The UFC's Toronto card took a hit Thursday with news that heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is injured and will be out six to eight months.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the injury and that the newly crowned title-holder had been set to fight Brazilian Junior Dos Santos in Toronto's Rogers Centre at UFC 129 on April 30.

Velasquez coach Javier Mendez told www.mmajunkie.com that his fighter suffered a torn rotator cuff in dethroning Brock Lesnar at UFC 121 in October.

The injury to Velasquez may increase the chances of a Toronto main event between welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields.

UFC 129, the UFC's debut in Toronto, is expected to set a North American attendance record for mixed martial arts.

JDS will probably fight Carwin in the meanwhile. I don't think he will stand around doing nothing like Rashad Evans waiting for Cain to be recover.

The HW picture in the UFC is pretty complicated. Lots of rumors that TUF 13 is Mir vs Lesnar so those two are out. Schaub is fighting Cro-Cop (huh? really?) and we just don't know about Struve. UFC needs to recruit some more HW guys for the division to liven up.
