Windows Live Essentials 2011 RC to touch down September 10(GMT+8)

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if this new version gets rid of that annoying HUGE and wholly unnecessary splash screen when it loads?

Doubt it

Usually the Live website will announce a new release before it is going live - there is no mention of it anywhere on the site, only the beta

if it was to be released today it would probably be in 1.5hrs as thats when MS and Apple usually release things.

Anyone know how to change the background colour of conversation windows? I can change the main window colour but can't figure out how to change the background colour of conversation windows, i want it black.

Any news? I'm guessing if it's GMT + 8 it would be 2am saturday 11th by now? Since its 18:25pm in GMT now... This looks disappointing, mainly because most sites that would report it like LiveSide have nothing on it.

According to Taiwan Microsoft, Windows Live Essentials 2011 RC will be a public milestone release, and the bits will touch down for all of us to enjoy come September 10th. (GMT+8)

This source has pointed out a few changes made in recent builds to us which hint that the RC ? and following that milestone, the RTM ? are very close:

1. Windows Live Mesh branding has been present in internal builds for 2 weeks, essentially "replacing" Live Sync branding; and interesting article outlining this change and the history of Mesh can be found on LiveSide.

2. The Windows Live Essentials 2011 logo is now in the installer, and the installer has an overall updated UI.

3. Refresh button added to the social stream.

4. 'BETA' word removed from the software, replaced with '2011′. So the titlebar of Windows Live Messenger, for example, reads 'Windows Live Messenger 2011′.

5. It is unknown what build Microsoft have selected for the RC, but 15.4.3119.0902 is the latest internal build being seeded out to early adopters.

6. Those who have used recent builds claim drastic improvements in performance. Also, those installing these recent, pre-RC builds are not required to restart their machines.

Hopefully not.

No idea as it does not even look like we are going to see it for another week now... And also, the splash screen was fine, better than the old login screen, this looks much better.

if it did, do you think i would be asking?

Yep italian and it says

"If we see this time our informant is right"

and undernearth the ringed one it says:

"new build of Windows Live Essentials candidate for rc: 15.4.3129.0914. waiting to know the date of issue"
