  1. 1. Are you getting the new Xbox 360

My PSU doesn't make any noise either. My Xbox 360 S does have some heat coming out of it though, that is for sure. Looks like they finally got the heat OUT of the Xbox this time, instead of milling around inside melting the solder.

Yeah, the fan is now placed directly over the heat source so it's being vented faster, although that creates hotter exhaust it's still an improvement over the old models where

the heat would circulate within and had to be lead out by a bit of plastic which wasn't very optimal.

Sorry for the double-post.

I was told you could pick up these updated controllers separately, anyone knows if there's a wired version?

Honestly, I haven't seen any of the updated hardware (besides the console itself, obviously) out in the wild.

A guy on a Danish forum who works at Gamestop said they received a shipment of the updated controllers along with the Slims, although only the Wireless version.

So I was hoping for a wired version as well :D

Love it so far. Only thing I noticed is rather than being a fingerprint magnet it is a scratch magnet. Pulled it out of the box for a transfer and I already noticed some micro-scratches on it. Not a big deal, but if anyone else cares its good info for them.

Thing is quite as all heck. I can once again hear my PC over everything else in my room (and it is the farthest from me). I feel like I'm using an elavator/microwave every time I open and close the disc tray, though :p. Either way, I'm extremely happy I got it. I was skeptical about the new design but honestly I think it was for the better. And the new HDD, damn I love how small it is! Only thing left is to see if getting it now was worth it over the inevitable Kinect bundle.

[Edit] - One thing that does irritate me, however, is the lack of an ability to plug in both the AV and HDMI cables at the same time. I want to run my 360 to my screen through HDMI while using my PC speakers but I can't do that without both plugs. The PS3 allows multiple outputs and that makes it possible for it, but not the 360... Not too big a deal but it really doesn't look as good through VGA as it would with HDMI.

Didn't they put the optical sound connection out on it's own? I know you can't use that with your PC speakers but maybe there's some way to work it out.

There is probably an adapter, but it honestly shouldn't be that complicated. Not too big a concern since if I did get that to work I'd have to constantly swap out HDMI cables anyway.

Gotta blame HDMI and it's copy-protection for blocking other outputs. *sigh*

Isn't that what these are for?

Can I plug in an HDMI with that? Cause to me it looks about as wide as the normal plug. Even the newer slim one has a tab on it to keep you from doing it (although I could probably remove it fairly easily).

It's much slimmer than the normal box, so you can. Not to mention you can also pry open the plastic shell on the other cables and make them fit with HDMI

Doesn't work. At least not splitting the old one. Since the two ports are now much closer that even without the casing the fat part of the plug interferes. I could try it with the new A/V cable but I doubt I would want to screw that up in case I need to return it.

Actually, it does - I just tried it. Just don't start by plugging in the HDMI cable.

They are just as close as the old 360.

    • New PowerToys update fixes memory leaks and other issues by Taras Buria Another bug-fixing update is available for PowerToys version 0.100. After releasing version 0.100.1 with a bunch of bug fixes and patches, Microsoft pushed version 0.100.2 to address two important issues with one of Command Palette Dock's features. With PowerToys 0.100.2, Microsoft fixed the performance meter displaying incorrect values and memory leaks, which are particularly unwanted things in the current situation with overpriced PC hardware. Here is the changelog: Reverted a Performance Monitor dock refresh change that forced item refreshes on every metric update Fixed a memory leak in the Performance Monitor dock extension by reusing stable network upload/download band items instead of creating new list items on each refresh For those unfamiliar, Command Palette Dock is a relatively new addition to PowerToys. It is a taskbar-like tool that you can keep on top of the screen to pin various useful widgets, commands, and more. It can display time, weather, your PC's performance metrics, and more. Microsoft introduced the Command Palette Dock in March 2026 in PowerToys 0.98. Microsoft has dedicated documentation for Command Palette Dock, and you can check it out on the official Microsoft Learn website. You can update PowerToys to the latest version by going to Settings > General and clicking "Check for updates." Alternatively, you can download the installer from GitHub using this link. In other news, Microsoft is working on a new window-management utility for PowerToys. Called Alt Window Cycle, it will let you use the Alt + ` shortcut to switch between different windows in a single app. You can learn more about the tool here.
    • You did take leaf out of Trumps book already and had brexit - only to harm yourself. The same goes with this AI nonsense. The obvious solution for these companies is to move their head office to Brussels. I can see quite much irony there... 🙂
    • Thank gawd AT&T never worked with the US gov....
    • Wonder if they are trying to slow down Linux traction (not saying this is the only factor) in the consumer space. With the most pressure probably being steam deck/box, etc.
