This build seems alot faster then the last build, quite impressed to be honest. So far I've been a diehard chrome user, but this is starting to give me second thoughts.

The update you got through Windows-Update has nothing to do with this build. It's just stability fixes while this version in this thread is new-build.

Yes indeed...however, this 'leaked build' seems to be only for Win7....I have WinVista_32-bit, and get this:

Make sure you install SP2 and platform update

Make sure you install SP2 and platform update

Thanks however I have SP2 installed, but trying to install Windows6.0_KB971512x86.exe (Vista Plaform Update) results in a pop-up does not apply to this system...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971644 --->these are individual components that make up the platform update for Vista...possibly trying to install each update separately...?

Interesting links and thanks too...I have Windows Update on and have semi_ reviewed all my installs (past) patches (a ton of patches-lol), and it only picks up

Windows Live Essentials & Windows Live Essentials 2011_Beta

So I'm pretty sure that my system is patched properly, as I just tried all the KBs (linked above) and they all popped up after trying to install them...

Does Not Apply To Your System...

Really do not want to format, as I will just wait for the next RC for IE9_Beta--->Windows Update did pick up on the recent 'Stability Patch for IE9_Beta 9.0.7930.16406CO' which I have installed...

Really the RC shouldn't be far away, before the holidays probably. If I had to take a guess I'd say 2nd week of December.

Yes, I think so too...

This was killin' moi, so I have just reviewed very closely all my Windows Update patches, and found KB971644--> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971644

Properly installed....lol

Any indication when the final will be released (or RC)?

No solid dates yet but everyone is expecting the RC in Dec and the final, if nothing goes wrong, in January probably. I'd say mid-Feb at the latest.

IE got very nice boost but I got for first time, honestly, nice Tab Crashes.

Agreed. I've been using the Public Beta and now this Internal Beta and though the latter is doing better than the former, it still crashes when you close a tab halfway through loading; a pretty big bug. Hopefully the RC in the next couple weeks will clear that up, however.

My main problem with the interface is that it seems fake for some reason. It's like a facade that can peel off at any second. As if some amateur hacked it together or something, extremely unfinished and quirky feel to it.

Not sure how to describe it otherwise and I'm really hoping it will change before it hits the final version.

If I have to compare Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 to Safari 5 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Safari 5 feels more solid while they're both the flagship browsers on their respective operating systems. When it comes to loading pages Internet Explorer 9 does things a noticeable fraction faster, which is nice. Not always though. Animations on Mac OS X always are executed more smoothly than on Windows Vista / 7.

I agree about the "fake"ness. I feel the same way about the firefox 4 UI (especially in comparison to the wonderful mockups)

Nope. The back/forward buttons look like some ungodly abortion of longhorn + metro combined, the tab bar looks like it was quickly moved next to the addressbar with no extra consideration (some things about it just look "wrong", like how the tabs are ever so slightly shorter vertically then the addressbar, the weird white line separating the toolbar from the page, the wierd cutoff back button) The UI ideas could be good in concept but right now it seems totally unpolished to me. And the tabs and addressbar in the same row would work a lot better with space saving features like opera's tab stacks or firefox's tab candy.

It just looks like someone took an aero frame and slapped back/forward buttons, addressbar, tab bar, and a few more buttons and called it a day. The UI can be great but it really does need more work.

I do definitely like how much more responsive the UI is compared to IE8 and firefox 4 though.

I'm not totally sold on IE9's UI either. The obvious first fix would be to make the favourites bar look flush with the tab bar instead of the 'native' Aero toolbar background.

Also in this build, IE9 selectively enables Y axis subpixel rendering (what DirectWrite does) on some sites and disables it on others. Why?

I agree that the favbar needs some work to better match the rest, as for the back button etc, dunno what the thinking was but it probably won't change much if at all.

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
