Henry Cavill to Play Superman

Recommended Posts

Can we get Doomsday, I much would like to see Superman die at the end of the movie.

Edit: I posted before reading the second page of this thread, I am now completely put off by this movie. Amy Adams is so very plain to watch, the Oscars have no real standard if they allow such a horrible actress to be nominated for anything. In any of the movies I've watched of hers I have yet to be compelled by her on-screen performance.

Cavill is 6' 1" plus a fraction and Brandon Routh was only an inch taller at 6' 1.5". George Reeves was too short too at 6' even. The only "tall enough" Superman was Chris Reeve, and he's gone.

British smitish. Christian Bale is from the UK too, and he's only 5' 10" and plays the 6' 2" Batman.

Not built enough? How cut is this? Bulk him up another 20 lbs, far less than the 30+ lbs the rail-thin Chris Reeve needed, and he'll be fine.

Don't get me wrong, in real life he's not a small bloke at 6' and what looks somewhere in the region of 180lbs, but on screen he comes across as slim, same problem with Routh, even if he does bulk another 20lbs or so on that frame, he's just in my opinion not going to have the stature of Superman.

Reeve wasn't actually that built or ripped but he had the frame for it, same as Tom Welling (just a shame he can't act).

Deadline told you last month that Michael Shannon was in Zack Snyder's sightlines for the villain role in the Superman film Man of Steel. Warner Bros just announced he got the job. Here's the official announcement.
BURBANK, CA, April 10, 2011 ? Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Michael Shannon will star in the role of General Zod in director Zack Snyder?s new Superman film, titled ?Man of Steel.?

Snyder stated, ?Zod is not only one of Superman?s most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don?t. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role.?

As General Zod, Shannon will go toe-to-toe with Henry Cavill, who plays the new Clark Kent/Superman in the film. The main cast also includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Michael Shannon was honored with an Academy Award? nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Sam Mendes? ?Revolutionary Road,? with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Shannon was most recently seen in the award-winning HBO drama series ?Boardwalk Empire,? from executive producer Martin Scorsese. He will next be seen in Sony Pictures Classics', "Take Shelter," from director/writer Jeff Nichols.

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.

?Man of Steel? will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Newest List of Rumors from Unconfirmed Insider Source through Latino Review:

You will see JOR-EL and his wife, Lara.

Daniel Day-Lewis was looked at for JOR-EL and not the villain.

Krypton will not be a crystal planet like the Donner film; this Krypton will PROBABLY look like the Coruscant skyline from Star Wars.

The Kryptonian villainess is not URSA...Well sort of. The villainess is FAORA. In the movies Superman and Superman II, the female Kryptonian villainess URSA is based on Faora.

Faora Hu-Ul is who Ursa in Superman II was based on.

She's a Kryptonian serial killer who targeted men, was skilled in martial arts and who had her own personal prison camp for her voctims - on Earth she'd be classified as a "collector." She survived the destruction of Krypton by being sentenced to the Phantom Zone.

Imagune a beautiful, superpowered, female Hannibal Lector.

Newest List of Rumors all Unconfirmed:

Regarding Krypton, it will incorporate "definite Kryptonian technology with a more alien contemporary feel."

2 working Scripts currently one in involving Zod, Faora, & Jax-Ur/Braniac & then another with less Braniac but he is still hinted at encase a "Man of Steel" sequel is made. The Zod scenes will be a flashback to Krypton, with Zod sporting his trademark beard. We'll see Zod's downfall with, get this - Braniac stealing Kandor - which leads to both Zod's downfall and the destruction of Krypton. The source also states Brainiac is being set-up as the potential villain for the sequel -- if one gets made. Along with Zod and Faora, the Kryptonian scientist Jax-Ur will be in the movie. (In the comics, Jax-Ur is responsible for the destruction of the Kryptonian moon which causes Braniac to take notice of Krypton).

The three are trapped inside the Phantom Zone and work their way out. They home in on Kal-El's craft that landed in Smallville and make their way to Earth.

The three Kryptonians integrate themselves into human society where Zod grows a deep hatred for the humans as he feels they are destroying the planet. With this view of the humans "wasting their perfect planet," the Kryptonians then begin to formulate a plan to make a better Krypton.

Zod wants to make Earth the New Krypton, using Faora to start the new Kryptonian bloodline and using Jax-Ur to accelerate human technology though LexCorp, which is the most advanced company on the planet, run by Lex Luthor.

Enter General Samuel Lane. General Lane will be leading Earth's defense against Zod, Faora and Jax-Ur -- and also Superman. Just as Zod's hatred for humans grows, Lane's hatred for aliens does, as well, - and this applies to Superman. Jeff Bridges and Ed Harris are being looked at for the role of General Lane.

Snyder is also looking at Jon Hamm (Mad Men) for Jor-El role.

Lindsay Lohan rumor still floating around but this time attached to Lana Lang role.

According to Deadline and,now Variety, German actress Antje Traue has been cast in the villainess role in Zack Snyder's Superman: Man of Steel.

Traue is confirmed for Man of Steel, with Variety also noting that she will be portraying the villainous Faora. Says the trade publication, "There are multiple Faoras in the Superman universe, so it remains unclear which one Traue has been tapped to play. The first Faora, Faora Hu-Ul, was introduced in Action Comics #471 as a beautiful Kryptonian woman with an intense unexplained hatred for all men. She was an expert at the Kryptonian martial art of Horo-Kanu, which utilizes pressure points on the Kryptonian body and made her a dangerous foe for Superman to fight in hand-to-hand combat. In fact, he was forced to flee from their first encounter. That said, it's more likely that Traue will be playing the version of Faora that debuted in Action Comics #779 as a Pokolistanian aide of General Zod. That character was an orphan metahuman with the ability to disrupt molecular bonds, which allowed her to create a mutagenic virus that served as the linchpin of Zod's plan."

I really do hope this film stays loyal to the original Superman score. It was the one saving grace of the mediocre Superman Returns and a much fitting ending to the Smallville finale.

100% agree if the "Man Of Steel" does not at least have the John Williams title theme from "Superman The Movie" then I will be sooooooooo upset and disappointed!

"Man Of Steel" just would not feel like Superman with out it!

I have no problem if the rest of the movie has a new score but it must use John Williams title theme from "Superman The Movie" at the begining and the end of "Man Of Steel"!

However I do have a very bad feeling "Man Of Steel" will not be using the John Williams title theme from "Superman The Movie"! :(

What is that from? :)

    • Google pitches Spanner as one database for all AI agents with these new featues by Karthik Mudaliar Google Cloud is introducing new features within Spanner, its distributed database, as a place where enterprises should keep their data, using which AI agents could make smarter and better decisions. In a detailed blog post, Google highlighted quite a few features coming to Spanner, including relational data, graph relationships, vector search, key-value access, full-text search, and operational analytics together in one database architecture. Google says that today's systems aren't well-made for AI agents. There could be data that is present in one system, search indexes in another, embeddings in a vector database, and relationship data in a graph database. This fragmentation isn't great for AI agents to do their jobs because they don't have access to all of this data in one place. This is where Google is positioning Spanner as a solution. Spanner is already a globally distributed relational database with strong consistency, and Google wants its customers to see it as a broader data layer for AI applications. The company introduced something called Spanner Graph, along with integrated vector search, full-text search, a Cassandra-compatible key-value endpoint, and a columnar engine for analytical queries on operational data. Google also added that its ScaNN-powered vector search can support indexes with more than 10 billion vectors, while the columnar engine can make some analytical scans up to 200 times faster. All of this isn't just exclusive to the Google Cloud Platform, and there's support for multi-cloud as well. This comes via Spanner Omni, which Google says is a downloadable, containerized version of Spanner that can run on Kubernetes and in environments outside Google Cloud, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, and even on-premises infrastructure as well as edge deployments. Google says that customers who are interested in the full-featured edition should contact the company, and there's no word on commercial availability or separate pricing. Those interested can read the full blog by Google Cloud, which details these features individually.

    • They have lots of info on me, I have a facebook account and have done so for years, it was the thing to have then. My phone number is not on it. I don't have the Facebook app on my phone these days, just the messenger part, and only for a couple of people to contact me, most will text me via SMS or phone. I agree, Meta, like others, even without an account will know something about me. Just have to try and keep some things private Also, never saw the need for Whatsapp, people used to ask for me to join it, but as I said to them, I have SMS and a phone, use that, or email
