They need to actually sort out how things are displayed in the dashboard and reduce all the useless aspects of it that only amount to more scrolling and clicking. Small visual tweaks will not solve the major flaws. They still haven't solved the issue of showing loads of items that they said NXE would do. It's a mess.

I am fine with the speed of NXE going through each square (when I bother to use NXE). However, sometimes things are slow to load (such as friends when on NXE...their avatars take ages to load at times). Also, sometimes it takes a bit for content to appear when inside the marketplace when accessing the details for a game.

I have a 6Mb connection, and avatars and other content load instantly for me. :blink:

Very odd. 25mb here, and they don't pop up instantly, and haven't on two different Xbox 360s. I haven't checked my Xbox 360 S performance with the avatars yet.

Looks boring :/ I wonder if we'll be able to have My Xbox as the default menu rather than Spotlight this time. Doubt it, so it looks like a backwards step.

Agreed. I do not ever look at the spotlight menu, first thing that happens is mepressing up to go to the My Xbox menu which I would love to have as the default. I would love to see a faster dashboard as well. As others have stated its seems rather slow especially bringing up the guide with the guide button, friends lists, sending messages, etc. Last update supposedly made the dashboard faster but I never noticed any sort of significant improvement.

I had no issue with scrolling through the NXE menus to be honest, where I have issues currently is:

a) Things that require some for of data connection. In particular loading market place data. Most noticable when you have a long list and just scroll continuously through it. Often it can't keep up.

b) Lack of search. Something they should be able to address IMHO and it'd make browsing for games so much easier and add so much more value to my chat pad accessory. It'd make finding games easier when theres cases of a game in a series having words prepended to it...ie "Ultimate Mortal Kombat" vs "Mortal Kombat Vs DC" as a crude example.

Stupid Kotaku, they even have the Neowin news team thinking this is news :no:

It still absolutely amazes me that they have posted these screenshots before a month ago, yet they only just now catch on -- and I even left a comment in their old news articles pointing it out when they first published them.

Somewhat off-topic but on-topic: Kotaku's news reporting has been rather bad the past few months. I've seen so many spelling and grammatical errors that it's become rather annoying to read at times. They report a lot of news extremely late (like this), too.

      U.S. partially reverses Anthropic AI ban for Mythos but keeps Fable 5 off the market by Karthik Mudaliar Anthropic says that the U.S. government has finally allowed it to restore Claude Mythos 5. But of course, there's a catch. The rollout is again for a limited set of U.S. organizations that operate and defend critical infrastructure. The company announced this in a post on X (formerly Twitter). This does not mean that Anthropic's latest frontier models are back to normal availability. Fable 5, which was a tuned version of Mythos 5 for public release, remains unavailable. Anthropic said that it is still working with the government to expand Mythos 5 access and make Fable 5 available again, but there's no timeline. Reports from Bloomberg and Reuters say that this decision actually came through a letter from the U.S. Commerce Department. According to Reuters, this would allow more than 100 companies and institutions access to Mythos 5. Reuters also reported that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s letter removes the need for export licenses for approved companies’ non-US citizen employees, as well as Anthropic’s own non-US citizen employees, while restrictions remain for organizations outside the approved list. Anthropic isn't alone with this kind of controlled rollout. OpenAI's newest model family, GPT 5.6, was announced just yesterday, but isn't available for everyone yet. In its announcement, OpenAI also said that access to these models is initially limited to a select group of trusted partners and organizations, with broader access planned later this year. Both of these cases show that frontier AI launches are no longer just ordinary product releases and more like slow and vetted deployments shaped heavily by the U.S. government.
