As for GW1 not being an MMO while GW2 is, I understand where you're coming from, but they originally planned a companion system in GW2 where you could either play without your companion and receive a buff, or play with your companion and have an AI controlled character follow you around and help. I know they cancelled that feature far before release, but it is a feature I would have loved to see in the game. Built with social interaction in mind or not, I shouldn't be forced to group with other people to complete half the content (look at WoW for example, you can pretty much complete everything but instances on your own......GW2 has lots of content outside instances that can't be completed on your own, which highly limits what someone who WANTS to play on their own can do).

GW2 has lots of content that can't be completed without a group? That's sure news to me. Almost all of pve outside of dungeons is super easy and requires no help. The only exceptions are typically things like world bosses and some events here and there in orr.

So with this:

The Zodiac Weapon Skins are now available for purchase from the Black Lion Weapon Specialist. This weapon skin set is inspired by the classic Guild Wars Zodiac weapons. For one month only, until September 16, these weapon skins cost only 1 Black Lion Claim Ticket. Claim Ticket Scraps can be acquired by opening Black Lion Chests. Black Lion Chest Keys are available in the Gem Store in the Consumable category for 125 gems each or a pack of 5 for 450 gems.

Arenanet continues to show they don't listen to their player base one little bit. Cause if they did they'd stop this lottery skin bull**** that NOONE likes.

Did the ending ceremony last night, i wont post spoilers but i really enjoyed it as well as the whole clockwork steampunk thing going on with this content patch. Loving it.

I was disappointed with it for the simple fact that the audio was completely messed up for me. It was completely desynced or something. I didn't hear about half of it. I had a couple of friends who said the same thing happened to them too so it wasn't just a problem on my end.

might explain the quick patch right after we logged off

Super Adventure Box is making a return with a new world (joy/sarcasm) along with crafting to 500 and the removal of magic find as a gear stat (at last).

All in all it sounds good. I didn't really care for Super Adventure Box the first time, it was pretty frustrating but all of the other changes are needed in my opinion.

I hope you can also buy ascended weapons some way. I'd rather not have to do the boring grind of 3 crafting professions.

I had read that a lot of people were having jumbled audio problems, i didnt expierience any problems with it

I pre-ordered this game, and played it for about.. 2 weeks.  Got bored of it.. may have to start playing again and see the changes.

Same boat here.  For me, the area quests got old fast and the "personal story line" wasn't compelling enough :/.

I need to see if the patches and changes will make it funner for me.

MMO's usually don't have compelling stories anyway. So you can't really hold that against this game alone.

I can understand that. Lucky for me that I've already got weapon smithing and artificer at 400 and my hunstman is around 250.

My crafting is for leather and huntsman, as I am a hunter and they are very low because I can never find the time to work on them, I should really work on it to make my own stuff and try to make some money

So is the crafting system still a major loss? Last time I played it was cheaper to buy the crafted items from the AH and sell the raw materials you found, than to actually use those materials to make the items.

Nice to see them go away with specific magic find, my warrior runs around in MF runed armor, so if I do start playing again I'll be able to drop that and get some proper armor.

We don't know yet. Sadly from what they've said most of the new 400+ crafting stuff will be time gated account bound materials. I hope they surprise us and let us sell the time gated materials though. If they did we'd probably be able to make a lot money from crafting.

As for MF. I'm excited for that because I haven't bothered with magic find at all. I had a set of mf  gear once upon a time but it got salvaged a long time ago. I'm curious what they're gonna do with the gear that has magic find on it. Are people going to log in on the Sept. 3 and find they don't have any gear anymore? I feel they're gonna have to compensate people for it some how. I think they'll just replace the magic find stat with something else, but what?

Honestly, people complained during the betas that magic find on gear was a bad idea and they should have canned it then. But it took them a year to do do it after many complaints and it's created more work for them that otherwise wouldn't be needed. But on the other hand they didn't have the account wide buffs back then either.

On my celestial(all stat) trinkets it would be easy to handle it. Just increase the other stats by like 10% to make up for the part of the stat allocation that was used by the magic find on it. for normal 3 stat gear though, it wont be as simple and wil be interesting to see how they handle it.

What about the current crafting (that's what I was mostly interested in)? Is it a loss right now to make your own gear?

As for MF, mine comes only from runes, so they could for example remove all the runes, then add that MF value to my account (or convert the runes to the Essences of Luck), I assume they can do the same for regular gear, but they will need to find a way to convert the gear from the MF type to one of the other types. Perhaps leave the MF stat on the gear but it gives NO BENEFIT, then add a merchant that allows you to buy an item (with no MF) of the same type and quality with a cost of the item that has MF. So you essentially trade your old MF gear for the same item/quality of gear that doesn't have MF (and gives extra toughness or whatever...like you could trade MF armor for Knights armor).

Though they will have to find a way to put a cap on it, otherwise you could farm the essences and get a stupid high amount of MF....according to the wiki the max magic find you can get from gear is 167%, so they could use that as an account-wide cap which can then only be increased by temporary effects like what can currently be done.

It's hard to say. I don't watch the market prices all that much. But the other day I was looking to get some exotic accessories and they were around 4g on the market iirc. I think you could make profit selling them. Especially if you gather the orichalcum and gems yourself. That would leave you with buying the ectoplasms which are 20-25 silver each. Leaving you with a decent profit. In that specific case, it seems like making accessories might be quite profitable. But I don't think this applies to all other crafting professions.

An example, if you bought all the materials to make these

You would probably net yourself 2g in profits if not a bit more.

I really wasn't holding this against the game alone... I was holding this against the game along with what is (in my opinion) a boring leveling grind.  I brought up the storyline because if that would have been more compelling then the grind would have been more acceptable to me...

Doesn't look like a whole lot has changed.

Bags are a good example (general bags at least), 10 slot bags for example cost 5s for the rune of holding, the wool scraps are worth 7s 60c, assuming you farm the scraps you are still paying 5s for the rune, if you sell the scraps instead at 7s 50c you earn 6s 38c, you can then buy the bag for 9s. You only spend a grand total of 2s and 62c to buy the bag off the trading post instead of 5s for the rune of holding.

The only bags you don't lose money on for crafting vs buying them is the 15 and 18 slot bags, but even those are a very small margin of money gained.

It doesn't look as bad as it was in the past (back when the game was new the bags cost no more than the price of the rune on its own), but crafting still doesn't seem worth it unless you really play the market and get some niche items to sell. It's not like WoW and other MMOs where some items will just always sell well because they are so frequently used for other things.

I mostly agree with you and that could be the downside to having 1 market that every server is connected to. It also doesn't help that 3 or 4 crafting professions can make bags.

That and every character in the game can potentially have every crafting profession maxed, meaning where's far more characters capable of crafting an item from any profession than traditional MMOs where you only get access to a few crafting professions per character. It's nice that you can focus on a main character like that but it kills the market since everyone can do every profession.

Recently got back into the game but now I'm experiencing the MainCli.cpp corruption crash, get it about 4-5 times a day. They really need to fix it, tonnes of people on threads complaining and asking for an official comment on it but it's just going ignored. Apart from that really enjoying the game although I agree with everyone above me, the ability to have all professions maxed on one character easily is really making it hard to make any sort of money from it :(

    • YouTube has finally brought back its DMs feature, but only in these countries by David Uzondu Late last year, YouTube started testing a "new" way to share videos directly with friends, without having to leave the app. Now, the video giant has announced that is now rolling out a revamped direct messaging inbox, which lets you share videos, Shorts, and live streams and have conversations about them, directly on YouTube. The platform limits this feature to 18+ users who are signed in to a verified channel and use the latest mobile app version. Direct messaging on YouTube first became a thing back in 2017 inside the mobile app (later renamed to "Messages"), where users could chat one-on-one and share clips directly, but all that came to an end on September 18, 2019, when Google decided to shut it down after giving users a month to download a .zip file archive of their past chats. No one really knows why YouTube killed the feature, but users were encouraged to migrate to the public Comments section, on Community tab posts, and via YouTube Stories. The previous incarnation suffered from moderation challenges, prompting Google to implement stricter safety guidelines and age verifications for this new iteration. Here's a list of the countries where the re-launched feature is currently available, though note that Brand Accounts do not have access to it, at least for now: Countries American Samoa Austria Belgium Brazil Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece Guam Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands Northern Mariana Islands Norway Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Romania Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden Switzerland U.S. Virgin Islands United Kingdom United States Before you can use the feature, you first have to send an invite link to your contact. Invite links expire exactly seven days after you create them. If the person on the other end accepts the invite, you can exchange videos directly and text back and forth inside the app. To delete a message, just long-press on the message and tap unsend to remove it for both users. You can also delete entire conversations by long-pressing the thread and selecting delete, but the other person will continue to see the chat history on their end. To make sure everything remains safe, YouTube monitors these messages to ensure they follow Community Guidelines.
    • The problem of course is simply that government does not always know best. My point is that agency is taken away from the EU consumer in these cases. I'm sorry, but I do not believe that governments (politicians) are inherently good, and "looking out for me." Primarily they look to themselves and their own personal desires first, foremost, and always. When the EU or the DOJ fines these companies, claiming to "represent the welfare of the consumer," how much of these billion-dollar judgments are handed to the consumers they claim to represent? Not even a dollar, as I've seen. Yet the EUC lawyers who are paid to sit around and dream up these suits make huge commissions on the fines the EUC adjudicates, which is an ironclad fact I hope everyone is aware of. It's also rank corruption, of course, but that's another topic. Last, when the EU inflicts these judgments, or the DOJ, take your pick, the costs are bundled right along in the cost of the goods and services these companies provide the consumers they are "looking out for." If you are someone who believes his government is his savior then you have my condolences. I think Apple is right here, because the whole scheme of consumer choice is that consumers pick and choose among the products companies offer. Microsoft Windows is more compatible with third party software and hardware than any desktop OS on Earth, which is my sole reason for choosing it. Just because the EUC forces companies do certain things it knows the companies do not want to do, "or else", has no bearing on consumer benefit. This Siri thing is almost idiotic it's so infantile. But this is what the EUC does when the EU in Brussels becomes cash-strapped and needs a big infusion of cash. Some people get upset by "big companies" but it's the opposite when governments dwarf the size and scope of these companies, which is so obvious it hurts.... I mean you can't honestly believe that forcing Apple to do things with Siri it has its own reasons to decline is something that "opens up" Apple, do you? Say it aint' so...
    • Looks like many years since the request was made, a directory tree view finally may be added. https://github.com/files-community/Files/pull/18537
    • Is it still super slow or has it improved on that area?
    • There's this from last year https://gist.github.com/threat...364659a8887841aa43deca4efd9 but nothing about a buffer overflow that MS somehow can't code against. No matter what, it makes sense to take a "protected by default" approach.
