I have a couple questions about DesktopX and aquadock. Here it goes:

1) When I save my work that Ive done with DesktopX (arranged icons and desktop Etc) for some reason It doesnt keep the backround that I choosen and reverts to the default one..What gives?

2) How do I get desktopX to start up whenever my computer starts up?

3) When I give Icon on my desktop (not on the aquadock) a subtitle such as my computer, it has a white rectangular box around it which makes it look ugly when put against a different color backround other than white. How can I blend the text into the backround without that white box?

4) Whenever I remove Icons from the aquadock (the one at urbanslurp, thats where I got mine from) it has a large gap in it which where the icon once was. How can I get the aquadock to resize itself to fit all the apps evenly spaced

Apparently it's a fully working dock made in flash...

that can't be XP...

XP doesn't support the Transparent TitleBars on Windows...

besides.. it HAS to be a photoshoped image..

some of the text has a Mac ClearText on it.. and Some has an XP cleartext...

(XP uses Red and Blue pixel distortion. and Mac uses a grey scale distortion)

Is it XP or finally is it OSX??? Or is it OSX with some photoshop additions (NT 5.1 build 2600) so that we think it's finally XP???

Well, I don't care... All these screenshots are really fabulous, but let's find a way, how we can make our "wannabe OSX" desktops to look like more OSX, shall we?... :)

Well, its not my desktop. I saw it on the january thread. Some guy posted it, I was a bit dubious for the reasons Ja450n mentioned. I got an email from him though:

The theme is real, however, you gotta remember, it's

not intended to be a theme. It is intended to be a

shell replacement. If you remember the FLash Desktop

Project, they were also developing a desktop in Flash

as well.

The About This Mac, of course is from Aqua-soft.,

however as for using windows blinds, I honestly don't

have it installed nor do I use it. Too much of a

resource hog.

Whether or not we can get this to be a true shell

replacement, remains to be seen. If you have had any

experience with shell replacement technology, you know

it can be taxing and very buggy and sometimes just

plain frustrating.

So we will either release it as one of three things.

1) Just a theme that will be compatible with Styles

XP, however, that is not what we are going for,

because OSX themes are a dime a dozen out on the net.

2) An app that opens up and takes over your desktop,

which will incorporate XML and Flash.

3) A complete Shell replacement for Explorer, that

will be stable and bugfree.

The windows you seen in the background are terminal

windows we are experimenting with a home brew version

of a system monitoring software to emulate like in

OSX.

The window you see next to the dock, is really a

webpage using jpgs as icons.

the border in IE is really a dummy border, so you see

what appears to be tabs, but really is just text.

Haven't gotten to the point if we can actually make

the functional.

Everything else is standard, with the exception of the

transparent title bars, which I cannot convey at this

point in how we achieved that.

And lastly the Itunes Skin is the test skin for Winamp

3. However between the skin being brand new and

Winamp being very unstable, it is not practical for

real-time using.

I hope this answers your questions, and I know I will

get flamed on the board, but I really do not care what

they think, I will let the product speak for itself.

Remember you can't make everyone happy, so just make

yourself happy first.

A quick list of some of the apps and languages used

Flash 5

C++

VB+

Codewarrior

ASP

Microlangelo

Dreamweaver Ultradev

Access

Make of that what you want. I'm still a bit sceptical. You can check it out on the january thread here to see for yourself.

XP does support transparent title bars. Just run Glass2k and see for yourself.

    • I think this will appeal to a lot of enthusiasts. If the thermals are similar to those of a single system in a compact case, many people running multiple systems may choose to combine them into one machine, provided the case footprint remains reasonable.
    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
