Holy crap, you get a lot for winning the first advanced race in the karting special event! I just won it (which is just a 5-lap race around a 45-second-or-so track) and got 119,000CR! :D

EDIT: Oh, and 5000+ XP as well. I struggled doing the Supercar Nostalgia races in the Amateur Series, and I only got 900XP for winning each race. :p

Thanks for the replies on my questions. The one thing I was having an issue with is one of the events called for, I believe it was a Japanese car made before 1979, and for the life of me I could not find one anywhere. Am I just missing it?

So far that is my one and only gripe with the game, would have been really great if for each event like this that you need a specific car, if they just showed a list of eligible cars you could afford right away, and not have to go through all of the dealers trying to figure out what is what.

There's only one Bugatti Veyron in the game. :pinch:

now that realy does dissapoint, i didnt expect that at all. :(

dont worry tho iam sure there will be a "preimum" version via DLC.

what would be nice is if they add the entire F1 cricut's as in a cheep DLC package.

Which races are you doing? I'm at level 16, and I haven't seen a single bit of damage yet.

really? i'm at 16 too and haven't seen anything...

but just for fun, imm go with TDQuicksilver's explanation

Yup. I got it racing a Camaro in the campaign portion (Muscle Cars series). I hit a concrete barrier head on, and the front driver side fender near the headlight was deformed for the remainder of the race. I watched the replay right after, and sure enough it was there. I saved said replay, and I went back to take pictures, and the damage was no longer in the replay.

I decided to switch over to Arcade mode, Single race, Advanced and I took Jeff Gordon's NASCAR out for the 2 lap race. Instead of finishing the race, I spent the next 15 minutes trying to damage it. You have to hit barriers at like 150-200mph at least 7 or 8 times to begin to see any deformation. I finally got the hood to pop up and deform the front bumper. Then I worked on going in reverse to damage the back end. That took awhile too, when it finally made the trunk pop up, and the spoiler deform a little crooked, and each corner of the bumper was dented in. You really have to work at it VERY hard to get it to damage. It finally was smoking and the engine was no longer letting me run the car at full speed. Not realistic at all, but it's better than nothing. Maybe it will damage faster later?

yeah i was wondering that last night too when i was trying, i couldn't find a way to do it.

I totally hate that we can't RWD/FWD :(

There be no rewind feature or automatic braking in GT5!

Would have been nice if they added it as an option.

You know what I find funny in Photomode? If you are in a standard car, you only zoom in only so much to the car, or the camera will tell you to go back furthur lol. Oh.. PD.. you should've just remodeled those cars.

You also can't take photos of standard cars in the Photo tours :(

I've found the best way to quickly earn money and level up (if that's what you want to do) is run the special events. You get a LOT more XP and cash for those, than starting in the A spec beginner championships.

Once you finish Beginner and Amateur series, you get more winnings. Now I am getting nearly 20,000 for a win.

No, they are there. I used the Bellet. However, I had a friend gift it to me because he saw it in the used car lot before I did. I just gifted it back to him when I was done.

I got damage at level 0  Yeah, I'm a shocking driver but I'm getting better and also sometimes you can't avoid a crash no matter how hard you try

Last moan, I promise. Just wanted to show what the model is like for the Veyron...

Oh, one more thing.. it understeers like a greased up pig. Thatisall.

I know how you feel, I wish the same thing! the rear wing isn't even animated like it is in GTPSP! so in actual fact the GT5 car is less detailed then the GTPSP version! appalling.

I've found it is quite fun to have a free run on the Nurburgring at night on-line, people just join in and leave when they want and you can just enjoy some night driving with some randomers, or even try for some mini racers around.

Im looking forward to that feature, chilin out just raecig online with no "must come 1st" attatude.

is there any karting sessions like this?

On the plus side, the rear wing does pop up at about 140mph, and tilts in its 'air-brake' action when you slam on the brakes ;)

It does animate!

No it doesn't :/ I have the Veyron and took it out for a spin and the rear wing did not move at all! but it was the GTPSP important version though....maybe that is why?

unless there is some kind of glitch caused by the psp data which breaks the model animation for the car, the car should otherwise be the exact same car you would have normally gotten by normal means in GT5....

So the game not explaining anything about damage is supposed to be a good thing?

Does every game need to spoon feed?

Journalists knew damage was in GT5 since E3 2009, instead of writing hasty reviews they should have taken more time with the game and/or contacted PD.

I'm indifferent to whether or not the approach is a good thing, it's just hilarious seeing reviewers caught with their pants down as they're the ones we idolise as decision makers on what games we purchase.

i feel the same way. it a way in terms of the game it makes sense but in the another way it's a bummer.

i wonder if theres gonna be any such thing as DLC for GT5? like new tracks, new events, more cars... especially premium cars....

since theyre geting into this whole reusing-the-material-from-the-previous-generation thing, they might as well start work on collecting data that's fit for the PS4, while scaling it down for the PS3... so when the next playstation comes around, there wont be so much of a delay, and everything will look truly next-gen... which is the opposite case from right now where there was a huge delay and plenty of last-gen looking things in GT5...

Well the one I have definitely 100% does animate. I played around with it for quite a while :)

Think it raises at 140mph. Then you get the tilt under braking from high speed too.

I got none of it, it didn't move an inch and it was doing 300+ km/hr on the straight at Le Mans (with no chicanes) and the airbrake didn't raise either when breaking at the end of the straight, was completely static. Not to mention the car itself looks even more rubbish then the pictures we have seen of it....I guess it's possible they gimped the PSP import version? I haven't had the chance (or credits) to try purchasing it in GT Life and seeing if there is a difference.

    • Google's NotebookLM gets some useful features you may have been waiting for by Aditya Tiwari It's been three years since Google introduced its AI-powered note-taking and research app, NotebookLM. Just when Apple is about to kick off WWDC 2026, the search giant has announced a platter of new NotebookLM features that add agentic capabilities in chat and more advanced reasoning. For starters, NotebookLM now draws its fuel from Gemini 3.5 and Antigravity to improve accuracy and reliability. One of the things people have been asking for a long time is more transparency into the thinking steps. NotebookLM now shows expanded thinking steps in chat, providing better visibility into the thinking process. Google compared the upgraded NotebookLM with prior versions and found that it "achieved an average win rate of over 65% — a 15% point margin above parity — across our top five core evaluation dimensions," including accuracy & quality, multilingual support, large document analysis, document creation, and advanced research. It showed substantial improvements in analyzing large documents, achieving a 69.9% win rate. The system also delivered "exceptional performance" in advanced web research and source discovery with a 78.2% win rate. The AI research tool now generates outputs in more formats. You can give instructions to guide the outputs and download the generated files from the studio panel. Here are the newly supported formats: PNG and SVG for data visualizations and charts PDFs, docx, markdown, and text files for documents PNG, JPG, and GIF for images JSON and CSV for structured data XLSX for Microsoft Excel PPTX for Microsoft PowerPoint You can make edits after the outputs are generated. The feature is available globally; therefore, you can provide directions in one language and create outputs in another. Google said that it's also making it easier to get started with a project in NotebookLM. Instead of having a list of sources beforehand, you can even start with loose ideas, and NotebookLM can help build the repository of sources through the chat. For instance, you can find primary sources in other languages to get new perspectives or explore related works of an author. All of these new features are rolling out globally for those who can loosen up their pockets. They are available to users with Google AI Ultra and all Workspace business customers with AI Ultra access. Google has plans to expand them to more users in the future.
    • "...will no longer be bundled with the monthly Windows security updates or Patch Tuesdays. Instead the company is shifting delivery of these updates to Microsoft Update...". Three names that all refer to Windows Update. Does the author even understand what he is writing about?
    • and somehow windows is the only one with issue every patch tuesday is a mess, android macosx have all that and it never had issues locking people out of their own data.
