PC for me.

I use my keyboard for shot em ups and a PC version of an Xbox 360 controller for driving games. For me the frame rates are better the graphics quality is better, (I have a Sapphire 5970 Toxic) and the games are cheaper.

There is a place for console gaming, I have a Wii which is a bit of fun, and in no way do I even think of comparing it to my PC gaming.

My son has an Xbox 360, and I can understand why it appeals to people, as you can just pop in a disk and play.

However, I do like the idea of playing around with the settings etc in PC gaming and what my PC can do to gaming is outstanding. :D

It comes down to the spec personly...

PS3

1xPPC 3.0GHZ IBM Cell

256MB MainMemory

256MN Nvidia RX7 (or something close to that)

12 Buttons, 1 D-Pad, 2 Sticks.

ps3 480/720/1080 locked at 60FPS

-(web browers suck) (wifi is slow) (Other OS was removed) (First Person Shoots are horrible useing a pad of any sort) (Can not replace parts) (can not upgrade parts expect HDD) (Short Life Span) ( Lack of Apps)

+(Stream video from Windows Home Server Excellent) (Plays singstar quite well) (play Games that are not RTS/FPS really good) (plays mp4 High Deff Video file extreamly well of the HDD) (People with no Brains can run with out messing it up)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PC

AMD Phenon II Quad 3.4GHZ

8GIG DDR2 800MHZ

3xRadeon 5770 3GIG GDDR5 memory

Keyboard (standered 101Keys)

Mouse R.A.T.7 (8 Buttons 1 Scroll)

PC Higher Resultuion with higher FPS

-(not cheap$$$) (not ment for people that only know how to use a console) (not for people that don't know how to mantain a System)

+(Plays Games 100%) (Internet Works best) (Plays ever video format best) (plays Music best) (Faster net Connections) (The only REAL way to play RTS and FPS) (Longerv Life Span) (Longer Support) (Parts Can be Repleaced) (Can be upgraded) (Bigest Selection of Apps out there)

HardCore Gammer and HardCore Gamming will alwazs be found on the PC well Casuel Games will remain on the consoles.

PC GAMERS ARE REAL GAMERS AND DONT CARE ABOUT TROPHYES OR ACHEVEMNTS. WE GAME BECUZ WE LOVE TO GAME. NOT TO HAVE THE HIGHEST GAMER SCORE! IT MEANS NOTHING>

Last notes:

Example: Call of Duty MW2 on Xbox 360 or PC. Ones that pick 360 have no skill. THe ones that pick PC Are "In it to win it no matter how you skin it" <true skill lives here<

Want some facts in an opinion based thread? :p

PC has better graphics, so if your a graphic ######, PC is your choice. DX11 is better than 9, and no console can match the power and graphics a PC can put out.

Comfort = Consoles can win this, but PC allows you to use any controller on it, so you could also say they are tied. Though xbox does not allow for keyboard and mouse configs, so it could be a little less equal than PC and PS3.

Price = This again is based off of starting from scratch. PC rig maybe 800 for a decent PC that will play almost anything out right now, plus monitor , so around $1000+. A console, $300, then you need a good TV to play it on. You could go for a monitor and have the same as a PC and keep the price lower, or if you go like I did, you get a big ass 55' TV and end up spending easily over $1000 just on it lol. So PC can be cheaper as well, if you sacrifice on viewing space with consoles.

Games = PC is getting most console games as pretty decent ports, but not all. Consoles will win on the games frontier, at least for new games. PC has a so many games out that they can choose from though, if we were to base it on that, PC would win.

Reliability - PC. A PC is more than likely not going to totally fail on you. A HDD might, Powersupply, or DVD drive, but you can replace those easily and cheaply, as well as that same day. A console breaks, doesn't matter what it is, you either pay for a repair, send it to get fixed, or buy another. Either way, you spend more money fixing a smaller issue, and it will most likely not be fixed the same day. Also, PC parts don't usually break down quick, and can take usually over 5+ years to break down. Take that with being able to open a PC up, clean out the parts, and do maintenance on it, it can last almost a decade with no problems if you did it right. Usually you only have to worry about 3 things on a PC, which are Video card, HDD, and Powersupply. Everything else can last much longer than the current gen consoles ever will.

Hands down, a PC will be the best choice for a real gamer. Those who say otherwise probably don't have a good enough PC to do gaming on. I know my PC has just recently not been able to play many of the newest games, so I went ahead and got a PS3. I haven't had a console since N64, so I figured I have plenty to catch up on, as on the PC I have tired of the insane collection lol.

What a console can do, a PC can do and more. It's like asking what is better, a biplane or a harrier jet. Sure both fly, but one can fly circles around the other.

I play both, but PC will always be superior.

I use to say "PC all the way!" But in this day and age, they're becoming more and more obsolete.

Consoles have a huge library of games and a dedicated community all to their own. With a PC, you

have to upgrade to keep up, and in many cases, they end up costing more than a console! Plus,

with a PC, you have annoying upkeep and maintenance, which also impacts performance. Finally,

you have all the annoying DRM and rootkits to deal with, and that's not even including conventional

malware. Not worth it.

We grew up with Nintendo (well, consoles in general), so I think that's the way

they're meant to be played.

You are viewing upgrading a PC incorrectly compared to a console. Yes, you have to keep upgrading maybe everyone once a year to do the absolute most on the absolutely newest tech game, but for all the games that have come out, it really is not like that anymore. And yes, while you get that option to keep upgrading, thats what you get, an option. With consoles, there is no upgrading, ever. You are stuck with whatever tech they put in there and the limitations bound to it. So while PC'ers are enjoying awesome dx11 games, console players are still on dx9. Sort of like an apple vs android debate, freedom of choice vs locked in methods.

Used to be console, but in the last couple of years and ever since I've found neowin, became interested in computers and built my own gaming machine, I'd definitely say a PC! I have a PS3 which I use to play exclusive games and any bargains I can pick up for it, but the main base of my gaming is on my computer, the nicer graphics and easy ways to communicate with my friends whilst playing games makes it so much more enjoyable. Keyboard and mouse all the way, although for platformers and racing games I use my 360 controller as it doesn't feel right with the keyboard. :)

PC has better graphics

True.

Comfort = Consoles can win this

While I agree that I find gaming more comfortable on the console, that isn't a fact.

Though xbox does not allow for keyboard and mouse configs

Actually you can on the Xbox, so long as the game supports it. FFXI on the 360 supports k/m for example. The entire UI also support k/m on the 360 as well as the media center that is built in.

A console, $300, then you need a good TV to play it on.

Everyone already has a TV, so you don't need to equate that in the cost. You can get a console for $199 (Xbox 360 S), and play every Xbox 360 game, online or offline. So it would be $199 for the console, $60 for each game. No need to buy a TV.

Consoles will win on the games frontier

Yup. Consoles have substantially more game variety.

Reliability - PC. A PC is more than likely not going to totally fail on you.

PCs are unreliable by nature. Windows sucks. Both consoles and PC's are unreliable and can be costly to repair.

Hands down, a PC will be the best choice for a real gamer.

Not true. Just another opinion.

Those who say otherwise probably don't have a good enough PC to do gaming on.

Nope. I think a real gamer is someone who likes to play games.

What a console can do, a PC can do and more.

It also costs more, and plays less games.

I play both, but PC will always be superior.

Another opinion.

I thought you were bringing facts? tongue.gif

I don't have a TV. There you go.

More variety on consoles? That's a fail.

Reliability depends on the quality of the hardware, therefore, there isn't a winner here.

You got it wrong in the "plays less games" part. Totally wrong. May I suggest native games as one, and emulated games as the second kind (you know, PS, PS2, legacy consoles and stuff...).

The PC is a superior invention, yes.

I used to be a PC guy when I was younger but as I've gotten older I have gotten really busy and don't have the time for all the necessary tweaking of PC games so I have switched over to consoles. I think the 360 controller is by far the best but I am tired of Microsoft treating their customers like dirt so if Sony could ever put out a decent controller I'll be buying their machine.

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
