The new status-4-evar is out. It fixes the hover-link fubar.

Status-4-Ever is godsent, thanks for the info! I just have two issues with it. First I only use it to restore the URL pointer functionality and nothing else, disabled all other options yet my URL bar is now 26 pixels high instead of 24, only 2 pixels, yes but to me the difference is noticable, any way to reverse this while keeping addon?

Second, after installing it my Addon bar looks like this :blink:

How do I get rid of the white shine?

Sparky's latest release 02B put the status text back where it belongs. :)

* The advanced progress meter style editor isn't ready yet. Instead, there is a text box where you can manually edit the CSS background property. See the W3C CSS background property for details.

* The location bar styling still need a little work. The borders/margins might be a little off.

Adding this peace of code to your add-on bar style should fix your second problem:

#addon-bar {background: none !important;}

LE:

fixes your first problem but the status text is off-center now...

Turns out my issues were due to stumbleupon's toolbar, not stylish. If anyone wants a slick fading toolbar, combining codes from foxxyn8 and http://userstyles.org/styles/41338:

have you tried adding buttons to the bookmark bar, then installing the script? I get two seperate fading rows instead of one.

I managed to get all of the items (in my case, buttons, bookmarks and stumbleupon toolbar) in one row, but i can't figure out a way of justifying the toolbar to the right without manually adding multiple spaces (not flexible spaces). :(

Is it possible to make it fade and yet allow me to drag/drop things onto the bar?

adjust the width of #personal-bookmarks to get everything in one row. The only thing I know of to to do with regards to the drag/drop is to increase the transition delay of #PersonalToolbar and make sure its showing before trying to drag something to it

that seems to work, but I have a rather stupid question, how do I get the toolbar to show up again? It isn't appearing on hover or click... and all I changed was the #personal-bookmarks parameter...

#personal-bookmarks shouldn't have had any effect on that. The only thing in the style that might cause that would be if you set the hover delay too high or your bookmark toolbar is disabled. Try disabling then renabling the bookmark toolbar.

ohh clever, you have a delay. I was using my buggy cobbled together script with no delay, I didn't have the patience to leave the cursor there for the 1.25 seconds to find out if it would pop up. I've set that to 0 now, thanks for all the help, very nice scripting you've got here, works perfect!

I would suggest to reduce the default fade in time (not the delay - that might get annoying) because its not too intuitive to wait over there to get the bar back, programs like winamp etc change opacity almost immediately over hover.

- Change the colour of the menubutton to match the Windows glass colour. (essentially the same colour as an inactive tab?

- move tab-bar down a bit so as to enable Aero Snap when Firefox is maximized.

First off: thanks to everyone participating in this thread for the awesome work and the great ideas you've provided to everyone.

Now, getting to the business at hand: I've been a long-time FF3 user (currently at FF 3.6.13) and I have it customized to my exact likings, but there's only so much I can do with it and FF4 is almost on top of us. So tonight I set out on getting my fingers dirty with all the necessary tweaks and adjustments (using FF4b12pre 'just 'cause) and I've got things almost perfect - the tip above and the code for Stylish to shrink the menu button to basically just the arrow was beautiful and, well, this is what I've got it down to (and of course, this is a fresh installation, portable actually since that's what I prefer):

Now, here's what I'm aiming for - did some editing in Paint Shop Pro and I would dearly absolutely most positively love to get this layout if it's at all possible:

If it's possible, I would be eternally grateful to whoever can show me the way. I just installed Stylish, did that menu button code and it's almost perfect at this point, but I really would love to know if it's possible to get the Address Bar up there where I want it. If not, I know that I can move the menu button down to the area to the left of the Address Bar, which is somewhat useful I suppose, but then it'll leave that huge white space of nothing up there and I don't have a need for that.

I wish it was technically possible to actually do one of the following: increase the size of the title bar from ~20 pixels to 25 so it can match the size of the Address Bar exactly, or b) decrease the size/height of the Address Bar from 25 down to the ~20 so it's an exact match up there in between those buttons.

Regardless, I'm very pleased with the extreme minimalist layout that I can get (the first pic above), but I'd really love to get that even more minimalistic second shot if it's possible at all. I don't need buttons at all since I use All-In-One Gestures for most everything (I have a ton of gestures that can do most anything with the flick of the mouse) so, I do like the clean look and it can't get much cleaner than this. :D
