I nevr really liked MMOs before, but I am really digging GW2! I made a thief and was googling about which skills to pick. I got lost in all of the excel spreadsheets of information, so I am just having fun and not worrying about having an uber-character.

My one minor quibble is that I wish that the character customization was more complex, but I'm the type of person who likes to customize everything I can.

In cases like that, when I'd be at work but with a little free time, at school, or waiting, I'd like to read threads/forums on specific classes. Lets me see what others are building, how they're working their skills to combo/synergize well with each other and such. I don't really care about numbers so much as I do being viable for what I want to do, like being sturdy, outputting burst DPS, or what have you.

Cheers though man, glad you're enjoying yourself. :)

You level up, craft stuff, trade stuff, and role play as a fantasy character; why is it like comparing apple and oranges? Besides I don't want to waste $60 to judge it myself and find out that it sucks.

Here you go, Angry Joe reviews GW2 for you:

Very slow goings but love the game. I 100% completed Kexxec Hills (after 100% complete Queensdale) earlier this week. I love how much stuff is in this game. Also if you stick around after events you can listen to the story of the zone a bit as the NPC's usually stand around talking about what just happened.

I can't like this video enough... Damn!

Edit: I love this guy. Subscribing! Thanks Trag3dy!

Edit2: Wow I really really love this guy's reviews. He's so damn detailed, I usually hate watching review videos...

This video has convinced me to start playing it again when I get home. I had stopped playing last Friday because I had become completely bored.

I'll help ya out. Just shoot me a message.

Thank you for your kind offer but your assistance will not be needed! :D

I was finally able to find a group to do the quest and funnily enough once we did that the rest of the story quests after that one are soloable so I really think Arenanet needs to fix that quest. It was "Rumors of Trouble".

I've done about 5 more storyline quests since then and am well on my way to level 30. I'm starting to enjoy the game a bit more now than I was the other day.

I do think however that World v World is kind of well.. pointless. I spent 30 minutes playing it with about 20 people from my guild we were on teamspeak and we held a keep(?) from an opposing server for about 30 minutes. But here is the thing, we kept pushing them back about 100 feet then they would respawn and return and this happened probably 20 odd times before we literally just got bored and left. We were not making any headway and neither were the other server the whole thing just felt pointless and a waste of time, everyone on teamspeak was very deflated about it.

A few others commented that they didn't feel their kills meant anything because as soon as you downed a player they would go to the nearest waypoint and be back within a minute and I definitely agree with him on that. I really think they need to add in some kind of respawn timer so that when you die there is a time penalty that would have given us time to be able to push them back far enough to take the areas from which they were using to respawn. Otherwise it just feels like you're mowing down a horde of ants that just keep coming and coming. I must have killed this same mesmer about 13 times in the exact same area just ridiculous triviality.

Were people aware you could add your own music to the game?

And I got my first piece of Citadel of Flame gear last night. CoF explorable is easy compared to Coil of Eternity story mode. I still stand by what I said the other day that Anet over tuned some of the dungeons.

I've been a fan of Angry Joe for several years. He really does put a lot of work into his reviews, even for games that don't deserve it.

im guessing that chest in the pirate cove re spawns WAY faster then 24 hr's, i logged out @ the chest because i did the cave thing @ work. was prolly 4 hours ago. logged in seconds ago, and could loot the chest again.

If you don't mind browsing Reddit, bunch of people have listed there playlists throughout various threads (or w/e reddit calls 'em.)

I was thinking of adding all the music I purchased for GW1 (also made by Jeremy Soule) to playlists. It's about 50 extra tracks. I'm not sure if it's possible to do though.

Oh dear god, now I'm never gonna stop playing. Playing GW2 whilst listening to Doctor Who music, EPIC.

And I don't normally like Angry Joe's reviews, but his GW2 review was awesome. I loved that Star Wars bit lol

    • Lethal fake phone chargers are still being sold on Amazon and eBay, UK watchdog warns by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels The UK consumer rights organization, Which?, is claiming that “potentially lethal knock-off chargers” are still being sold on online marketplaces seven years after it exposed the danger of these chargers. In its latest investigation, it bought 15 USB phone chargers from several online marketplaces and found they were missing key information, meaning they cannot be legally sold in the UK. Which? bought the 15 chargers from seven online marketplaces. These were Amazon (including Amazon Haul), AliExpress, B&Q Marketplace, Debenhams Marketplace, and eBay. It said that the chargers were so badly made that anyone using them was at risk of electric shock. Over half the chargers also posed fire and explosion risks. Of the chargers purchased, one was a fake Apple USB-C 35W power adaptor charger. To confuse buyers, the box was branded with an Apple logo, but testing found it to be a fake. Further testing picked up arcing sounds after 10 seconds of use, where a current jumps between two parts of the electrical circuit, which can cause fires, explosions, or electric shock. The manufacturers of this particular charger also put modeling clay inside it to make it feel more weighty, robust, and genuine. Not all of the chargers were technically faulty; however, some were missing key packaging, markings, and documentation, meaning they can’t be sold in the UK legally. Which? said that it is now campaigning alongside a coalition of safety groups and businesses for new laws that make online marketplaces responsible for ensuring the safety of products that they choose to list on their websites. It also said the government needs to start using powers under the Product Regulation and Metrology Act, which was adopted last July, to impose safety requirements on online marketplaces via secondary legislation, but so far, there have been delays. No matter what country you are in, be sure to properly research what you are buying and only buy authentic chargers to prevent fires. You can read more about Which?’s research here.
    • Visual Studio finally gets long-awaited feature that developers will love by Usama Jawad Visual Studio Code is Microsoft's popular, lightweight, open-source code editor, it is actually Visual Studio that is the company's flagship integrated development environment (IDE). Although the IDE already offers a boatload of useful features for developers, Microsoft has finally introduced a long-requested capability that will be loved by many. While developers have already been able to create Git pull requests (PRs) directly within Visual Studio for the past couple of years, it had not been possible to review a PR without switching to the browser, until now. Microsoft revealed in December 2025 that it is working on UX that enables developers to do just that, and fast-forward to June 2026, and Visual Studio finally has native capabilities to open and inspect a PR, discuss feedback, and wrap up the review, all without switching to the browser. This integration works for both GitHub and Azure DevOps (including on-prem). Developers have access to multiple surfaces to open a PR, including Git Repository, Git Changes, and the Git menu in Visual Studio. Once you open a PR, all the important details will be immediately visible to you, from where you can navigate to various levels of granularity and branch states, depending on the reviews that you are engaged in. As you would expect, you also get a diff view that enables you to see code changes inline or side-by-side in a separate panel. You can also review commit-by-commit. Additionally, this UX fosters collaboration as you can leave comments, reply to threads, and resolve conversations easily. Naturally, you can also leverage Copilot to apply a code suggestion to fix a potential issue. When you are done, you have the ability to approve, complete, and merge the PR. This is a pretty major feature as it has been requested heavily for the past few years. You can try it out in Visual Studio 2026 version 18.7, made available here recently. Microsoft plans to enhance this experience further in future releases with comment filtering, a timeline of PR activity, and more.
