!

Throw the paper and pencil away, sit down, eat some popcorn, and enjoy a nice movie for what it is. It seems 90% of movies these days get horrible ratings, yet I like most of them because it is nice entertainment for a couple of hours.

The more i see of this movie the worse it starts looking, they have completely screwed up the timeline and the characters and stories, they arnt even following the comics anymore, they are just making it up as they go along and sticking the xmen name on it.

This movie is going to be horrible, but sadly it will do really well in the box office and the creators wont learn a damn thing or even know they screwed up which seems to be the pattern with most of these movies.

If you read the comics then you should know there are multiple Universes. Consider the movies a separate Universe as most of these movies only use the comic books as a reference. It wouldn't be fun if the original stories would be told in a movie if one already knows the story.

It's nowhere stated that these movies would be following the comic books either.

This is looking GOOD. Opens next week -

Excellent Question (Emma Frost/White Queen) -

Shaw Attacks (Sebastian Shaw/Black King) -

With Us or Against Us (Sebastian Shaw/Black King) -

Finding Shaw (Banshee) -

and that completes the full movie :p :D

Yeah, I don't get the constant whine of why certain comic movies don't follow the comics. What's the enjoyment in that when you know what's going to happen? If it's too predictable, then it's no longer fun.

Then it's also no longer a "comic" movie and just a Hollywood treatment of a comic they rewrote and decided for whatever reason couldn't fly (no pun intended) as a standalone movie itself.

But then again, some comics are sooooo convoluted and complicated that doing an origin story would be impossible without embellishing it for the masses. I mean, I'm still shocked Thor is doing so well still.

I am so looking forward to this movie, and my only disappointment with it so far is why the hell did they not release it this weekend. I mean I know the Hangover 2 comes out, but two different types of movies and this movie is going to do incredibly well over the long haul regardless. Perhaps releasing it this week may have not meant a blockbuster opening weekend, but it just would have been nice since I have a 4 day weekend. I am definitely going to see the Hangover 2 this weekend, but I would have went to go see this as well.

They would have competed with Kung Fu Panda 2 also. 3 huge movie openings in one weekend usually doesn't add up to major bucks for one of them :p

Meh, Kung Fu Panda 2. I guess that explains why I have been seeing so many commercials with that damn Panda. I really did not put 2 plus 2 together about it also opening this weekend.

I do get it, but at the same time I think KFP2 has a pretty distinct crowd of young kids, so really would not compete with at least The Hangover 2. But I do get it, Hollywood is all about their opening weekend numbers, no doubt about that.

Don't think she's not Asia but Black/Jewish - that's Zo? Kravitz, daughter of Cosby actress Lisa Bonet and musician Lenny Kravitz. She plays Angel Salvadore.

    • Anybody that thinks flying cars were possible are idiots. Everyone would basically need a pilot licence, can you imagine how insane and dangerous that would be, people can barely handle driving on land safely right now.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
