OOOOOOOO
Orange launched HD audio the other day ... but only a limited number of handsets support it. Being that the iPhone4 is pretty new, would it likely come to it?

AbandonedTrolley
Apparently it's a software patch not hardware, so possible. Now whether Apple deem the UK Orange network worth the trouble is another matter. Hopefully as soon as it hits an Android phone it will get ripped out and added into custom roms :) Phone list so far http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=OUKPersonal&c=OUKService&t=Service&cid=1276852537911&tab=
Prince Charming
Unlikely to come to the iPhone 4 in the near future. It may come to the iPhone line, some time in the future, when it's more widely supported. It's pretty much just Orange UK and Orange Austria that even support it (as far as I'm aware). With the Everything Everwhere merger of T-Mobile/Orange in the UK, it might get more widespread support across T-Mobile's network, prompting increased handset support, but it's unlikely any time soon. NienorGT
No. Carriers can't put addons and "optimization" to the iPhone. >_>
OOOOOOOO
No. Carriers can't put addons and "optimization" to the iPhone. >_> It's only a codec. Surely an audio codec, if it becomes standard, will come into future OS releases? I'd be shocked if not. Apple pride themselves on having slick phones. And O2, Orange, and other operators are all now beginning to support the new codec.
mad_onion
My phone (Samsung Omnia 7) supports it but I'm on T-Mobile so hopefully as they're one company now I'll get it eventually too.
Storm
Its not a codec, it uses the mobile internet (3g/hspda) network instead of the PSTN cellular one....
mad_onion
Its not a codec, it uses the mobile internet (3g/hspda) network instead of the PSTN cellular one.... So it's basically just a precursor to full IP based LTE networks.
