Here's my osx style, using a surprisingly good aqua desktop x theme. I cant find an Aqua webblinds theme anywhere so could someone point me in the right direction? ~~Neyo~~?

And i've just found out that the damn Objectbar trial doesn't let you install your own themes. And i've got about 5 now, Damn you stardock...

Yeah thats a desktop x dock, i've posted the link on the january destkop thread. Sheer has posted his REAL Mac OS X desktop there. It's pushing me further towards buying a new iMac...

The download on the dock is there. What makes you think i edited shell32.dll?

I also have to confess to not liking the Aquadock program at all

Cool... i guess i was Hoping u was Gonna Say... NO i Downloaded a Real Awesome Dock App... here's a link! LOL ...Damn

I thought u may have edited Shell32.dll ... Cus the drive icons on the Desktop... after all, they aint' Shortcuts... ...or did u ditch the Shortcut icon!?

oh! One More thing...

Dude... i see on tha Taskbar... U have a HTml page running..

Well.. u see the icon, used 2 show an open IE Window is that Lame Ass Blue and White icon thing....

u shud edit ... that really annoyed me... Luckily... i found the dll and edited...

If ya wanna... its MSHTML.dll (obv System32!)

As For AquaDock!? ..Why Do u hate it So Much? ... i did @ 1st... esp wen most App's Icons look Awful... but as u can see... u can do some tidying up with them... and it dont look so bad... All u gotta do is edit the window icon, for that app... in most case's is easy... unless its a Windows App like IE, OE, Media Playa... etc! ... then u have 2 get tha DAMN Dll... Lol!

but i like the dock now... and i actually use it, as a task switcher... its not just eye candy! ... i wish it could have some animation whereby wen an app would usually flash, in the taskbar.. the icon bobs up and down or something... Cus Messenger is a pain wen u dont have Sound, and u ditched the taskbar! ... :p

Holla Back...

John Folden (pretty well known OS skin author) just updated his H20 skin (Graphite Aqua skin).

Here's what it looks like.

The Apple lawyers just to do the rounds on the websites looking for this stuff. They once threatened to sue just for a SCREENSHOT showing a Mac skin. It's amazing how far things have come since then.

frogboy - that's a very impressive Aqua-style skin you guys have over there. doesn't have the common 'huge-assed ugly title bar' that i've seen quite often on the .msstyles Aqua-based themes. the buttons look pretty smooth, and except for the font usage (ugh), would look perfect in its default settings.

maybe it's time for me to give WB 3.0 a shot again..hold on, lemme set up a system restore point now ;)

I can't take credit, John Folden was actually one of the guys who helped create the popular shareware program NeXTStart (www.winstep.net). He's a great skinner. Most of the best OS skins were done by him.

I find ObjectBar still a bit buggy for constant use. The new verson implements those smart menus thingies (where programs you havent' used in awhile don't show up by default) which is what kept me from using it in the past - I need that feature, I've got like 200 programs installed so I really need it to not show all 200 when I choose "All programs". That feature seems broken on XP for some reason but I could just be doing something wrong. But I digress.

Neoguigui....

That Looks Pretty Sweet..! ...BUT...(Damn i hate these BUTS! lol)

Can i assume, thats the Desktop X Finder, and the Popup Dock Menu!?

i have that theme too... But i simply Cannot stick the 1024*768 re limit ... There's NO Space...

...And... The Finder Is Pretty Useless too! :( ... i know WinMac is By no Means as Cool as Object Bar, in terms of functionality! ... but u can get used 2 it!

... i love the theme though... and before i began 2 hate 1024*768 .. it was Sweet!

Nonetheless, it looks pretty damn Cool!!!

...Guys... WE HAVE 2 Keep this Thread Going... it's Becoming the Heart and Soul, of Neowin! LOL! ...Well OK, Not Quite... But hey... it was my "big Speech" part! lol!

    • Bluesky COO warns social media regulations could destroy competition from small startups by Paul Hill Fears that increasing government control of social media risks regulatory capture by the biggest social media firms were raised again recently. Bluesky’s chief operating officer said in an interview that social media bans for children and tighter regulations for social media firms risk creating a world where there are only a few social media platforms run by companies with the deepest pockets. Regulations on social media firms have been very lax since they appeared for mainstream users in the 2000’s. This gave Meta, Snapchat, and Google time to build up their user bases and get entrenched, with Meta being the most successful. Now that Meta has succeeded, it has been attempting regulatory capture. By pushing for more regulations of social media, Meta hopes to make it more difficult for rivals to challenge it. For its part, it doesn’t need to worry about the cost of regulation because it has a lot of money to spend, whereas startups do not. Speaking to CNBC, Rose Wang, Bluesky’s chief operating officer, said: “I support the protection and the safety of youth, the question that we have then is at what cost, because essentially what I’m scared of is in the long term, we’re headed to a world where there’s about three to five platforms, and extreme heavy regulation of those platforms, and basically the whole compliance teams of these platforms are 10 times the size of our entire team. So, basically, we’re living in a world where it’s almost impossible for smaller entrants to come in and build healthier spaces. These platforms have led to a place where the bottom line is the thing that drives what they do... so I understand why governments have to step in and regulate, because the platforms have done nothing right.” She said that while she is not against regulation, there needs to be more channels between the small to mid-sized players and regulators to help protect them. She says that big tech players, on the other hand, “who we know are circumventing regulation,” need to be regulated. Essentially, the Bluesky position is one of nuance, rather than absolutes. While Bluesky’s proposal may preserve competition in the social media space, it still doesn’t address the massive privacy implications these age verification measures introduce, such as handing over sensitive identity documents to access age-gated content.
