The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck

Recommended Posts

What a stallfest. Dane Sayers isn't nowhere near the skill level required to be on this show. All of the fight he just kept on ignoring his corner, hesitated a lot when punching and overral didn't mount any kind of offensive. Sevak wasn't any better. This was a bottom of the pile fight. The last minutes of the fight were spent pushing up on the fence. Like I said in the beginning, Dane has a weak gas tank and it showed.

The wildcard was total bull. Stevens got subbed in 17 seconds and lost all notion of gameplan when confronted with McKenzie who by any standards has awful technique (excluding the guilotine). But the thing, this season's losing cast has nothing to offer. Team GSP pretty much shut them down instantly. Now that the WEC will pour their LW pool into the UFC roster, only Brookins has been proven by lasting to round 3 against Aldo. The rest of these guys would be demolished by low-tier UFC competition and middle-tier WEC fighters.

I though the wildcard was for the two fighters who put on the best performance and who deserved to fight again, Stevens going back in was absolute bull****, they should've put Dane in.. They told Stevens to watch out for the guillotine, and what does he do? Jump straight in an get locked up, he didnt follow his game plan he ****ed up and really shouldn't have been picked for the spot, bring back Dane, he fought his ass off against Sako..

Stevens going down big time next week, watch!

Don't believe the GSP hype. Dane would be severely wounded by "England" in the wildcard. He does not have the skills required and running only on "heart". And heart alone doesn't win fights, just gets you beat up. I think Andy Main would be a better pick for the spot. The quarter finals are coming up and I hope that Michael Johnson has stepped up his cardio or else he is going to be squashed. Bruce Leeroy will be put down by someone with, I don't know, real technique. Brookins (by skill) or McKenzie (by inaptitude of the other fighters to defend a choke) will dominate.

Herb Dean must have been sleepy in the first round. There was no advancing, just stalling. Stevens even tried for a triangle but didn't put the effort to finish it. Herb Dean should have stood them up.

Aaron Wilkinson can't wrestle so he won't go far in the competition. And the finish... LOL.

Guillotine AGAIN! Complete idiot. In the end he blamed it on weight cutting amongst other things. Really? You're fighting at 155 and can't do the cutting? Fight at 170. I'm sure all the WW in the UFC would love to smash you into bits.

They should have picked Andy Main at least he would know how to defend the choke.

Poor Dana he went through all the hassle of trying to explain why he picked Stevens over the rest etc. then he goes and loses again to the same move, I love the bit after the fight when Danas trying to save face by saying how Stevens was destroying Wilkinson in the first round then they'd show the same elbow over and over in slow mo to make it look as if he actually did something. :D

Yeh he's good, even with the death of his grandmother on his mind.. LOL at Stevens getting caught in a guillotine AGAIN, what a joke he hyped himself to be so much more than he was..

Koscheck may be a dick, but he had me creased up laughing this episode, some of the stuff he comes out with is comedy gold.

yeah that's what I don't get. Dana is just praising Stevens saying he dominated the entire round, maybe 2 minutes he dominated, after that Wilkenson was all over him. Stevens is over rate, Dane should have gotten a shot.

I'm still hoping Cody or Brookins wins it all though.

Worst cornerman ever. I know he's 16-7 so he's experienced but I saw his fight with Billy Evangelista the other day and like Sokoudjou, he snatched defeat from the hands of victory.

The next TUF season will probably be Featherweight or Bantamweight. Maybe they'll do Faber and Cruz as trainers if Faber wins his debut and Cruz retains the title.

Other guys that I would love to see do a stint as coaches:

Chael Sonnen

Brock Lesnar

Gray Maynard

Shawn Sherk

That's definitely going to be fun.

Imagine this, in a perfect world it would be

TUF 14 (since 13 is already in casting).

Mir vs Lesnar and they are training Featherweights or something.

Or since Roy and Lesnar look to be on the same page lately

Nelson vs Lesnar training HW for big freakshow action.

I don't think there ever was a TUF season where the coaches were HW fighters. It's always someone training up a weight class or down like Evans with the HW (Rampage didn't "coach") or GSP with LW.

Sonnen vs Silva for the 1st brasilian based TUF would be AWESOME BEYOND WORDS. (Sonnen vs Belfort also works...)

It would be awesome. Lesnar would teach them how to use their viking might to dominate the other fighters and completely forget that they weight in at around 66kg tops. And Mir would just be on his back the whole time.

Ok, 1st fight... LOL.

I don't know if it's the Kos retardation effect or his team is just crap but they don't seem to understand what a gameplan is. What was the gameplan Sako? Avoid giving up the back. And like clockwork, Sako gets taken down and gives up the back. Judo doesn't work well on the back. Like I said, Brookins is top dog and it shows. Didn't even break a sweat destroying stereotypical judo-strong armenian.

2nd fight:

Cody is tough as nails like I said. In the end of the first and the 2nd round, his defense to kicks and punches was to stop them with his face. No stand-up technique at all but hard as nails. And since Nam would know how to defend to his 1-trick-pony style... it was game over.

But Nam isn't really in the clear here. He won sure but to me he lacked a sense for the fight. He could easily have finished in the first, Cody was just taking the shots in the face and he didn't move in for the finish. He lacks killers instinct. The 2nd round was going the same way but Cody's body gave out.

My predictions are correct until this point. Since Nam knew how to defend a guillotine, Cody lost and Brookins carries on to the final problably.

1st fight:

Koscheck is retarded. GSP comes up with a gameplan and surprise! it worked like a charm. Kyle followed it to a T, took Aaron down and after some intense lay-and-pray got the RNC for the win. One would expect that Kos, after seeing so many of his fighters get choked out would, I don't know, teach them submission defense? And the wildcard pick gets taken down rather quickly.

Freddie Roach? WOW. I know there must be some editing involved but GSP just brings in some of the best guys in the world to train his team. Roach is an elite level boxing coach and it showed.

Now to the fight:

It was the best fight yet on the show. Michael Johnson improved since his first fight but there are still some flaws here and there. He is a dominant wrestler but couldn't keep Alex down until he got tired. And in the 2nd round, he seemed to be running out of gas but pulled it off. Both corners were totally awesome. No more of that Nam Phan idiocy from the other fight.

Semi-finals:

Nam Phan vs Michael Johnson. In the Cody fight, Nam couldn't get off the fence. Seeing as Michael Johnson is a much better wrestler, if he sticks to gameplan, he gets the win (albeit by decision).

Brookins vs Kyle. Kyle is a BJJ guy and has no notable stand-up skills. Brookings is much more well rounded and has already showed he has the submission skills needed to finish fights. Brookings by submission.
