Kinect priced at $150 on Microsoft's own store

That still doesn't make it official. The MS store is taking preorders just like the rest of them, and they can't post up a lower price compared to what everyone else has until MS gives the "official" price annoyncment. They'e just following what gamestop and co have up so as not to rock the boat till the time comes.

Oh dear. *prepares for a full showing of the MSDF* :p

I'll quote someone over on GAF: "This thing has officially been sent out to die." A sega CD for the 00's. :p

And how much does the move cost once you want to play with 4 friends which this type of casual thing is aimed at? Dont you need 2 controllers each for most games? $150 is a sweet nothing for anyone on a decent wage or the type of people looking to play this with there family once they realise there will never be any on going costs besides games.

Don't drag Move in to this, once you do that this thread gets derailed quicker than a bullet train trying to do a 90 degree turn. Lets keep this about Kinect for the moment mkay?

$150 is a sweet nothing? If it wasn't 15 titles of shovelware, no core games (or support) and 1

amazing

just dance clone from Harmonix.

Who dares to insult the Mega-CD?! :shiftyninja: That certainly had its merits over something like Kinect.

Ahahaha, beautiful! You earned yourself a bit of rep for that, young man.

Never met another person in the world who knew of that game. :D

Really? My friend had it some time ago with Cobra Command, Sewer Shark and that QTE one in the car. I was truly a Sega fanboy back in the day. Well at least until I got my SNES! :p

I still can't believe some people don't understand MS will leak prices themselves to judge on the reaction of the price.

They've already said they won't announce the price until later this year. This isn't an announcement!

Sounds like ******** to me DM. Any evidence of them doing it before? Why would you 'leak' a price on your store? I can't imagine the casual crowd lining up to pre order it. Hell the Wii queues were dead at release. There were apparently only 6 people outside at release date but that weekend. Boom, store was emptied.

Edit: "6 feet (1.8 meters) between you and your television for play space" - Coffee tables are so last generation.

Do I have concrete proof it's what MS are doing? No because I don't work for them, but it's not some unheard tactic I am talking about either.

I suppose if it really sounds like an alien idea to you it just confirms you should never go into this type of business ;)

Also Wii queues were dead? Ha, you really do talk some utter **** sometimes. PS3 queues were dead in the UK, but definitely not the Wii. In fact, it was common for Wii queues to be formed outside shops every morning for well over 2 years in some parts of the states/Europe.

Edit: "6 feet (1.8 meters) between you and your television for play space" - Coffee tables are so last generation.

I was actually thinking about this last night, if I even wanted to check Kinect out it would be a big pain in the arse. With my Wii I just push my coffee table up like a foot, so it leaves enough room if I need to stand, but I usually do sit when playing the Wii. In order to play Kinect, if I wanted to play it on a steady basis, my living room would literally need a complete redesign. My wife is not for having the coffee table pushed in the corner or something.

And just to chime in, Wii lines (or queues as you crazy foreigners call them ), were indeed crazy here in the states. The first time I got my Wii I had to go to Walmart at 5 am in the morning and sit there for 2 hours, and I was 8th in line. By the time they opened the doors the line was over 20 people, and they only had something like 14 of them. This was a few months in actually. And it lasted a long time, that is why like 5 months I was able to sell my used Wii at the same price of a used one, including all of the peripherals I had purchased, and I sold them for no loss in money at all. I met some guy off Craigs list down the street from my house, he gave me cash for everything, and I immediately drove to Circuit City and picked up my PS3.

I still can't believe some people don't understand MS will leak prices themselves to judge on the reaction of the price.

Good point DM.

Yes, Liverpool was the exception to the rule. The rest of the world is clearly a different league to the almighty Liverpool.

Clearly never been to Liverpool.

Honestly though there was a GAME, Virgin, HMV and gamestation all within ****ing distance of each other. All open at 12am. Everyone just scattered amongst the stores. Sure if we lived in the arse end of no where the queues might have been big. Like I said though come the weekend the all the stores in Liverpool, Wirral and North Wales were empty.

I dunno if MS is leaking a price to test reaction, they could be, and it would make sense. That way you don't have to stick to something and look silly, you have room to change it if needed. That aside, retail, IMO, is just going with the higher end of the pricing spectrum from what they figure it will be. It makes way more sense to price something for preorder higher if you're going to make a guess, that way if it comes in lower officially you don't lose out. IF retail priced it lower, like $50 and it ended up being $100, then they'll have to sell it for a loss on all the preorders they take.

The smartest thing to do, as a retailler taking preorders for something you don't know the official price for or for something that's price could very well change by the time it goes on sale is to price it at the higher end of to make sure you're covered. It just makes sense.

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
