This isn't going well at all, confidence is just continuing to sink at Anfield at this moment in time. Whilst I obviously find the thought of relegation absolutely awful as a supporter if anyone thinks liverpool going down is impossible, look at what happened to leeds united. A turnaround is needed, and it is needed very soon otherwise confidence will continue to sink so low that it will make recovering potential form hard. I guess all of the nay sayers who criticised Rafa will be chewing on their words though.

You guys (well, UK guys anyway) seen this?

Could be interesting if she wins.

I hope she does. The prices that Sky charge for its sport channels are extortionate, and the fact that our competition commissions overlook it is disappointing to say the least.

I agree that it would be good(for the customers) if she wins, even though I don't really watch footy. But the amount of money pumped into football has spoilt it in my opinion. You only have to look at the amount of clubs that have big debts to see that something isn't right. I know it would never happen,(because it would have to be on a world wide basis), but footy should look at the Rugby League salary cap - clubs can only spend £1.65 million on the top 25 players in their squad. Although obviously in footy, the amount would have to be higher than that.

Agreed, overpriced and overpayed primadonnas. And the racketeering that the league does with TV companies to sell its TV rights is a scam as well, the competition commission should have looked into it ages ago. Only having one company offering live matches is at a severe detriment to the consumer.

When I can't watch the game we can't win! It is as simple as that. :/ Poor game from what I heard...

Wtf is wrong with De Jong? One of our most promising youngster and already a broken leg... De Jong deserves a year ban, at least! But no, the FA decided otherwise... GG guys. :x

He's lost it with his blithering ways and is very quickly becoming a laughing stock.

buddy, the team was junk before he got there and now he has the responsibility of doing a make over with next to no resrouces, give him a break and some time.

I disagree. In most areas competition is a good thing, but not for sports rights.

Now if I want to watch all televised premiership matches, I have to sign up for Sky Sports and ESPN.

All matches sold as one package, with a cap on charges would be a better solution for home consumers.

Pubs should be forced to buy from a UK company. They should also charge more, as there is much more interest here, and therefore more profit for pubs.

Two possible buyers for Liverpool. One from Asia, and the other is owner of the Boston Red Sox.

But the club's American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are understood to be opposing the sale of the Reds to either of the two parties.

Three independent members of the board - managing director Christian Purslow, chairman Martin Broughton and commercial director Ian Ayre - will favour a sale and are weighing up whether to accept one of the bids.

But it is thought Hicks and Gillett are against accepting as neither bid would see the duo walk away with a profit.

looks like it could be drawn out for a long time!

Yanks out! We have to keep the momentum going.

Worst start for 53 years mate, and this is with a team that finished second just over a year ago.

Our fall from grace is mainly due to the stained atmosphere around the club and the shipping out of players, and this is due to the Yanks. But, Roy Hodgson wouldn't be the man to take us forward even if we did have some decent owners who weren't intent on sucking us dry.

Sold!

Liverpool Football Club today announces that the Board has agreed the sale of the Club to New England Sports Ventures (NESV).

New England Sports Ventures currently owns a portfolio of companies including the Boston Red Sox, New England Sports Network, Fenway Sports Group and Rousch Fenway Racing.

Martin Broughton, Liverpool FC Chairman, said:

"I am delighted that we have been able to successfully conclude the sale process which has been thorough and extensive. The Board decided to accept NESV's proposal on the basis that it best met the criteria we set out originally for a suitable new owner. NESV's philosophy is all about winning and they have fully demonstrated that at Red Sox.

"We've met them in Boston, London and Liverpool over several weeks and I am immensely impressed with what they have achieved and with their vision for Liverpool Football Club.

"By removing the burden of acquisition debt, this offer allows us to focus on investment in the team. I am only disappointed that the owners have tried everything to prevent the deal from happening and that we need to go through legal proceedings in order to complete the sale."

Note to editors:

The sale is conditional on Premier League approval, resolution of the dispute concerning Board membership and other matters.

... pending a massive legal battle

Anyone know anything about the Red Sox owner? From what I have heard he is good with money, but will charge 'maximum' ticket prices.

Even if he does I can't see it being possible for him to screw things up any more. I just hope this sale goes through, and the fact that hicks and gillett are doing their utmost to hang on just shows their distinct lack of class, they know the fans want them out.

    • I and many others did not vote to get out of the E.u because of Putin or Farage, we did so for our own reasons. You don't have to tel me what my own did or did not do when it comes to the E.U. The EEC is or was the European Economic Community, a different beast to what the E.U is now.The EEC was a mainly about trading, the E.U have gone far beyond that and as I have said before, is now more of a United States of Europe. The U.K did not vote to join a United States of Europe. Anyway, they did not want us in there in the first place, Charles de Gaulle stopped us joining as he claimed we didn’t agree with the core ideas of integration. He was not wrong and that is why we voted out of the E.U when the time came. I was not old enough to vote the first time. My only regret is that we did not have the referendum years ago and got out years ago. If we rejoined, we would have to agree to join the Euro and no doubt Schengen, agree with freedom of movement, we have enough problem with people coming over here as it is. i have no problem with people coming over here if they work and don't try to push their way of life onto us. The E.U has a currency, freedom of movement, an anthem a flag, a parliament, well they are there, not sure if they do anything. Don't sound like something that is just for trading. Oh yeah, also wanted a euro Army. How many stupid rules have the E.U made that we had to follow? I doubt I will see the Uk rejoin the E.U, which suits me. Oh yeah, my partner is Polish, she came over here before Poland joined the E.U and she got fed up of people just coming over here with ease, while she had to struggle. She is now a British citizen and have been for a fair few years
    • Hello, Paul. Thanks for the editorial. It was interesting. I'm going research more into the app and its concept. Of course, if you know me at all, you know that I'd say your articles needs some editing! I a;ways do, don't I? For instance, the article occasionally mentions a concept before defining it, e.g., relays.
    • Screamer is 50% off on Steam, making it £24.99 here in the UK: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2814990/Screamer/ You might remember the series from the mid 90s / early 2000s, this new game is also by Milestone who created the older games.
    • U.S. partially reverses Anthropic AI ban for Mythos but keeps Fable 5 off the market by Karthik Mudaliar Anthropic says that the U.S. government has finally allowed it to restore Claude Mythos 5. But of course, there's a catch. The rollout is again for a limited set of U.S. organizations that operate and defend critical infrastructure. The company announced this in a post on X (formerly Twitter). This does not mean that Anthropic's latest frontier models are back to normal availability. Fable 5, which was a tuned version of Mythos 5 for public release, remains unavailable. Anthropic said that it is still working with the government to expand Mythos 5 access and make Fable 5 available again, but there's no timeline. Reports from Bloomberg and Reuters say that this decision actually came through a letter from the U.S. Commerce Department. According to Reuters, this would allow more than 100 companies and institutions access to Mythos 5. Reuters also reported that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s letter removes the need for export licenses for approved companies’ non-US citizen employees, as well as Anthropic’s own non-US citizen employees, while restrictions remain for organizations outside the approved list. Anthropic isn't alone with this kind of controlled rollout. OpenAI's newest model family, GPT 5.6, was announced just yesterday, but isn't available for everyone yet. In its announcement, OpenAI also said that access to these models is initially limited to a select group of trusted partners and organizations, with broader access planned later this year. Both of these cases show that frontier AI launches are no longer just ordinary product releases and more like slow and vetted deployments shaped heavily by the U.S. government.
