American football is just a group of men in padding standing around doing nothing, thats all they seem to do whenever I've seen it on telly :blink:

You should probably keep watching then, its obviously not as paced as soccer, but you can hardly say football is standing around. You get as in shape as they are and spend 60 minutes going full force against someone pushing full force right back at you. Constant contact.

I like soccer - takes tons of skill and stamina but they do bitch and moan whenever they get scratched; complete opposite of football.

I started following NFL over the past three years. i really like it BUT it is not something i can watch at once. i normally watch something else and switch to it everynow and then . There are also alot of pet hates hat i have with it. I also cant justify watching an 80( or is it 60) minute game over three hours. If any american gets to watch the NRL or AFL finals series in aus. you will see why NFL, imo is inferior but still is fun to watch. I watched most of the redskins and cowboys game yesterday and for the most part it was boring, so i was watching something else. The only decent parts were near end of the first half and also after the two minute warning.

I know it's easy to think that right? I mean, until some guy gets hit by a 300 lb., finely conditioned and well muscled cruise missile at a full run and is laying there flopping around on the ground unconscious, AND with full padding and a helmet on.

I mean, those rugby and aussie rules comparisons don't hold water, but I understand it's the closest thing you guys have to a real man's game like American football.

Edit: I wonder, if your rugby players are so tough, how come I never see them recruited into the NFL? Granted some probably just hate the US and wouldn't live or play here, but really, given the insane salaries that are paid in the NFL...I believe that could change anyone's mind and convert them to the NFL dontcha too? Could be they're just fit for a less physically demanding and lighter technical sport like rugby ;)

Not a fan of it at all, very slow and they wear padding. Rugby used to be played in America until Roservelt banned it deeming it too brutal, they went away changed the rules and added padding thus American football was born, shame really i think you Americans would be good at it.

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha . lol. ignorance is bliss. Besides punters there is no point for an afl player to go to NFL. In NRL, with a completely different skill set why would they go NFL. i explained ages ago, the differences between the sports, i cbf doing it again.

No...its terribly boring and only has about 10-15 minutes of total actual play time. Most of the time it is people standing around. The only thing worst than American Football in this country is American Baseball. Honestly, more action happens in golf than in either of these two "sports".

This... I've tried watching the superbowl and it's just painful. All American sports seem to be based around convenient breaks for TV advertising and it's incredibly frustrating to see maybe 30 seconds of gameplay take 5 minutes and then be smacked with another set of adverts. The pacing is just awful.

Have any of you even tried to play the game your self?

I'm sure it's fun to play but then so are a lot of other sports that are boring for spectators.

I've watched the superbowl a couple of times. Can't really get into it. IMO, rugby is more entertaining to watch in probably every possible aspect. American football is too stop-start, has too many ad breaks and too much padding.

Real football (ie, soccer) is bloody annoying these days, especially in higher leagues. There's no doubt the players are fit and skilful, but the fact they fall over over the slightest thing annoys me. Penalties used to be conceded. Now they're won. Lower league teams tend to stay on their feet better - but they don't have the skill that makes higher league stuff interesting.

You're kinda missing the point. American football players can run into people that hard because they wear so much padding. If they didn't, they'd injure themselves. The padding isn't just to protect you if you're the victim - it's also to protect you if you're the attacker (I don't know the real NFL terminology, but you get my point :p)

Although, the offensive players do defend the ball from the defense players who try and attack the ball carrier.

Siri AI helps you do things like draft messages, edit photos, and pull old flight details from your email during back-and-forth conversations. You can access Siri AI through several methods, depending on the device. While "Hey Siri" remains active, iPhone users can also press the side button, swipe down from the Dynamic Island, or use a system-wide context menu on Mac to analyze on-screen text.
