I loved TDU, and by the looks of things this is going to be much better than the first. I really can't wait to cruise and chill online, having the freedom to go wherever I want on the two (TWO!?) islands, while building up my garage of exotic cars. Only thing I am hoping for is more customization options on the cars, so I will be keeping an eye out for any mention of that.

I got the first one, don't play it anymore as my brother traded it in long time ago, only thong i would do with it was cruze around the island with him hanging out.

But i liked it, just didn't care for the hanging out in one spot over and over and over.

I'll be keeping my eye on this though

Somewhat yes but mostly no... The first one looked pretty and had a pretty damn big world. But the cars handled like a cow in a shopping cart...

^ haha yeah, especially after they did some update, the handling got even worse. I think tdu was a pretty underrated game though, the world was huge the graphics were damn good for the time, and there was a lot to do. while sometimes repetitive, i got a decent amount of playtime out of it.

I`m really looking forward to playing this.

I still play TDU 1, it`s one of those games that never gets old or boring for me.

TDU 1 was the very first game I bought for 360 back in `06.

Great memories.

Has anyone heard about a possible beta launching soon?

I heard it from another forum that I visit, but wasn`t sure if that info was legitimate.

Well I just found this

TDU2 will have a closed beta, not an open one. There is still no release date for it, but we shouldn't expect it before a couple of weeks.

His sources also claimed that forum members will be an important part in beta players selection. - from an admin on tdu2.fr

That and the guys on the "Sent you a message" video series on Xbox 360 said that they will be reviewing (or something) about TDU2 soon.

I don't know what it is about games like TDU and soon TDU2, but I just love cruising on them (not the pointless hanging around for hours some people do, that makes no sense...) But there is a fun feeling when you have 8 people, in various cars, flooring it around highways you've never seen before, getting lost, whatever.

I just hope for the sake of Eden Games that they don't rush anything or put too little effort into it, from what I have seen so far it looks promising, even though it is coming off a bit more "sims" like. They've held tight to the content though, really can't wait to find out more :D

Thanks Christian for answering my question about the TDU 2 beta. Much appreciated.

And it`s good to know there will or may be a closed beta soon.

Now I`m curious as to which region and platform it will be for.

Hopefully they will have a closed beta sign up or something.

And I totally agree with you about just cruising around with friends.

That was a big selling point for me. And TDU, for me, delivered on that premise perfectly.

Now that I`m thinking about it, I feel like cruising right now. :)

I beta tested the first one and it was very well made. Graphics were great, and overall game play was fun. This one looks like it will be great also

This is coming out for PS3? The poll confuses me...if it is I will snap it up on day 1.

Yes it's coming out on PS3, as well as Xbox 360 and PC. What's confusing about that?

Image of possible case design added (From their website)

-------------------

The case design seems interesting. As you can see, there is a couple on the front embracing each other... Kind of makes me wonder what that it going to mean for the game, aha :D

Applied for the beta :)

Likewise, Best of luck to you getting it! :D

-----

About the case cover picture from their website. I am still really confused as to what the two people embracing each other has to do with the game. I mean, I know that they are putting a lot more focus on having a better social experience, but does this suggest that they think gamers will have relationships over it or what? Frankly I think this might end up having more of a "life sim" feeling than I had initially thought.

Its probably more of a story plot in the game like Need For Speed does all the time. Maybe there is an actual story in the game now, focused on saving the girl or something.

Would be interesting to see an open game such as this contain a story I suppose, Hopefully it wont just be a "Drive from A to B, keep off the grass" situation as with those little challenges in the first TDU.

Oh and I was just looking to pre-order the game and noticed that North America will have 5 different "exclusive item" options available to them, while Europe so far only has one...

Anyway, here is a quick list of what you can choose when pre-ordering.

  • Bonus standalone game TDU2: CASINO ONLINE
  • Audi Q7 Coastline
  • Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black Special Edition
  • Aston Martin V12 Vantage Carbon Black Special Edition
  • Nissan 370Z (The only one available to EU buyers)

Now then... which one should I get? :D

What this video is effectively telling us about the game: (List credits to thatrip from the official TDU site)

  • Caravans in it (don't know what we can do with this but ok)
  • Find 10 wrecks you obtain a free car.
  • Radio in car is more advanced then in TDU1 and TV in your house work. TV and radio broadcast even weather forecasts.
  • Roughly same amount of cars as TDU1.
  • Customization cars.
  • Getting a Yacht at higher level. Explore even more in TDU2 with this yacht
  • Minor damage on cars
  • Missions on both islands
  • Can walk around outside your car. Talk to other persons, even challenge other clubs

  • 600 Challenges, TDU1 had only 300 Challenges
  • Access Ibiza Airport at Level 10
  • in the paintshop, you can do duel tune painting, adding stickers
  • cops are in the new TDU2, and improved
  • improved car handling (build from scratch, cars are better balanced out)
  • offroad not confined to the road
  • 1/3 of tracks are offroad, 2/3 are road
  • Some of the challenges are like a TV show, where you have to go back and forth between both the islands / or the racing is based around a TV Show. (need more info about it)
  • Release date is confirmed: NA September 21st 2010, EU and the rest of the world September 24th 2010
  • There will be some similar challenges as from TDU1 (like the island tour)
  • Rain will also effect the cars handling

Just had a look around the web and I can't find any information about that (Other than people asking a similar question to yourself) Sorry! :(

First time I have ever heard of such thing, I've just been checking out the example videos on their website and it looks amazing.
