Kinect Priced, New Bundles, 4GB Slim Announced

I suppose since you get a game with it, the $150 price might not look that bad to most. People figured it'd be $150 for JUST the device itself. And really, if you look at the other bundle, 360S 4GB + kinect for $299 + game, then it does come out to $99 for it. I expect retail to do some deals though, as always.

I'd prefer an option for Kinect without the game for ?99 tbh

To fully use it you'd need a game though, wouldn't you? Also, since this is more or less to draw in the casuale "wii" gamers the target SKU for MS to sell is the 360+kinect for $299 imo. If kinect goes anywhere that's the SKU sales numbers people should be looking at overall I'd say.

Yes but I don't like them choosing the game for me.

The only reason they've bundled it with anything is for attach rate and hoping it's a success the same way Wii Sports was. Which is actually backwards thinking when you think about it because Wii Sports came back to haunt Nintendo when gamers didn't buy anything else.

And yeah you are right, I am holding off for the bundle (Y) So looks like it'll be priced £250 here. Hopefully with a little shopping around I can find it closer to £200 though.

To fully use it yes. Though my intent to buy it is for the NXE interaction.

LOL! I post from work all the time. Work is VERY boring here!

What do you do? What kind of a job is THAT boring that you get paid good(obviously lol) and can be on neowin?

I mean hell, i get to sit on a computer at one of my jobs, but even when its a complete slow lackluster day, I still cant be on neowin all the time or just sit on the computer. Feels so wrong at work lol.

Mainly the reason I want it, and driving games. I drive a stick in real life, would like to do it in a game to without using triggers to go and up and down to shift. **** that.

Hmmm... Thinking do I need 250gb of storage, or will 4gb do.

Had a 360 before but its banned gonna keep it for single payer games. Buy a new arcade for online games, you get plenty of saves and map packs in 4gb.

Only other thing I remember being on xbl of significant size is demos, I dont download arcade games... ah and they haveusb storage now!

Arcade it is, maybe mit Kinect.

Was that ?250 figure for the uk arcade + kinect bundle Munky?

I work in accounting. I have worked here 11 years and I pretty much am my own boss. :)

I will use it for games too, but my priority was NXE (Zune movies, etc).

Didn't realize the bundle was with the Arcade, screw that :( I want 250GB

I think it is understandable. Especially if you consider the fact that it will be cheaper in the long run than both the Wii and Move (no need to buy additional controllers or replace broken controllers, etc). Either way, MS was waiting for the pricing of Move to make their price and unfortunately Move kept the bar high.

Maybe we'll still get a kinect only version for $99, or retail specials for that price even with the game. One has to wonder what retails cut is out of the $150.

Lucky. Thats why your picking up new consoles and games left and right :p

NXE integration and a serious fitness is enough to justify the price to me.

Same. Mainly it would be awesome to control my 360 without a controller but im not paying $150.

Microsoft needs a consumer / demand check and realize everyone is asking for $100.

They should release kinect only, **** kinectifail game and ill buy it for $100

Pre-ordered it on a reflex (i've wanted it since it was first announced) but now i'm......unsure :( Between this and my Reach Legendary edition i'm going to have to forego life's little luxuries like food and petrol!!!

PS - Does anyone know if it will be possible to use a usb switch to have a Kinnect connected (say that fast a few times!) to a PC and 360? Everything is next to my TV and I remember vague promises that there would be some sort of kinnect support in Windows 7. What can I say? I liked Minority Report!!

To me, Kinect is a multi-user device with really huge potential for multiplayer experiences in the home. For four controllers you could shell out near $200 for rechargeable ones. Natal requires no batteries, can recognize the same number of players for less. Not to mention it comes with a game (two cameras, basically two 360 Vision cams). The price is understandable, albeit not desirable by the consumer.

Once Kinect reaches £75-£100 I would probably get it, £129.99 is too much for me, and personally I don't think it would be worth the money for me at that price.

And I'm pretty sure I don't have the room either lol.

Lol who did that image.

They are comparing different types of games for the 360 compared to the PS3/Wii so to get a proper fitness/sports genre game you would have to buy another 360 game, they have nav controllers for the sports champions when you only need a Move controller, so even with another for two player that's only $150.

And they have a sports game included with the Wii so you only need to add a second controller/nunchuck, so that's only $60 for multi-player.

Who do you think did that image? ;) Microsoft is trying to justify the price.

I don't agree with the Wii comparison, throwing the board in there isn't fair. I think the Sony comparison is right, though. Kincet can do 2 players right out of the box so you need to buy more addons to get more players on Sony.

I think people would more likely think "should I buy a Wii as an addition to my Xbox or a Kinect?"

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
