Yup, got mine today as well - It's so good. Extremely quiet and feels like a proper quality product, even more so than my old PS3 Fat. The controller has also improved with firmer buttons, better thumbsticks that seem a tad more accurate oh and

they've been coated with a sort of powder that adds a bit of grip. It's really well thought out and just made the best controller even better (Y)

Looks TIGHT. Best console out there IMO, it's solid and freaking quiet.

I still think I prefer the matte black 360.

If it were jet black it would **** all over the new one, I hate the "dark grey" inbetween.

Gloss white could be quite nice, but gloss black is just such a hassle with cleaning.

What?

I know you don't like it and looking at your comments, you seem to find every flaw possible with it :)

Also, for your information, it is jet black and there's no grey tint. The grey comes from the flash on my camera that lights up the black. It's all

black with the naked eye and having it next to my PS3 fat which I thought was black, the PS3 just looks like a dull, flat black all of a sudden.

So I'm guessing you'll be buying one now.

The elite was always a slightly lighter shade of black

When talking to ynnoj I was referring to the elite and saying if it were jet black I'd prefer it over the gloss jet black of the new 360.

Why would a Jet Black old Xbox 360 elite **** all over a new Xbox 360 S? You prefer a console that is louder, RROD prone, bigger, with bigger power brick, with no wifi, less hard drive space, less USB ports, no dedicated port for accessories for the same price?

I'm talking about the design.... everything else is much better.

I mis-read the earlier post as "you'd be all over it, if it was jet black." No idea why I'd even think that as you wouldn't, ever.

Just annoying you're only here slating the 360, slating the Kinect 24/7 - Stop it, I think we've reached a point considering our past history and now with our new chances

we'd be past that and could actually refrain from it.

Now, for a more nuanced conversation.

I was told by someone, that one of those guys taking 360s apart and doing whatever they do, discovered the hardware components in the Slimline might actually be more powerful than the

standard components, besides the smaller die size and all. Dashboard and some games should run a bit smoother overall they say.

Can anyone confirm / debunk this?

I can't confirm with my 360 S experience. I use the guide instead of the dashboard, and I have only been playing Alan Wake and BC2 since I got it, and both of those are installed. I didn't really pay attention to any performance improvements.

I only fired up Red Dead Redemption real quick and went through the intro sequence plus the first mission - The game usually has a few frame-rate dips but the experience this time was

extremely smooth. Though, I can't tell anything from it as I can't truly remember how smooth the intro was, how often the frame rate dipped back when I was playing etc. So I'd have to do a lot more

testing.

Right on. Granted, it could be running faster (cooler) and have some better hardware. Then again, it could be because the cache is empty cuz it's new, and because the hardware is just new in general, and could slow with time. I am hoping for the former :)

There is a small part on speed in The xbox 360 S review on Engadget

the only thing showing improvment in the optical disc according to them.

I'm thinking it was a placebo effect just because it's new, the Engadget reviews also confirms that.

Also, "the Stealthbox consistently loaded DVDs and game levels two seconds faster" Stealthbox  I'm so using that moniker from here on out.

Glad someone else noticed the subtle changes to the controller (actually, more glad that I'm not losing my mind) (Y)

I don't think it's more powerful, I just think the engineering changes have made it more efficient, but I do believe the dashboard is slightly more snappy, yes.

The dashboard on the 360s while looking the same as the one on older units might be a newer version? Has anyone compared the version numbers between the two yet?

    • SpaceX reportedly plans a Starlink mobile service for U.S. consumers by Karthik Mudaliar SpaceX reportedly wants to sell mobile phone plans directly to consumers in the United States as part of a wider expansion of Starlink. According to a report from the Financial Times, SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell discussed the plan with investors during the company’s recent IPO roadshow. The company is also said to be considering building a terrestrial mobile network to complement Starlink’s satellite coverage. The plan is quite different from how Starlink currently operates in the U.S. mobile market. SpaceX already provides satellite connectivity for T-Mobile’s T-Satellite service, but T-Mobile remains responsible for the subscription, billing, and customer support. A Starlink-branded mobile service would give SpaceX control of the customer relationship instead. It could also turn the company from a partner of traditional mobile operators into a direct competitor. T-Mobile also began testing its Starlink-powered satellite service in early 2025. The beta was initially limited to text messaging and was also available to some AT&T and Verizon customers. The service has since expanded to support limited data access through selected apps, including WhatsApp, Google Maps, AccuWeather, and AllTrails. It is designed to provide a connection in areas where normal cell towers are unavailable, rather than replace a conventional mobile network. However, if SpaceX actually has a plan to serve nationwide, it needs to do more than just satellite networks and actually support on-ground operations. It can also partner up with existing carriers and become a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). With that said, SpaceX has already spent heavily to support its mobile ambitions. Just last year, the company agreed to acquire wireless spectrum licences from EchoStar in deals worth a combined $19.6 billion. EchoStar's spectrum includes AWS-4, H-Block, and AWS-3 frequencies that could be used for both satellite and terrestrial communications. According to a SpaceX securities filing, the Federal Communications Commission approved the transaction in May 2026, although it is not expected to close until late 2027. There's no official statement by SpaceX for now. Pricing, availability, and other details remain unknown. Source: Financial Times
