Please keep dubstep out of this thread unless it's a remix.

---

Thought I'd create a create a thread dedicated to (imho) the most diverse electronic genre there is.

To kick it all off, I present a representation of several different styles of dnb. I recommend that everyone new to the genre at least skims through each song, as they're all very different from eachother.

Beginning with something you all probably recognize: Pendulum. Yes, Pendulum is Drum and Bass by definition, despite how they've strayed so far away from the genre.

------

Commence the actual DnB:

To start it off, here's a song I've enjoyed for many years. Blissful melodies with some of the only vocals I'll ever love. Apex is one half of Unknown Error, a legendary dnb duo. He's now running with the likes of Spor and Evol Intent at Lifted Music.

Xilent is an emerging Ukrainian talent in neurofunk drum and bass, mostly known by his very unique and signature style. Imprintz and Kloe are two of the best Electro/Breaks producers I've ever had the joy to listen to. The two combine to make one of the most addicting songs ever, and one of the best examples of fine Neurofunk (wait for the drop).

Here we have one of the most recognized tunes in dnb; most of you have probably already heard it at least once in your life. Adam F released this on vinyl way back in 1996. Since, it has become one of the most genre-representing songs in drum & bass history.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Obv477QfDI0

Black Sun Empire with their fine representation of techstep.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=69m1RB5QD58

Spor has long been considered a pioneer of drum and bass, an avant-garde producer never confined to the restrictions of a favoured subgenre. Wait for the drop on this one. It will truely, "knock you down", heh.

One of my personal all-time favourites is Electrosoul System's "No One Knows". Lots of soul.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=4HYYeEkEdnE

Cryo is a good example of intelligent & liquid funk drum and bass. An artist of truely stunning atmospheric drum and bass.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=_AdCwYrt6Sw

Current Value is really hard to define with just one song. Darkstep and experimental dnb at its finest. If you didn't like this song, maybe you'll like one of his many others.

And lastly, here's one featuring two of my pet artists, Imprintz and Kloe. Dark melody, loads of substance. Capital neurofunk. Almost as addicting as "Gone".

--------------------

Feel free to contribute your favourites. This board needs more music!

And sorry about the lack of embedding. [media] tag is very restrictive.

I hate to promote my own YT channel, but for fans of the genre, some of the tunes I upload are rather obscure and good liquid funk.

I'm over dubstep and I only heard it a few months ago (even though it's been around for over a decade). Everyone does it but not everyone makes it sound good. Pass. My current favorite DJ is DJ Ravine...I'm addicted to his Megamix.

That said, my first major dnb was DJ Dieselboy, here's a sample:

Cool, I'll have to check those songs out.

I like this song, I think it's more liquid dnb/funk?

I heard GT5 trailer had this song. I like the original version also, that's what I was listening to originally.

I also like this song, it sounds dark and mysterious...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdbZXuhNP74 Some of his other stuff reminds me of Burial.

Another dark one I like

... are these more dub?

I honestly don't get caught up in categorization, as I can't keep up with them.

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. GH1749 In the Master Password Setup window, "Show Master Password" is no longer truncated on some displays. GH1092, SF1595 Size and position of main window is now correctly restored on scaled displays. SF1630 Keep password expiry date when both password and password expiry are changed; don't clear a non-recurring expiry when the password's changed. SF1628 Custom values can now be copied to the clipboard in read-only mode via Ctrl-C and right-click->Copy Value. New features GH1196 Dark display mode support: Password Safe now supports the system display mode, as well as setting the mode directly via Manage->Options->Display->Display Mode. This change also updates the general "look & feel" of the app to the current Windows theme. Known limitations: The Date picker and keyboard shortcut controls do not switch to dark theme The Customize Toolbar dialog does not switch to dark theme Custom Field support has been added to the more advanced features: Filters XML and Text import and export Comparison, Sync and Merge databases SF938 Custom field values may now be selected by name and copied via a "Copy Custom Field Value..." submenu in the entry context popup menu. SF936 Notes and Custom fields layout now overlap, selectable by tabs, resulting in a more compact and less cluttered layout. SF935 Autotype: Specifying '\v{name}' in the autotype text will cause the corresponding value to be autotyped. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
