You do know that this is for making homebrew programs right?

Yes. Homebrew that will allow us to stream all the content we want using our PS3 and watch DVDs and YouTube with it and... oh wait it already does all of that without any need of circunvention :unsure:

:rolleyes:

i can see the upside to homebrew. Emulators all around lol !!!!!!!!! wooop.

could this possible mean PS2 games on all ps3 range maybe? :whistle:

How many years did it take for a fully working PS2 emulator on PC's?

You really expect a quick turnaround on a PS2 emulator for a CELL processor? rofl.gif I would hope not, we're not seeing that at all IMO.

The reverse engineering is done, they just need to port it.

Sony PS3 GameOS Removal Press Release

August 27 2010

SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES REMOVAL OF THE GAMEOS FEATURE FROM THE PLAYSTATION?3 SYSTEM IN NEXT UPDATE

PlayStation? Security updates will remove GameOS features due to piracy.

Tokyo, August 27, 2010 ? Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) today announced that it will remove the GameOS feauture of its PlayStation?3 (PS3?) system. The removal will coincide with the v3.50 update to be released by the end of this month in Japan, North America, Europe/PAL territories, and Asian countries/regions. Users will still be able to enjoy immersive video and audio on the PlayStation?3 system, although only on movie titles. Support will be added for the PlayStation?Move motion controllers, as well as the ability to watch stereoscopic 3D content.

Bringing in SCE?s expertise in both entertainment and technology acquired from previously developing games, four sound fields and 3d vision enhancements for existing 2d titles have been designed with the help of SCE?s previous expert game designers, to optimize the cinematic experience of all forms of entertainment.

Through the introduction of new peripherals, SCE will continue to further expand the PS3 platform and create a new world of computer entertainment that is only possible on PlayStation ? except for games, or Linux.

What does this exactly mean for us ps3 owners? what is GameOS? What am I losing now? lol

Edit... after doing some googling, seems GameOS is what would run the games, and that this is a big fake joke, as it would remove all game playability from the console. Right?

The joke went straight over your head right? They are saying they are removing GameOS due to it allowing people to play pirate games, just like they removed OtherOS because it almost let people play pirate games. It's just a joke, nothing to take seriously. :laugh:

Hmm interesting.

PSGroove paired with an AT90USBKey...

For about ?25 I'm wondering if it's worth buying one of those. What's the likelihood a clone will be cheaper any time soon?

Clones will def be cheaper but with a development board you can update the software easily in future. But someone is working to port the code to Ti-84. You will just have to load the program in the Ti-84/83 etc and run the program and load the homebrew from a different flash drive. :woot: :woot: :woot:

PSGroove

This is the PSGroove, an open-source reimplementation of the psjailbreak exploit for AT90USB and related microcontrollers.

It should work on:

* AT90USB162

* AT90USB646

* AT90USB647

* AT90USB1286

* AT90USB1287

* ATMEGA32U4

... and maybe more.

This software is not intended to enable piracy, and such features have been disabled. This software is intended to allow the execution of unsigned third-party apps and games on the PS3.

Some "hacker". The line that was removed was only 4 ASCII characters. /dev_xxxx --> /dev_bdvd

It screamed "come patch me".
