Should be (Y)

It's all the small touches in games I love, really add a feeling of being immersed. It's overlooked in so many games, Read Dead Redemption was the last game I played I felt it was done well.

It's like yeah a bump mapped hub cap is completely over the top, but in 18MP photomode I'm going to spend a decent bit of time just taking pictures of engine shots and other random crap for my own pleasure.

All the videos of GT5 from Gamescom are embarrassing though, people just think you can hold the throttle down and drive laugh.gifSo many spin outs and epic failing. All the videos of the Zonda from above basically consist of noobs spinning out on every corner.

Yeah that makes me mad every time i see those videos, no throttle control and people who intentionally crash into walls to see if they can damage the beautiful cars. In other news Siena's cityhall is asking Sony to remove the karting track PIAZZA DEL CAMPO from the game, and is threatening to start legal actions.

They claim that a kart race on the famous piazza where the PALIO DI SIENA is held is disrespectful, also another problem is that in the demo, the flags of the Siena's Contradas (the teams that race) are shown without previous approval.

looks like the game has had a setback and we might not get this kart track

GTP

Are you sure the BMW isn't a real shot? Seriously, the fenders look too smooth...if it is real, this is all essentially because of the amazing lighting system the PD guys and gals have created. When you zoom in on the Ford you can clearly tell it's a game but zoom out and my god it looks so real. Still analyzing the BMW.

I'm sure it's the game as i have the link to more 18 MP photos.

I can understand the flags, but a public locale...copyrighted? I don't think this will be an issue but here's hoping PD simply changes the flags out.

that's the same thing most of us at GTP was thinking, that's just like saying you can't put the Lincoln Memorial in a racing game.

That place should STFU, before that GT5 karting video no one had heard of it, publicity > these weak sauce complaints.

I know man they are getting free publicity in the game and they're complaining over some damn flags in a clean racing game, it's not like its in a gory shooting game and remember this is the exact location that they filmed part of the opening to The Quantum Of Solace.

That place should STFU, before that GT5 karting video no one had heard of it, publicity > these weak sauce complaints.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I mean, GT5 is essentially the pinnacle of racing games and they are complaining about this?

EDIT: just realized I've been on Neowin for over 5 years, woot!

congrats.

Formula 1 damage in the rain! Whole wheel comes off :D Something so simple to get giddie about, but hey, we went from GT1 to GT4 without damage :p

edit: Wait, wrong game :p Epic fail @ me.

GT5 has the best presentation i have ever seen in any game this year.

Yeah the whole thing has a touch of class to it, but everything PD does has that from trailers to audio used to in-game menus, etc, etc.

I still absolutely love this trailer

Anyone know if we are getting full support for purchase of individual engine parts and upgrades, such as spark plugs, cams, pistons, etc?

Not sure yet

Should be getting somewhat of a taste of how the sounds are in the newest public build

Hey guys, alba and Denur here live from Gamescom. We have captured lots of videos and sounds at the GT5 booth all day today and with some editing it could give us a clearer picture about the whole sound business within GT5.

Unfortunately, in this demo there was no way to turn down the music so all the recordings we got has music in it but Im going to try to edit it out the best I can.

We have pretty much all the cars left out from footage on the net already... Like the Castrol Supra and the M5 and we even have karts sounds so yeah hopefully things turns out alright.

alba out, Denur in:

I would like to apologize beforehand for my louzy driving. Hate driving without sound.

But got drive a lap with headphones (GTR) and I was pleased, the deep rumble is there.

We saw a nice thing with the AI when a kid was driving. He was doing a Shummy (park the car in a wall so no one can pass) and one of the AI cars eventually decided to back up, to make room to pass the car. Very nice.

Photo mode was in this build too, but without a controller, we couldn?t do much. Got some footage though.

So hello from alba and Denur live from Gamescom and we will try to get you the content from the show as soon as possible. Cheers!

Should probably be up tomorrow as I edit them and put them up on the GTPlanet youtube account. Until then, have a nice day!

Killa, may I ask what skin you are using for OSX, and how you applied it? w00t.gif

there is a lot of steps involved if you don't know the basics.

PD has 49 days to go GOLD (RTM)

I've got my fingers crossed that we really will see this finally in November. It's looking more and more polished with each video I watch. November can not come soon enough.

it's not going to get delayed again with all the media PD are releasing.

    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
    • Everything they say you can already do yourself on the registry by changing some things.
    • Artist's renderings are so much nicer to view than the real thing, don't you think?
