fernando Fernando Alonso

What did you talk to Prince Harry about Webber?

wibbah Mark Webber

Flamin stoked to meet the guy Fernando, we had a great chat about all sorts.

fernando Fernando Alonso

He give you any tips on how to cope with never having a sniff of getting the ultimate crown?

mschumi Michael Schumacher

Maybe he talked to you about what it feels like to be the spare prick at a wedding, or in your case at Red Bull.

nice f1 drivers parody

Loooooool

Does anyone know if the new F1 coverage with Sky is only going to be on pay-per-view? I hope not... Or will it be part of the sports package and available on one of the Sky Sports channels?

Sky Sports, but if you only subscribe for the F1, it works out more expensive per race than any PPV event.

Sky Sports, but if you only subscribe for the F1, it works out more expensive per race than any PPV event.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. We have the full Sky HD package including sports, so won't be affected .. thank god!! I feel for the other fans that don't have a Sky subscription --- down to the pub it is then :)

Great race. :) Actually, excellent race, as Button won. :D His 200th GP start, taking place at the same track where he won his first GP five years ago. :)

Hamilton blew it twice; the incorrect tire change, and nearly running into Paul Di Resta while trying to spin himself back in the right direction.

Really looking forward to Spa now. Bit of a break, but the race is happening on my birthday. :) Would be a great present to see Button win again.

however you have to say hamilton is the most talented, fastest driver there. he was FLYING circles arround the others especially at the beginning, ok he did a mistake but who didnt? (i counted 2 mistakes for vettel, 1 for webber, 1 for massa, and hell, FIVE OR SIX for alonso and all of them had less to show than hamilton today)

for vettel this was an ideal race, button was the guy farest behind and he won today, while vettel managed 2nd. he is leading 85 points to the still 2nd placed webber (shows you how amazing the redbull car is, because, webber certainly isnt!) never has the lead been that big before.

all in all i loved the race, especially the first half of it has given us a lot of action

Pirelli is set to stop using its hardest compound for the rest of the season

Ferrari's chances in this year's championship look set to be boosted, with Pirelli having revealed that it is unlikely to use the hard tyre in the remaining races of the season.

The Maranello squad has been known this season for preferring softer tyres that adapt better to its car.

Pirelli announced earlier this week that it would not be using the hard compound in the upcoming three races, and its motorsport boss Paul Hembery says the compound is unlikely to return this season.

"I don't think we'll see the hard compound again," said Hembery. "I think it's probably too hard and that the medium is proving sufficiently robust for the aggressive circuits we've still got to come. So don't think we'll be going the hard route."

Hembery also revealed the hardest tyre is probably not going to be used at all next year, with a new compound likely to be introduced as a bridge between the medium and the soft.

"Probably next season the medium will become the hard," he said. "We'll probably slot something in between the current softs and mediums - We want to keep about one second between each. The super soft and soft gap is about right to be honest, because you've got a 1s speed advantage but you've got a clear degradation and limitation on use.

"If we could replicate that now with a new medium and a new hard then I think we'll be well placed."

He made it clear the company will continue to use vary the tyre compounds from race to race in order to get the better of them at every track.

"Well, I think we have to, because the circuits we are going to are really different again. It tends to be only the street circuits where I think there is a lot of similarity. Singapore has the added question mark of rain, at night, in 40 degrees centigrade, which is a bizarre situation to be in, so that's going to be fascinating.

"I have to say I think we will have some other interesting scenarios and we'll try and throw in some challenges ourselves."

The Briton also praised the job done by Pirelli this year to help improve the show in Formula 1.

"Pirelli has to be delighted," he said. "I think the Pirelli team has done a great job. We had very limited chance to get ready, limited testing opportunities with the teams, and with all those constraints I think we've delivered a great product and added something to the weekend spectacle."

Safety car deployed in Codemasters? F1 2011

Codemasters have confirmed the safety car will feature in F1 2011, the official F1 game to be released next month.

The feature was in high demand from fans after it was not included in last year?s F1 2010.

Codemasters? communications manager Andy Gray revealed the news on Twitter and posted photographs showing the car in the game.

Gray said the safety car will feature online as well as in single-player races. It can be turned off and is only available in races of more than 20% full distance.

There is no option to drive the safety car and the camera angle does not change when it is deployed.

He added players will ?have control behind the safety car but there?ll be some restrictions.?

Codemasters will release F1 2011 on September 23rd for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

From BBC Sport

HRT team boss Colin Kolles has admitted the team "would like" to employ a Spanish driver next season following their recent change of ownership. But he refused to comment on rumours that touring car driver Javi Villa is at the top of the list. "A Spanish driver at HRT would be good news," Kolles said, "but we are still far from naming that person. Right now the team's priority is to develop the car."

Alonso to HRT next season?

FIA bans DRS use through Eau Rouge for practice and qualifying

Formula 1 drivers will be banned from using DRS through Eau Rouge at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, after the FIA accepted safety concerns about its use.

After deliberation over recent weeks about whether or not to outlaw the use of DRS through the 180mph corner, the FIA decided on Monday that the best way forward was to not allow drivers to open their wings there.

Several drivers had expressed concern that it could be dangerous for them to risk trying to run through Eau Rouge with their wings fully open in qualifying in a bid to gain valuable time.

Another issue influencing the decision was the fact that some drivers had confessed to being unsure at times on the entry to corners as to whether or not their DRS remained open - something which could be dangerous at a corner like Eau Rouge.

A failsafe system on the cars, which closes the DRS wing on the cars when the driver hits the brakes, would not work at Eau Rouge because of its high-speed nature.

Having listened to the drivers' concerns, and looked in detail at the safety risks, the FIA wrote to the teams on Monday afternoon to tell them that DRS use will be outlawed through Eau Rouge for both practice and qualifying.

In the race it is not an issue because the single DRS activation zone only starts after Eau Rouge ? on the straight from Raidillon to the Les Combes chicane.

The FIA's decision to act on the Eau Rouge concerns comes after a similar request to outlaw DRS in the Monaco tunnel was accepted earlier this year.

Speaking ahead of the FIA's decision, HRT's Vitantonio Liuzzi reckoned that Eau Rouge was not as critical a situation as the Monaco tunnel had been.

"For us it will be on the edge with the DRS, but the tunnel situation was a bit different," he told AUTOSPORT. "The reason I was asking to ban it there was because of a crash, wheel-to-wheel in the tunnel, which could be a really critical situation.

"In Eau Rouge it is different. It is open air there, there is no roof, with no pylons ? so it could be a normal racing accident as at any normal place. It is an easier decision for the FIA, because Monaco was a bit more risky. But I will take it as it comes, I like a challenge."
