Dinner for Schmucks

I'll just say this: a mediocre comedy to the core. There's very little funny in the movie that wasn't in the trailers, and it's horribly cliched. It's not a pain to watch, but it just doesn't seem like there's much there to the story or the comedy. Hot Tub Time Machine had the same problem -- it was a one trick pony with the jokes, and the jokes simply weren't that funny. Not horrible, but save your money.

I completely disagree. I went to the theatre this afternoon and both myself and the wife loved it. The problem is, Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd both are an aquired taste IMO, you ether love their brand of comedy or hate it and if you're stuck in the middle you will most likely not enjoy it as much. The movie itself is not meant to have some major plot twists, you go into the movie knowing what's gonna happen, the premise is basic and is what's seen in the trailers. I'm a fan of both actors and think that they work VERY well together, as they did in 40 yo virgin, but myself and my wife thought this movie had a bunch of laughs and was very enjoyable.

That's just it, though: I love both Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd. They did fine in the movie. The problem is the general storyline and the lack of humor in the script. I'm not saying twists, either, I'm just saying it was cliched and lacked any sort of originality. The general premise being basic is no excuse for a weak script and lack of humor. It's nowhere near on the level of 40 Year-Old Virgin.

Is it enjoyable? It's average, maybe. It's more than tolerable. But your money is best spent elsewhere.
