[Official] Kinect - Over 4 million units sold!

If men dancing around with cheesey smiles practically hugging each other, high fiving and going "ohhhhh" in a locker room is an enjoyable advert for you that's fine rofl.gif I think it's one of the worst adverts I've seen in a while, let's see if the rest of Neowin thinks it's bang on.

umm, they're football players. it's what they do, and it's a football game.

and what's wrong with guys having fun and high fiving and giving group hugs anyway, unless you're highly homophobic ? they're not saying you need to do this.

Yeaaaah I don't think you watch the EPL laugh.gif I'm not homophobic but that advert screams camp, I mean, the start of it "back in the locker room....", sounds like the opening to a porno matched with the music.

Apparently the reviews are embargoed till AFTER launch?

That doesn't seem like a great idea IMO.

But you know AWBrian got his review kit before any press did, maybe his website doesn't have an embargo? rofl.gif

Oh really? Holy ****, when did this happen!?!? I better go home and see if there is a Kinect at my house that I have been playing and didn't even know it. w00t.gifrofl.gif

You're just going to heavily imply that you might have one then?...

Someones been watching too much porn then if that's the first thing that poped in your head.

I hope he never watches American Football games, he might go Neil Patrick Harris on us. Ok, back to playing with my imaginary Kinect.

No worries, MS has sent our website review software for Kinect, so it's all good :)

How does your website review the software you received before any major gaming outlets? By staring at it super hard?

Considering **I** didn't receive it, I guess that is the only choice I would have. rofl.gif I wish I was the one reviewing it laugh.gif, but alas, it's never been anywhere near me, nor have I seen it :( Other than at the mall.

Would of been believable if you hadn't of claimed the website you're part of that no one has heard of on here received the review kits before Game Informer and all the other gaming outlets. Unlucky bro.

Poor chap. laugh.gif It's ok man, you messed up...it's ok.

I expect the software was still getting some last minute work done. (I know the relevant Dashboard update still isn't out of beta.)

Hell, I'm still sure the initial software will suck. I'm only getting three games when I grab it...the rest can wait for reviews.

Regarding that football advert on the other page, it looks pretty bad. I don't know if it's just me but it seems amateurish in terms of the pretty poor acting and the fact that it looks like it's been done on a camcorder or cheap camera. Especially when you compare it to a official advert below it.

So no one in here would've been asking for reviews near release and no one would of answered them with saying there is en embargo until after? Seriously, stop whining about who posts what, it's relevant to know when you'll see reviews for a piece of hardware whether you think that's negative news or not.

I'm sure the people who care about reviews also know how to wait until the reviews are out. It's not a skill that's overly hard to master.

I don't see the issue with the embargo. We've heard plenty of first hand accounts of it being fantastic already. Its probably more an issue of not wanting to repeat what happened with the Xbox 360 when it was first released. Nobody could get ahold of it and it ****ed a lot of people off. If they don't let reviews out so early, people won't read in to it so much before its launched so they won't be able to decide they want to get it right at launch. The chances of getting one at launch seem to be dwindling. Unlike the 360 itself, people might just pass over Kinect if they can't get their hands on it right when they want to, so the less they want to get it immediately, the better off MS will be.

Are we sure there's an embargo? I've seen Giant Bomb do a number videos on Kinect (don't know if that counts as a review, though). Here's one they did for Sonic Free Riders.

It'll be an embargo on reviewing the hardware and slapping a score on it.

Ah, I see. Now that I look it doesn't seem they've officially reviewed any of the Kinect games, although they've spoken about it enough to constitute what I would consider a review.

This can only be a bad thing :(

Agreed, it's never a good sign when you hold press embargoes until after launch. I have seen instances where it's simply to avoid important information getting out (in terms of spoiling movies or games), but I don't think Kinect really has much of an issue about that.

The only potential positive spin on it I can logically see is Microsoft wanting to make sure all the firmware works for everyone on the launch. Since the beta is still ongoing, it seems that's an issue, but I don't see how that would hamper reviews of the games.

Yeah they do a lot of quick looks for games which aren't out yet. Which is suprising as they some times do tell it how it is on them.

The thing I don't get is that if MS is hiding something then why did they go on tour with this kinect thing and let people try out what there is product like. I get it they're doing lot of modification on software side, which wasn't all that bad in the first place and they're tweaking it till the end so when they release it would simply work (or not either).

But saying that it will fail without trying it first or before the product has even been released it just plain dumb (Especially GI?s Andy). How someone can say that its doom to fail has any software or hardware MS released has been embargoed and failed before that I don't know about. Some might be right it's might be the worst product MS has released but we don't know do we until we get our hand on it.

Most of the comments on the forums (not only here) I?ve seen people who?re making these comments are PS FB?s and some of them are so dumb that I want to hit them with their own PS3 slim or phat whatever they have. I may be wrong but I think this is for getting back at the people who made comments about PS Move. Even I made funny comments on it, not that it was bad that it just looked funny (like a glowing dildo). Last thing I want to do is make funny gestures in front of the TV and look like an idiot when someone walks in. But can everyone wait 2 weeks (well weeks and a half if someone breaks the release date) to make funny comments of kinect, I will joint you too.

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
